There was a monster buck laying in a picked cornfield with a doe and 2 other does. He was biding time. No way to reach him where he was. Smart deer.

I saw 17 deer today, including 4 more small bucks. Plus another 3 wild turkeys and about 40 pheasants.

It’s pretty apparent that the wildlife is thriving where I am. Musta been the fake winter.

I did, guessing you’re going to bring up no orange. I actually thought of that after seeing picture, bought a top for it and all, completely forgot to put it on.

Do you need orange on a blind if it’s on private land? Or is that just a public land thing?

I was not going to bring it up. It’s a solid buck, regardless. Nice work.

Day 3. Temps dropped over night in NW MN and the wind is going to go down throughout the day. Should be good movement. Had a good buck on camera early this morning.

Boy had an opportunity on a small buck Saturday afternoon that ended with a clean miss. A little excitement for him that hopefully keeps him motivated. Didn’t sit yesterday as the wind was not good for our stand placement. Back out tomorrow morning. The buck in the pic has been in the area so we’ll see. Blaze orange on a ground blind is only required on public.

I’m in the tree adjacent to the corner of the neighbor’s property. Been here since first light and haven’t seen/heard as much as a squirrel yet.

Update: action is picking up, her robe just came off. Hopefully get a good shot before the strobes and sirens!

Out in NW WI, 1 deer at 7 and nothing since. Wind is getting miserable but sounds like some action for Labdaddy.

Back on topic, the bucks were running all over the place SW of Hinckley Friday and Saturday. We saw 6 bucks, all small, I got the wounded 6, neighbor saw a bunch and shot a nice 10 pointer. And every deer camp around us seemed to have some horns hanging. Sunday didn’t have any movement for us, and we were about as spread out as we can be. Not sure if that’s lockdown or the rain and fog.

Slow day for me too today. Saw a couple in the dark on the road driving in and heard one walk behind me before legal. Nothing like the activity I saw the last 2 days.

Thursday saw 2 big bucks sniffing around. Friday saw 6 different bucks. The 4 smaller ones came right into grunts/rattles the 2 large ones hung back, think I needed a decoy. They would get to the opening in the meadow look around and walk away. Think they were looking for what made the noise but couldnt see it so they left. Saturday one little forky. Sunday pussed out cause the mud.

    Alrighty, update:

She moved quickly across my “shooting lane” and into the showe—I mean thicket—before I could get my meat shot(antlerless only). Looked like a big ol’ 46 year old buck hot on her trail.

    Maybe next time, fellas…

Deer are really moving this morning. Already seen 5 antlerless and a small buck. Supposed to rain tomorrow.

Slow Sunday and Monday on north metro public. Went 2 hours west to Alex and had a productive sit. Grunted in a shooter who intelligently stayed in the buckthorn. Saw a dozen does that I will probably regret not poking.

Hope to get a couple sits in late afternoon in Brainerd area. Got a State Park hunt in December, hoping that becomes a saving grace.

Patrolling the fence line today. So far a spike chasing a doe, a fork and a small 8. Shooting line is tight so need to keep the gun up in the window. Got to go!
