Congrats BMan! Nice one!
Eating your kids Halloween candy in the stand is one of life’s nice little Dad treats.

I love sitting in that spot in early November. Killed a lot of deer there over the years.
No trail cameras, no “target bucks,” just climbing an old maple in an OG Lone Wolf with my now 19 year old Bow-tech.
On top of that it’s my 42nd birthday today and I got a heck of a present
27eyeguyPosts: 322November 2, 2024 at 5:42 am #2297021The boy and I are heading in. Hoping to get him on brutus this morning
November 2, 2024 at 7:02 am #2297025First sit for me in Iowa. SE wind all weekend here, who chi is not ideal. Tomorrow could be a wash out. Good luck guys. Nice deer B-Man!
November 2, 2024 at 7:24 am #2297027Heard a few grunts after I was set. Should be a good sit
Same for us grunting on 2 sides of us
Justin riegelPosts: 948November 2, 2024 at 7:42 am #2297031Had a spike at 14 yards last night, back in the stand this morning. Unfortunately there was a deer right below it when I got to it.
November 2, 2024 at 7:43 am #2297032Had a shooter at 20 yards 10 minutes too early. He got downwind but didn’t spook so hopefully he chases something back this way.
November 2, 2024 at 7:57 am #2297034It’s a beautiful morning
That it is, real quite getting to stand this morning. A little fog up by Randall. Deer movement pre shooting so far.
November 2, 2024 at 8:43 am #2297037I just missed a big beautiful doe. I shot straight over her back.

I shot at her at 23 and my damn sight was rolled to 35 from shooting in the yard last night. I never zeroed back to my 20. I new going from fixed pin to a roller sight would one day bite me in the ass.November 2, 2024 at 10:51 am #2297055I just missed a big beautiful doe. I shot straight over her back.

Love those trees. Super easy to setup in
November 2, 2024 at 4:23 pm #2297082Hunting swamp edges I’m in those skinny trees alot as well. Worst part is the 7 ft of slack strap on the stands and sticks.
I just hiked in and kicked up 2 doe. Hopefully they come back. I went home and ate and now am back.
November 2, 2024 at 5:08 pm #2297092I see my previous post didn’t load. Said enough of the yard work and dad is sleeping, so ran out here at 3. Trying a doe decoy. Had 5 bucks chasing does and each other. Two baby 8s worked up to about 35yrds on the decoy. Everything was between 3-4, nadda since
November 2, 2024 at 5:43 pm #2297096I checked on my stands for gun season and the ditches are so high that it was nearly inaccessible. Bridges underwater, ditches twice as wide. What a disaster. Later on I found out why too. Muskrats. Chopped down birch trees and a clogged ditch further down which was preventing water movement. I spent an hour clearing debris to get the water moving again so hopefully that helps. I have a feeling those muskrats will have it clogged again in a couple days.

Holding that water is a good thing. Those bucks will forget about food shortly and live off water. I love flooded out areas, obviously depending the situation
November 2, 2024 at 5:58 pm #2297101The problem is we can’t get across the ditches to access certain parts of the property, including one of the stands. I don’t really own or know anyone who has heavy equipment either. It’s just a 4 wheeler and my 2 hands.
I might have to hire a licensed trapper to take out some swamp rats lol
November 2, 2024 at 6:00 pm #2297102The boy just stuck a small buck. Hit him good. He asked if he was big enough and I told him that’s his call. We don’t eat antlers. And the opportunity was perfect.
