I missed a tick this weekend. By the time I noticed it was t i t s deep in my arm by the pit. IT HURTS! My wife pulled it out with one of those tick pullers and I think it got everything. It looks ugly. It was a small wood tick. I think… )

Nice. I was wondering if anyone had still been grouse hunting since no one posted since Nov 11.

Ends on Sunday in Sconny. I may make it out again. My 13 yo is hunting well and I have a feeling she won’t be in another year. I really don’t want to see her end.

I might be the first guy in MN that’s shot a sharptail and a prairie chicken, but not a ruffled grouse.

December was good to us but ended the season without firing a shot. We did see one while in the truck but decided it had a free pass tell next season. The numbers definitely were down some in aitkin county where I hunt the most but still a good number of birds. We had alot of days with 3 birds apiece. Not many limits for us this year.

I got out Sat for a while. One flush and one miss. Seeing tracks in the fresh dusting up there was cool.
It was interesting hunting in 8 degrees but not a problem. The old girl worked great. However it was always unnerving when she worked out of site in the vast woods since I cannot call her back. (deaf) Wish I would have hunted her on the last day of the season (yesterday) but I had enough. I doubt she will be able to hunt next year but who knows. I said that last year.
