for those not hunting the no qouta zones…deadline of permits is may 6th.

already applied but did the 99 option due to my kids issues with the house. otherwise we had the preference points i believe to get drawn this year.

You’re either lucky to have that many points or unlucky to not have been bear hunting in a while. It takes a minimum of 6 points in my zone. Even with 6 you only had an 18% chance of being drawn.

I applied in 47 as I only have 4 points and may as well stack points for when I’m ready. Moving to FL in 2 days and I don’t know if I’ll be able to get up this fall for a hunt. I only need 4 points so I can at least get one any year I want one.

Nephew got a zone 45. I like baiting the best and watching them on my cameras.

Might need to look into buying a tag.

I have a LOT of bear on the farm right now, wrecking heck with everything that isn’t nailed down and some things that are nailed down. I have a major sow that would be a real shooter, but of course those are the wary ones.

No way that I have time to bear hunt, unfortunately.

that seems to be a common theme so far this year. doah i feed the birds up at the cabin, bear zone 27. we havent had any bear issues in 20 plus years with the bird feeders………..well that changed this year. tongue

There’s a lot of bears and no acorns whatsoever in this area. Bears should be screaming to the bait. I’m looking forward to baiting.

Last year was a banner year for acorns. You could hardly go out without a hard hat.

Sure seems to be a big uptick in bear sightings the last 5-10 years. You think the numbers are up, or just so many trail cams out that we see what’s out there a lot more? Does the DNR do a Bear Report on the overall #’s?

I was surprised by the amount of leftover tags. Wait up to 7 years and then don’t buy your license? There was 51 in my zone 45. I did not get one. Did anyone get a leftover?

Nvm, thought this was another NFC North post. In this situation, the Bears Don’t suck. I’ll be more careful if I see anything about a Lion season.

We do occasionally discuss outdoor things like hunting and fishing on this board.

    Hello,

    New to forum.

Have a question concerning barrels/drums for non-resident in Minnesota. Reg says can’t use on public prop if 30 gal or larger. Can a non-resident use a barrel under 30 gal?

    Thanks

Found my answer from DNR. A non-resident can not use any type of barrel/drum on public land.

i’m assuming your asking about barrels for baiting because your availability to bait is limited.

we usually dig a hole put the bait in and put logs over the top. gives ya a good rush seeing them logs scattered all over!!!!!!!

That’s a nice bear Waldo, congrats! My nephew got his bear and I got the sight cleaned up. It’s time to get the deer back. I haven’t seen a deer on my property since I started baiting bears. Archery season is only 2 weeks away. Emily Meats was rocking on Sunday night. I think they are one of the few businesses that process bear meat.

Thanks guys! Short season is sort of nice for a change.

Shot this one with a rifle. Was going to bowhunt but for this spot the rifle made more sense.
