It is Utterly ridiculous that we churn out so many NHL players, but have never won a cup.

And we’re just a single state. Imagine how the entire country of Canada of feels

There’s not really a correlation between youth/junior/amateur prowess and pro sports success in any sport is there?

Maybe you guys can enlighten me on this, but my brother in law discussed this over the weekend.

If Snuggerud plays his senior year with the U he becomes a UFA next year. With all the talent that comes out of MN and now we have NIL rules for the NCAA, why don’t we have a big time donor make a payment to guys like him to keep him here Then it gives the Wild a chance to sign them.

The Blues GM is on record saying Snuggerud will sign his ELC the day after the Gophers season is over…

He would have been a great pick for the Wild and they really wanted him, Blues took him right before us and we settled for Ohgren…

Do the Blues control that or could he say thanks but no thanks? Someone gives him a mil to play his senior year and then he can come and play for the hometown team? I know if my kid was in his position I would be exploring the that option. Being stuck on the blue or coming to a team that will have money and the best young D core in the NHL it seems. This Wasn’t possible a couple years ago, but NIL could allow this to happen. I already see he is doing commercials for one of the local news channels.

So Quinn Hughes is joining team USA in Boston but can’t play unless there’s another injury. I’m also hearing Kelly McCrimmon (Vegas GM) is taking over as Team USA GM for the remainder of this tournament

Hughes is like an emergency alternate I guess. The McCrimmon part is a joke

I anticipate Fox or Sanderson getting sick soon )

I don’t get it, if he’s now healthy enough to possibly play tomorrow night, why couldn’t he play from the start?

No, the Blues don’t have control of his decision, they just own his rights until August 15th 2026 and could trade him until then (just like the Wild and Stramel & Lorenz)

My guess is the local Fox9 channel is paying Jimmy with free Subway coupons ) In all seriousness, College Hockey NIL is a joke compared to what you hear for Football and Basketball players… I think the recent BU/BC studs got the biggest Hockey NIL deals sofar and those were rumored to only be 5 figures…The ONLY motivation holding out is to pick the team you sign with either due to organization preference or playing time/roster spot availability and you need to be really good to have multiple options…

Blues GM Doug Armstrong said in a recent interview they had dinner with Snuggy and agreed to sign him after this season is over and burn the 1st year of his ELC…could he change his mind? sure… but I doubt it…

Yurov going to Germany for surgery – not sure what. Hopefully this is his loophole way of getting to the states.

It was something with his knee/leg that he hurt 4-5 days ago, but his Coach came out and said it was nothing serious and he should be ready for the KHL playoffs in a few weeks, so that sounds really promising…but it’s Russia, so what can you truly trust?

Sounds like besides McAvoy, everyone for the US is healthy for tomorrow night’s game. GMBG still trying to get Quinn Hughes to the arena..

Bruins doctor is publicly shaming the Wild doctors for effing up McAvoy’s shoulder. Not a great look for the Wild docs and training staff. Especially considering they’re taking care of a team constantly battling injuries.

Seth Jones requested a trade from the Blackhawks because “I would like to give myself a chance to win in my career.” The guy went from the #1D selection for team USA in 2022 Olympics to not even in the conversation for team USA in 2025 4 Nations.

I’m not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once… so he got a serious internal infection within a matter of 2 days down in a shoulder joint…. ummm how does that happen outside of a dirty needle or not prepping & cleaning the skin for the injection? Yes, the optics are not good for the Wild and Preds staff, but this story needs alot more information provided before the Bruins start blaming another team’s doctor’s for malpractice…

I’d be curious to know how often post injury infections happen in a hockey locker room… I’m pretty sure my shins pads and hockey gloves have had every known contagion on earth growing in them at some point during my hockey days…

in his defense, he signed an 8 year extension BEFORE he knew Toews would eventually leave the Hawks and hockey due to sickness and then Kane would get traded a year later and the Hawks decided to have a fire sale on everybody else with an NHL pulse and go full rebuild…

I just hope its a close game and doesn’t resort to nonsense if the score gets out of hand, the NHL and Players have done a really good thing for hockey the past week, it would be a shame to tarnish it…
I’m also really glad & surprised “politics” won’t be involved in the anthem or pregame festivities although i’m sure there will be some booing on both sides from the crowd…once the puck is dropped all that $hit goes away for a few hours and we just play hockey…

Very excited for this game, seems like it’s taken forever to get here. Kinda glad our team was humbled a little bit Monday night for some motivation.

All I’ll say about the anthem situation is that I would prefer to see the fans boo the team, boo during the game, but respect their anthem. Being that they were the “home” team first they got a chance to put themselves on display during our anthem, I think it would be more of an adult move to show respect for theirs, then kick their as$ again.

Okay hockey fans, what are USA vs Canada final score predictions for tonight?

I hate to say it, but IMO Canada will come out on fire. National pride is at stake on a totally different level and they’ve been lackluster so far and the Canadian media have let them know it. They don’t want to be “that team”, as a Canadian best-of it doesn’t get any better than what they’ve got.

USA needs to stay out of the box and Brady and Matthew both need to be at the level they were at in the first meeting. Hellebuyck has to be lights out as usual.

    Final score:
    USA 3
    Canada 2

No editing now. State your predictions.

I think Canada scores first but it will be 2-2 going into the 3rd period and then a 5-3 USA victory with an empty netter in the final 30 seconds…

looking at my reply, I now realize this is basically how the 1st game went…. oh well…

Ive seen claims that when Toronto was in the World Series the canadian flag was flying upside down here. Really tired of all this BS around what has been said or what people think is going to happen (cough cough 51st state), let the boys play and see who ends up on top.
