Says every UFA this year. Do you think we are signing someone better to come to Minny? Let’s just keep waiting it out for the #2 prospect pool to come along.
Over paying Brock is not over paying Foligno. Who many don’t hate us much as you. We have all agreed that they will have to pay someone to play in the too 6. Most likely pay more than most to come to Minny. Which we don’t even know yet if that is the case.

Forgive me on the subject of contracts and salary cap and the business side of the argument here, I’m just not that deep into it.

Hasn’t it been discussed here about the possibility of acquiring the other Brock, Boeser? Not sure if that’s a reasonable possibility or not but given a choice I’d take that Brock over the Nelson one. Right handed shot, younger, higher ceiling. I like Nelson fine, but I like Boeser more.

For what price are we over paying would be the question.
For a guy that is nicknamed sunshine, Mr sensitive, and Prince Charming. Doesn’t exactly scream BG.
    Only time will tell.

Overpaying is more about length and terms. How many years? Full NTC for how long?

The wild will have to over pay no matter what. You want to to go to Vegas New York Florida etc or Minnesota.

I’m offended that some of you are calling us minny. I don’t much care if they sign either Brock. There are plenty of players I want gone before I worry about new ones coming in. Plus we have a dang season and parade route to plan for!

What else is there? Length and term kind of it. No?
Sorry but they didn’t disclose that info.

If I’m overpaying for any top6 UFA he better either become BFF’s with my Russian superstar or he’s entering his prime, not past it… If the UFA route doesn’t fit the plan player cost wise, GMBG can always trade for a player with existing term and a aav that was typical during the lean cap years (Dylan Cozens being a good example of that)

I trust in whatever GMBG’s decision will be…

Well Cozens has as many 30 goal seasons as Mr sunshine so I guess we will see.

SI.com just published an article saying Nelson is off the trade market and that the Islanders are pushing hard for an extension of 2-3 years.

Im sure they are. He is a good player.
He may take the guarantee or he may not.

It’s gotta be an extremely humbling feeling for some of these 4 Nations players who are the extra forward and defenseman or not on the special teams units when they are typically one of the best players on their pro team…

I sure hope the tourney lives upto the hype…i’m excited!

I’m not. This is way too intense of a tournament to be happening mid-season. This doesn’t compare at all to the Olympics, this is going to be way more intense.

Some NHL team or teams are going to come out of this REALLY hating the whole idea. Hope it’s not the Wild, but when you put this much of the top talent in the league ALL on the ice at once, it’s practically inevitable that there’s going to be teams that come out of this with injured players that they now have to make do without.

I don’t know, maybe they’ll dial it back, but there’s still only so much you can do. It might not be a dirty hit to the head, but nobody can prevent a puck hitting somebody in the face or a collision that takes out somebody’s knee and it’s game over for the season even though there was no bad intent.

For players worried about playing time… better learn to cope or they’ll just lose their spot on the OG roster next winter.

I think when you put this much of the top talent in the league all on the ice at once, it’s inevitable… that it will be one hell of a show to watch yay

Is it my bias showing or is the US goalie roster stacked compared to the others? Really only need 1 guy, but Canada… woof!

Really wish Russia and the Euros were involved

USA definitely has the edge in net for sure. Top to bottom I think the US has the best roster, but it should be a good tournament regardless.

Agree. I am looking forward to it. Not sure why it would be more intense than the Olympics, but should be fun to watch.

That’s been the talk of Team Canada, will their goalies hold up…That’s why I was a little surprised Flower wasn’t chosen, just for the fact that the odds of the 3rd goalie seeing ANY playing time is zilch and just having him present in the locker room and practice ice would be more valuable than Montenbeault…

Hellebuyck is on fire heading into the tourney, which obviously bodes well for USA…

If Russia was in the tourney imagine how difficult that starting goalie decision would be?

Cale Makar crashed into the ends boards doing the fastest skater competition in the allstar game skills competition a few years ago and luckily didn’t get hurt…injuries can happen at anytime, why even worry about them?

Crosby, Rantanen, Ek and likely others are all obviously hurt, yet they are choosing to play, it means something to the players…

Crosby playing through injury (JEEK too) shows how it isn’t just a glorified All-star game or publicity stunt. The players legit care and that’s going to make it fun to watch.

Major roster strengths and weaknesses I see:
Canada top 6 forwards are unreal
    Canada goalies are horrible
Sweden D so good as always
Finland D is worse than most NHL teams
US depth at all 3 positions, best team we’ve ever had even with the #1D out

I wish Russia was involved too. I think they could do a Europe, Canada, US, Russia tourney if they wanted to keep it to 4 teams. This might actually tip the tables towards the Europeans if Sweden and Finland are together (not sure any other countries would have players lol). They will never do this and just expand it to 5 teams when Russia is back in play.

Miro Heiskanen getting hurt is a huge blow to Finland as he would have likely played half the game for them…that being said Finland has always shown to play the best “Team Game” in international tournaments, maybe that becomes a factor in such a quick tourney…It will be interesting to see if USA & Canada’s top players defer to each other vs being the one who knows they have to take the shot when playing for their pro teams…

They could easily expand future “4 Nations like” tourneys and include Russia and a “conglomeration team” consisting of all other countries, they could put out a really good team with Czechia (Pasternak/ Hertl/Necas/Palat), Slovakia (Slafkovsky/Nemec), Germany (Draisaitl/Stutzle/Seider), Austria (Rossi/Kasper), Norway (Zuccy)

Its actually not as easy as you might think it would be to put a full Russia team together…after the top 9 forwards and 4 Defense it gets tough to find good NHLers (they are weak at Center & Defense, but OMG look at their Wings!), they would likely need to dip into the KHL for Khuzzy and Demidov, goalies on the other hand they have 3 or 4 of the best in the World…

If the bracket shapes up to allow it, I have Team USA beating Sweden for the 4Nations title… I think Canada gets upset in the semi’s…

Goalies will rule this quick tournament…

Canadian fans would lose their MINDS if that happens. After the agony outpouring when they got bounced out of the World Juniors–complete with bitter recriminations and multiple rounds of finger-pointing–this 4 nations thing is the great Canadian last chance to re-acquire their sense of hockey supremacy.

The Canadian agony would probably be considered a spectator sport in itself if you’re right.

Billy G did an episode of Wild on 7th, it sounds like he REALLY wants to make a move at the deadline (He said “We have a HOLE to fill”) aka 2nd line scoring replacement for Jojo… but its all upto what capspace he has to work with, he won’t know that number until deadline day…

Im all here for it toast

I think if Helleubuyck plays well its the Americans tourney to lose. Gonna be an uphill battle for anyone else with him in net.
