And I wouldn’t say WD is exactly blasting or hating – just pointing out and explaining examples of why the kid needs to work on his footwork.

Said better than I did obviously. He has some work to do, but he isnt Clayton Stoner for crying out loud.

pretty sure the game was played in Colorado and they had the choice of what line to put out when Jiricek was on the ice for draws right? Yes, of course Jiricek’s limited minutes has an impact on that, not sure what young D-man in the league (other than a handful) would purposely get that matchup from his team?…The hate is online from non Wild fans saying he’s a bust and the Wild overpaid for him…

So the home team gets to decide who goes out for faceoffs in the offensive zone and if given the choice they chose NOT to put their top players out there when a flat footed giraffe is on the ice? OK, we have reached a new level.

You answered my point perfectly! Apparently the Avs didn’t think he’s the defensive liability otherwise Mac’s line would have jumped the boards every shift Jiricek stepped on the ice for a faceoff…Do you seriously not know how the home team last change rule strategy works?

Or maybe it has something to do with both Mackinnon and Jiricek on ice for 1 (ONE) D-zone faceoff. Wild clearly matching up Faber and Middleton against Mackinnon, and Bednar just putting him out for every O-zone faceoff like usual

Maybe you should elaborate your points and stop editing your posts to add/remove detail to try and dunk on people. We dont read tea leaves around here and your point about Jiricek is getting borderline annoying and creepy. At least you are infatuated about that for now instead of the MANY other things you seem to latch onto for days until you see something more glittery and go after that. How about go back to the offsides challenge or puck over glass or cross checks in front of the net. We havent heard those in a bit.

my point is the Avs didn’t feel there was a need to get Mac out against Jiricek when they could… to me that says alot about how his game is…

They most certainly were, which made what Joe was getting at that much laughable in his initial post basically intimating that if Jiricek was stuck on the ice that Bednar chose NOT put put his most talented guys out there. He would put them out there regardless of who was on the ice IMO and the Wild just got lucky we didnt get stuck very often. I am pleased with how Jiricek is playing. I didnt have much for expectations because I hadnt seen him play but figured garnering a #6 overall draft slot even CBJ couldnt be that bad or could they?

Really? you mean they didn’t want their 2 scrubs or their waiver pickup and a 21 year old who apparently cant skate to matchup against the best line in the NHL? that’s some next level stuff right there…

Joe you made it seem like it was impossible to match up since they were in Denver – explaining it like a child was to hopefully help you understand how they were able to keep the bottom pair away from Mackinnon

Not sure how we got here but I’m sensing some serious youth hockey parent energy when it comes to Jircek

Hard to matchup Mac vs a guy when he plays for 13 minutes which was lowest of any D. That and Brock played half the game, but I digress. I think the kid is playing fine but to throw comments about where the haters are at and then claim that the hate comes from fans of other teams is giving me a good chuckle. He is not exactly Bobbie Orr just yet and I don’t think we have log jam problem at D.

    vs what I bring up…

Like bringing up people from a different fan base trashing a guy that we just traded for and has played in what 4 or 5 NHL games for us and seems like a perfect fit where he is playing? OK, gotcha. I think we have come full circle now. I just picture this wheel of things to complain about that you spin and this week it keeps falling on Jiricek. Next it will probably be the strength and conditioning or training staff for not clearing players fast enough or catching these setbacks sooner. That would be a round for the ages.

I guess besides wormdunker I’m failing to see who is really blasting his skating. At the time of the trade that was talking from pundits but I haven’t seen or heard much lately. I think you are being the old man who yells at clouds.

230$ to ship a hockey stick via fed ex. Now if we all want to get mad about something let’s talk about that.
    On to my next option.

The weather looks good for Hockey Day this weekend at Valleyfair in Shakopee. Low to mid 20’s with days of bitter cold prior are about the best outdoor hockey conditions one could ask for. In recent years this event has suffered due to the lack of cold weather for outdoor ice.

The outdoor ice for the US Hockey Pond Hockey Championships which start on Thursday at Lake Nokomis also looks great. Last year the event had to be scrapped due to very warm temperatures and poor ice conditions.
