Biggest W of the season sofar… another big game by Jiricek! and Ohgren with a sneaky good game…

Let’s hope we get The Thrill back this week!

Again, no one remembers beating Dallas on the road in OT after flying there that morning on the first game without KL. jester

Flew home from a weekend in Vegas and didn’t expect to see the news of a win in Colorado. Awesome to hear.

Rip that sounds like a great time!

yep, I do, but this team had been getting whooped lately, this win stopped the bleeding to a division rival we haven’t beaten in a long time that would have swap positions with us had they won…

Had to try something. Man kiddo couldn’t buy a W at home.
Maybe I should look for a flight to Utah instead of home.
Team blocked a bunch of crucial shots today. Mac’s 5th gear is something else. Nobody else on the ice had that.

Gus had a terrible seat to the game.
Kids so jacked about the stick. Don’t know how I get it home in one piece.

That’s amazing! Probably just box it up and ship it home separate.

Wicked cool on the stick! Find a ups store and pay them to figure it out.

Wrapped it in cling wrap then duct taped it. Now thinking pool noodle and ship it. It’s close to snapping in half would like to keep it intact and see if I can get a still shot of it getting slashed. They gave away two sticks at the end and he got one. Actually pretty cool Avs fan said he could take his seat along the tunnel. So thank you to that guy.

Team was pretty jacked up heading up the tunnel after the game. They were chirping a bit.

Dad is now checking flights to Utah. coffee

find a local hockey shop and pay them to ship it, then when home take it to Integral hockey and get it repaired.

lol, where are the “He has terrible feet” blowhorns right now? I’m not saying he doesn’t need improvement with his stride, most do, but the things that were being said by Columbus fans & Wild haters trying to justify them giving up on him were comical…He was a possible save of the year away from having another Goal last night too…

When everyone gets healthy on defense, you gotta keep him in the 3rd pair, put Merrill on waivers, if he gets picked up, that capspace will help with all of our callup drama…

Fast forward to April, if all the Defense are healthy and Buium signed after DU’s season is over, what pairs would you go with for the playoffs? (Tough choices, what a nice problem to finally have)

    Faber – Middleton
    Spurgeon – Brodin
    Buium/Jiricek/Bogosian/Chisholm/Merrill

LOL showing that highlight as a ‘told ya so’ on his feet being good defending… nice. No one ever questioned his offense

So he’s replacing Bogo in the lineup then, right? Does Jiricek kill penalties? 3rd pair of Jiricek and Chisholm in the playoffs? Doubt that happens.

Thought Merrill had one of his best games in a Wild sweater yesterday – he might actually get claimed off waivers. The last thing this injury riddled team needs to do is give NHL players away. Depth on defense is a great problem to have heading into the back half of the season and playoffs. I say keep em all available.

You crack me up man, haters gonna hate I guess… everyone and their brother was saying his feet were clunky and stuck in cement, the clip merely shows he can be agile/shifty on his skates…Yes, its a small sample size, but his play sofar has warranted him getting more games on the 3rd pair, everybody has a microscope on him every shift hoping to find a play to say “See, his feet are slow! he can’t defend!” but turn a blind eye when Middleton/Bogo/Chisholm make the same mistakes…

The 5 D names I listed out for the 3rd pair in the playoffs aren’t in any particular order…those will just be the options to choose from…The Team loves Bogo so I don’t expect him to leave the lineup unless he’s hurt…

So who’s that 3rd pair for the playoffs? I assumed Jiricek, and who’s on the left side then?

The clunky feet and skating was always in reference to his defense, so I think showing that highlight to prove your haters wrong is pretty funny. I’m a little out of the loop lately but not seeing all these Jiricek haters – where they at? Maybe I wanna get in on the told ya so fun too

That is what I was hearing too. Not in reference to forwards, but mainly the transition to backwards/defending.

Can you imagine the outrage if it was Jiricek who ate $hit on the MacKinnon goal last night instead of Middleton?

The funny thing is that he’ll NEVER need to be a great defender, he’ll likely get paired with one…he’s like an Evan Bouchard, you accept the defensive liabilities he might have in return for the offense he can bring and defense can always be taught, offense on the other hand…

Who would this outrage be coming from? I dont think getting burned by a player of his caliber hardly warrants pitch forks. He was essentially shut down the rest of the game.

Will you find the video in the D zone of the penalty he took vs Nashville? I think Nashville scored like 8 seconds into that PP. He got walked in the d zone corner, I didn’t grab the video when it happened and flaunt it here because I thought anyone with half a brain would see that and realize that was a moment his footwork issues were evident. He struggled there. You just provided a highlight of what everyone knew was/is his strength pre trade; Offense, where he dictates where he is going and does not need to react.

The knock pre trade was d zone foot work, big man, tight space, tracking quick direction changes, reactions to all that. I like him, I like his upside. I do think he is a little rough in the d zone as was reported, but he is not nearly as rough as I thought he would be and has improved with ice time he has been given. AN has already worked to improve his skating. The future is so bright for Wild d. I cant think of another d corp that has transformed more in a short period and has potential to be elite than the wild, its exciting.

so it was the Oilers game, not Nashville, which shows how much you pay attention… Would you like me to link the thousands of similar plays made by every Defenseman in the league not named Cal f’ing Makar? or the 5+ other Wild PK’s that gave up a goal in the first few seconds (not sure why you thought that was relevant?)

    X2 X2 X2

All over social media people would be going “oh that’s the questionable guy minny gave up a 1st and a solid prospect for” and the media would have eaten it up. Obviously its mack, but it would definitely be a hot topic

Middleton simply slipped off his edge (Yes, MacKinnon makes everyone do that) but had it been Jiricek who did that, you know all the talk would have been about his “skating issues”

    that’s all i’m saying…

Again I’m not seeing all these Jiricek haters just waiting to cut the guy down. Maybe in Columbus but I’m not sure that city even knows they have an NHL team right now. Really never saw any hate from Wild fans, just hope and optimism – maybe some more cautious than others.

Tough for Jiricek to get embarrassed by Mackinnon when he played all of 2:18 against him. Middleton played 17:28 against him. Almost like there might be a reason for that.

I guess besides wormdunker I’m failing to see who is really blasting his skating. At the time of the trade that was talking from pundits but I haven’t seen or heard much lately. I think you are being the old man who yells at clouds.

And I wouldn’t say WD is exactly blasting or hating – just pointing out and explaining examples of why the kid needs to work on his footwork.

pretty sure the game was played in Colorado and they had the choice of what line to put out when Jiricek was on the ice for draws right? Yes, of course Jiricek’s limited minutes has an impact on that, not sure what young D-man in the league (other than a handful) would purposely get that matchup from his team?…The hate is online from non Wild fans saying he’s a bust and the Wild overpaid for him…

News at 11, Big defenseman gets a holding penalty on small offensive player escaping from a corner…

The hate is outside of the Wild fanbase, Wild fans have been saying everything i’ve pointed out, they aren’t seeing anything unique about his skating that would be described as a problem, lack of foot speed for a 6’4″ defenseman isn’t anything new, only the purple unicorns seem to have it…

Sorry but I have to disagree here. If he doesn’t learn and get better at defending he won’t last that long in the NHL. Tell Brock Faber you can’t learn offense.
He didn’t just magically decide on his own he could be an offensive threat. I guess I don’t really read fans comments from other fan bases about a wild player they have maybe seen play half a game. Isn’t it natural for other fans to hate on players from other teams. cough Bedard.

Anyway how about the big W. Let’s go wild. Kiddo was actually mumbling it to himself still this morning walking around the house we are staying at.

of course Jiricek needs to continue to work on his defense, but he’ll never be the guy you put out with 1 minute to go up by 1 goal…we already have guys for that situation…You don’t see the Canes put Gostisbere out in that situation either, etc…

Faber’s offensive development is a strange one and A-typical…You don’t just learn how to run a PP at the NHL level after not running one for your major Dev years, he likely always had the skillsets as he developed through the years but deferred to other players (Jackson LaCombe, etc) until he was forced to take the reins when Spurgeon went out last year and the coaches told him to just run with it…I’d love to hear Motsko’s answer about Brock’s offensive development and why he didn’t see it much at the Gophers?

How doesn’t a unique talent like Brodin not have more offensive numbers over his career? Is he not practicing it?
