I think we need to get into the analytics on where these faceoffs are. O zone, neutral, D zone? Strong side, weak side? After an icing and a long shift? Not all faceoffs are equal so it would really be important to get down to the bottom of this now that we moved on from the goalie mask padding.

In positive news it sounds like Faber is or will be OK. Unsure if he will be out much.

If its an important situation (PP/PK/end of game) would you rather have a 49% or a 55+% center taking the draw? In the last 5 or 6 games we played against teams that can put out a 55%+ center take them… Last night Barkov (63% on the season) went 12/16 for 75% on draws!, he won most of the PP & PK faceoffs taken all game. The good faceoff teams can put out a guy who typically has a big advantage over our Wild centers…that’s all…

I think there are far more pressing things to worry about now vs a couple percentage points on Faceoffs. Id rather focus on getting our guys healthy, Boldy and many others stop taking stupid penalties, shore up the PK and get spurgeon off PP1. All, or most of those things require very little work just effort. The FO thing takes a lot of dang practice and we have seen the progress Rossi has made, but we arent changing those numbers overnight but we can fix a lot of what else ails this team pretty quickly. We have had this tired argument for how many years now? Now that we arent arguing about crappy goal tending we have to focus on something else that we really cant easily fix.

You said teams have guys as in plural.
Was just stating most teams don’t have multiple guys at 55-60 percent.
Center is only part of the equation as well. You can certainly get a win if your wingers win their part as well.

Anywho Russo did have a good article stating they are at 30 percent or so on faceoffs on the PK. That’s not good.
Wild need to get healthy sooner than later.

Last night’s loss kept with the theme that they can’t beat the good teams other than the odd win every now & then… they play the Jets and Stars 2 of their next 4 games and the pesky Utah team tomorrow that haven’t lost in 6 games, we’ll see if it continues…Yes, they’ve had lots of injuries to key players lately, but they struggled against the better teams when they were healthy too…

The game earlier this season when we beat Florida handedly they were without Barkov and Thachuk just came back from missing a week…Bobrovsky was obviously off his game as well…

We need to start beating the good teams!

Can’t have it both ways with excuses of injuries.

Just go 1 and 0 for the game you play that night problem solved.

6 wins and 8 losses against the playoffs locks. 4 of those losses coming in the last 6 games

They’re in a rough patch, everything is bad, they can’t win faceoffs, the sky is falling. Blah blah blah

Yeah the last several weeks have not been good but more concerning to me than just losing to those teams its they are getting blown out in many of them. LA blasted them twice, Oilers and Panthers each did once.

Agreed. They’re getting spanked right now and that makes all the little mistakes seem so much worse and more glaring. Win a game or get a big save and no one remembers the little mistake in the 2nd period. Faceoffs are a perfect example. They’ve been the same all year but now that they’re losing games it’s like “oh this faceoff thing is just horrible, needs to be fixed, unacceptable”. But when they were winning no one cared about faceoffs. The losing isn’t going to last forever, just take a breath

Agreed. They’re getting spanked right now, not playing good hockey at all. But that’s not going to last forever

Exactly just like winning the rate they were was probably not going to happen forever either, but it sure was fun.

go read my posts, I specifically pointed out the last 5-6 games they played teams with Faceoff studs, when we face those teams our faceoff deficiencies stand out alot more… The Florida game was a perfect example, if you didn’t leave that game saying “holy $hit do we ever need to get better at faceoffs” then you didn’t watch the game…We lost pretty much every faceoff on special teams, Barkov owned the dot…

The next 4 games will be telling from a confidence perspective imo…do they go 2-2, 1-3 or a disastrous 0-4 or do they actually start beating the better teams…

No Way! Zeev Buium made Team USA for the WJC tourney, is he good or something? He’ll likely be named a captain as well…

Aron Kiviharju was named the youngest captain ever for Team Finland, Kumpelianen made the team as well…

And perhaps more importantly, there are 9 players from the State of Hockey on this team too. And an assistant coach. applause

Ok we used to have “wild ear tug guy” at intermissions with gorgeous. Now we have mustache twist guy and I don’t like him at all.

Impressive return by Faber. Maybe got a little lucky too, hopefully that turns our fortunes in regards to injuries.

Tired of spurgeon on PP1. No one else is saying it but he doesn’t belong there and he’s been there the entire time they e struggled. Let’s talk about faceoffs no, let’s talk about guys who aren’t meant to be in a position they are announced to.

There’s just no way we can stay this high in the standings all year with these special teams. It’s laughable now.

Playoff teams are going to beat the crap out of us just like the last few years if we can’t score on the pp. Although our pp did look better tonight, it was against a worse than mediocre pk team… and we still didn’t do anything.

Winnipeg has gotta be pumped to be playing us in Winnipeg on a back to back tomorrow.

Wild had their chances last night (4 pipes hit) but when things are in the dumps, that’s how it seems to go…. There is some sunshine over the horizon, Ek and Gusbus sound like they are back soon (likely for the Dallas game)

Tough game today, the way our offense has been playing (outside of the 1st line) Wallstedt is going to need to steal one….

Losing to Utah at home and doing nothing with our PP chances not good. Here comes the standings free fall.

Well nothing to see last night. Same old same old from the 1 goal wonder kids.

Another PK fail with yet ANOTHER goal surrendered less than 20 seconds into the kill. Could the PK suck any worse?

    Hartman. Useless. Absolutely useless.

Faber was the only thing good about last night. He was on the bench yelling at the guys the whole night trying to make something happen.

And finally the cute no look passing us driving me crazy.
