Are we really that shallow of a bench

Ek, Zuccy, Brodin, Middleton missing are 4 of our top 8…no team can just replace that with minor leaguers…the next 4-5 games will be tough until we start getting guys back…

    Yep.

Also Edmonton is a really good team that was firing on all cylinders last night. Oilers have more playoff series wins in the last 3 seasons than the Wild have in franchise history

Not great news that Middleton is being placed on LTIR. Looking like he needs surgery.

Anyone watch last night on ESPN+ via Hulu? Hulu throws its own paid advertisements in during the commercial breaks for the app and the Hy-Vee ad kept freezing my TV (and it was the same ad on every commercial break). So I had to constantly go back to the menu and re-launch the broadcast during every commercial. It only added to the pain and suffering of watching that hockey game. I know… 1st World problems…

Also – that Lauko fight was the only highlight of the night… My son’s Bantam team gets to play at the X tonight and I get to run the penalty box, I hope there’s still some blood in there.

My Samsung Smart ESPN TV App does that as well, very frustrating…I find that after doing the back to menu load steps 3-4 times it settles down….

You can’t make it up, Wild trade their only left handed Defenseman in the minors who’s NHL ready and then a week later lose a starting LH Defenseman to LTIR injury and have to shop on waivers to find a new one…

He’s got more points this season already than he had all of last season at WI. And he just scored the how-you-like-me-now tying goal and had an assist on the game-winner last weekend against WI.

BTW, I haven’t seen anybody with any real knowledge forecast Stramel as a top line guy in the pros. Realistic forecast is he’s a power guy that will be focused on dirty area offense on a middle line.

But even with that known going in, how long will it take for the calls of “another draft bust” to start when he joins the team? You know, just like when guys like Rossi, Boldy, and Ek were all called out for being busts.

Nice article by Russo and Smith the other day too.

Yeah, he’s likely going to be a 3rd line checking center in the NHL at his ceiling, imagine him centering Foligno and Trenin, my gawd that line would be HUGE…

He is a dang good skater! I knew they said he was a good skater, but he is a good skater regardless of size and especially considering how big he is. He was in front and blocked the Gophers goalie’s view almost deflected the point shot on one PP goal. Almost snuck a rebound in on another shot, but that was barely saved between the wickets. He seemed to be playing in all situations and was out a lot in OT.

It seemed to me Stramel’s “decline” at Wisconsin after the coaching change was just too fast.

Now with the days of the portal I’m starting to wonder if the portal isn’t also a convenient place for coaches to push athletes that aren’t exactly to their liking? Instead of trying to work with a player or to rectify as what they see as a recruiting mistake of the last coach, just make the guy ride the pine and make it obvious that the only option is to hit the portal and get out of town.

Sorry but a player like Stramel doesn’t just tip over like he did in Wisconsin. All the focus was on what Stramel was doing wrong and nobody was talking about what was wrong with Hastings that he wasn’t able to do anything other than benching a player like Stramel. I mean the kid manages to make himself a round one draft pick and suddenly Hastings doesn’t have the time of day for him?

Hastings is looking like he might be heading for the “portal” himself.

In the Russo article it was mentioned that while in Wisconsin stramel was not in good shape but when he transfered he really pushed himself.

Indeed! Let’s hope it stays that way. I’m sure they wouldn’t rush them back but let’s hope they are 100%

Most of the blame for Stramel’s drop in plays falls on Charlie… He didn’t make the USA World Juniors team as a returning member, thats pretty rare and just shows how the talent evaluators saw the drop in his play as well, not just Hastings bias…

He seems to be in a good place now and you have to remember he’s underaged, so he’s basically a year behind developmentally, he has time…

The issue with the Wild is they likely need to decide to offer him a contract this summer or risk he goes back to Michigan State and turns into a 4 year senior UFA the following August…

Brodin worries me as a bad back can go out at anytime… Zuccy just needs to protect his ballz…

I dont like Spurgeon on the PP1 unit… just no threat of shooting the puck so the PK overplays his passes…

The punch missed his face by a foot…

Maybe Stramel is just in a better spot at MSU than he was at Wisconsin. I know Wisconsin beat them last weekend but Sparty is clearly better than the Badgers this season if you look at their body of work as a whole.

Can’t help but be impressed by the quick rise of Michigan State either. They were a laughing stock and perennial doormat in the Big Ten for many years. Nightingale has turned them around in just a few seasons, and a large part of that is from the transfer portal.

Wow that spot KK had to hit was the size of a small plate off the back wall and he hit it.

The severe downturn in the PP was when spurgeon was put on the PP1 unit. I mentioned it many pages ago. Faber is so much better in that spot.

Vegas got smoked by Edmonton today and then have to fly to Minneapolis (likely hit some delays) for our 5pm game tomorrow… To say they won’t be fresh is an understatement….

When I go to Vegas next month I’m counting on you to give me predictions like that.
