That’s garbage. So now the stanley cup finals will be in July instead.

No it won’t, settle down Gim

Last year regular season went Oct 10 to April 18
This year regular season goes Oct 4 to April 17

And now we get a cool national team tournament to watch instead of the usual awful all-star game and skills competition

You don’t actually watch the skills/all star game, do you?

i’m guessing they won’t have the “bye week” for teams this year like they did last season, that and a slightly tighter schedule (fewer multiple days off) solves the 2 week hiatus…

Will be interesting to see if any teams that don’t have alot of participants get any type of boost when the season resumes…it’s only a maximum of 4 games I think, but its just a worry about injuries happening… I’m really interested to see what the pace/attitude is of the games, you’d think guys will be going 110% and play physical but most of the players on all teams are more skill than grit…

IDK which 4 countries are represented to even know if they would be physical type players in it, but I would doubt it would be much different than world championships or the olympics. US and Canada are obviously in it and guessing Russia most certainly is not.

Canada, USA, Sweden, Finland… The Wild will for sure have Ek & Boldy and probably Brodin, Wallstedt, Faber in it…

Canada obviously has the forward advantage, but their likely top goalie choices are a mess…I think Team USA can put the best overall team on the ice…

This will be the first time Team USA is able to put their best players together since they pumped so much money and resources into building up the USNTDP Program x amount of years ago…

New Wild on 7th Videocast with Mikko Koivu. Interesting in that it’s the most I’ve ever heard him talk in all the years he was with the Wild, he’s still Robocop imo…

obviously it won’t resonate with every player/person who maybe values the biggest contract they can get, but go to 1:08 of the video to hear a good example from Mikko of what can draw NHL players to want to play for the Wild… it might sound silly, but its from Mikko’s mouth…

Does the NHL keep track of player turnovers? I’d love to see Kaprizov’s number, its gotta be ridiculously huge…

Yes, you let him do what he wants to do and he makes more good plays vs bad, but I bet he leads the team by a longshot…

He had 12 turnovers going into the game. Yes leads the team but would expect that as he has the puck on his stick more than anyone else.

    2nd Bogo 8
    3rd Faber 7

He had 73 in 75 games last year.

2 of their 4 wins have come against lowly Columbus. It’s likely the Jackets finish at or near the bottom of the standings this season.

Their next two games are on the road at the champs and the bolts. We’ll see how they stack up against some better competition.

    Pffff.

Agreed Rip these are professional teams regardless of how bad they are doesn’t matter. Beating them does. Idk how good tampa is this year to know if this was significant but many other great wins this season.

Per puck touch, Merrill has the highest turnover rate in NHL history.

Captain did you watch this game on Fan Duel or whatever it’s called? I’ve been thinking about getting that so I can watch this season but it’s seemed like there have been some performance issues with that app/ streaming.

Rossi making an absolute statement tonight. Top line center? Yes I am. What a pass to open the scoring.

Really a total team win. Getting the wild off to a better early season start is a huge accomplishment.

Check out Uzzu. You can watch every NHL, MLB, NFL and NBA game. Most have home and away feeds. $120 a year if you pay up front. Otherwise it’s around $20/ month if you go monthly. No speed issues at all.

Just incredible vibes right now, everything is going right. Great game from Flower. Rossi continues to look the part every game, hope he takes that spot and never looks back. Lock him up long term.

Jojo even blocked a shot last night, that should tell you everything about Hynes getting guys to buy in this season sofar…

Even with this exceptional start, there’s still several issues they need to improve on to get even better!

Foligno, Trenin and Gaudreau are MIA sofar… Trenin signing looks like a huge mistake, I just don’t see anything he brings to the table?

It looks like we’ll finally get to see what a full season of “Dialed in Kirill” looks like…Art Ross here he comes!

What are you watching? Foligno and Trennin have been good. They have a role and it is NOT to score goals. 17 crushed on the forecheck constantly last night. 13 was all over pucks. Have you played? do you know what it feels like to be trying to retrieve a puck as a defender KNOWING one of those guys is about to try to put you in the front seat? Zone exits are impacted adn the puck stays deep. IT happened all night last night. Freddie is not impactful but Foligno and Trennin have been forecheck machines. Don’t you have a cap hit to worry about?

The big boys are #1 and #2 in hits by a good margin. It’s not every game but when they’re in on the forecheck consistently it’s painful to watch… for the opposing D. I think it was Trenin that absolutely crushed Dunn against Seattle, perfect example. They’ve also given up absolutely nothing, what maybe 1 goal against?

Curious your thoughts on Liam Ohgren’s game, Joe?

I mentioned in another post that they were noticeable in the Seattle game and yes, they played better last night (2 games out of 7) and yes I absolutely agree they aren’t hurting us (honestly, nobody is when you’re 5-0-2) but if you think what they’ve provided in 7 games isn’t an issue that needs improvement (for a team that doesn’t have many issues right now) then we might as well stop discussing Wild hockey. Their meh play sofar has been mentioned by Russo and the Pre/Post game guys too, they just say they need more time to turn their games around…again, i’m just saying its something that needs to get better…

Ohgren needs to be in Iowa playing 20+ minutes a night (he played less than 7 last night) not sure why they hyped all of the “better AHL bottom 6 guys” they signed (Boyd, Gaunce, Clarke) this offseason but haven’t called any of them them up yet (its not capspace related as Ohgren makes more than all of them) maybe they just don’t want to mess with something obviously not broken or maybe its just position/role related?

What’s the issue? That they’re not scoring and getting points?

They’re not getting scored on, they’re not giving anything up 5v5, they’re playing in the o zone, and they’re the only physical presence on the team.

They just didn’t do anything for 5 of the 7 games sofar, they were invisible… if they played every game like the Seattle game, nobody would bring their game up as needing to be better…some offense is absolutely required, but I don’t expect much… They are obviously paid more to provide some offense though, you can find guys anywhere who can forecheck for the league minimum…

Again, its nitpicking an area needing improvement for a team without a regulation loss, but if you had to choose 3 guys on the Wild right now who need to be better than they have been, who would you pick outside of Foligno, Trenin and Freddy? Maybe Ohgren, but he’s a rookie playing 6 minutes a game…

Marat and Lauko have been much more impactful game after game imo…

Russo recently put out a story on Rossi and his pending contract. He’s convinced the Wild want to do a 2 year bridge deal vs anything long term…the reasoning is they want to see what Yurov looks like as an NHL center next year as they think he has a higher offensive ceiling…They have zero plans to move Marco to wing…but that could be a path for Yurov…

Will be tricky figuring out a top 6 next season if the Leopold plan is still to go after a UFA at the trade deadline or this offseason (all signs point to Boesser)

I don’t use the app and heard it sucks. I have DirecTV stream and this time it didn’t buffer like the Florida game.
