Very solid game from almost start to finish. They weathered the storm early but didn’t allow anything and then capitalized.

2nd longest streak in history to start a season not trailing in the game.
    Kind of weird not wild.

Post game just said Rossi is Granny 2.0…let’s hope not.

We should trade Gus now. Sell high…Sell high. Sorry couldn’t resist Joe jester

Last year this team started 6-20. So applause

I didn’t catch any of the game tonight…looks like they dominated the champs? Doesn’t look like the 3rd line did anything again?

Anybody else with ESPN+ constantly getting a “Your Event is Starting Soon” screen interruptions during NHL games?

finally watched the game recap, I can’t believe Ek removed his bubble so soon after surgery, the dude is just asking for it to get rebroken again…

handful of really good saves by GusBus but otherwise most shots were easy saves, Defense playing well… Rossi looking great at 1C…

Still nothing from Foligno, Gaudreau & Trenin…that’s $9.6 million in capspace doing/providing nothing…Foligno had 1 game where he was a freight train (Opener?) and then nothing…Freddy was supposed to bounce back this season right? nothing…No idea what they saw in Trenin to give him a $3.5 x 4 contract, he looks like his feet are in cement…

While Hartman is out, I would put Marat back on the 4th line, he’s too fast for Foligno and Trenin….

I think we’ll see one more attempt for Spurgeon to play this season (likely in a week or two) but if it results in ANY setbacks I think they shut him down for a LONG time and they look for a Veteran on the final year on his contract, maybe he comes back if they make the playoffs (ala Mark Stone)

We just need to manage capspace enough to sign Brock Boesser at the trade deadline )

Yeesh, I just looked at Wallstedts stats this year and hes allowed 12 goals in 2 games. That is not good. If memory serves I think he started slow last year too.

it was his first games in 3+ weeks, he didn’t play well, he faced 42 shots in his first game and pretty much everyone not named Hunter Haight quit in game 2…Iowa Wild are not a good team again this year so it will likely be a LONG season for Jesper…

of those 12 goals scored on him, only 2 were PP goals, 2 were Short handed and rest were even strength, that screams this is a bad team working through more growing pains, they gave up 9 goals in the first 2 games…

I’d guess any trades the Wild makes this year will include 1 or 2 of the young defenseman in Iowa (likely O’Rourke & Lambos)

Really impressive play last night. The Wild certainly seems to have Bob figured out. I think that is the second game in a row where they sent him on the skate of shame to the bench.

Zuc, KK, Rossi, Ek and Boldy on offense are all just feeling it right now. I love how all these guys can scorers and setup men in equal measures. That Boldy to Jojo goal and the KK to Zuc off of Rossi goals were great setups where the D was focused on stopping the puck handler from getting a shot rather than the pass. Making it really hard on defenses now, they don’t know where the shot is going to come from.

The Wild / NHL TV situation is just bullshit. Hey, let’s spread games out over 3 networks so we can have 3x the technology issues. What a great idea! Let’s make fans miss the games and slice our own viewer stats to tank the ad rates and make it so nobody can make money on broadcasting games. Hey ESPN minus, how are your advertisers feeling about last night’s ratings and viewer numbers? Not good I’ll bet.

truer words have never been spoken in this thread…the good news is I think the Wild at least will figure out a good viewing solution next season…

Finally can somebody explain to me how last night’s goal by Bennett was not a kick in? When the foot is extended forward outside of the normal skating motion and such that it is the only point of contact that directs the puck into the net, how is it not kicked in?

I can understand how turning your skate sideways while stationary to alter the angle the puck is redirected isn’t considered a kick. But moving your skate forward such that it intercepts the puck and directs into the net would seem to me to be kicking the puck into the net.

The way I understand the new interpretation is that you just can’t kick a mostly stationary puck in, but anything that resembles a deflection is going to be counted… I agree it’s gray when the player is in motion, but the league wants more goals…

Seattle has perfected the skate/body backdoor deflection play on their powerplay, they scored with it against the Wild…like I said in a post weeks ago, it wouldn’t surprise me to see some team purposely lay a player on the ice at an angle on the backdoor and literally shoot at his body for the deflection…

I believe the official rule is that if it doesn’t look exactly like a kicker shanking a 27 yarder wide left with 26 seconds remaining in a playoff game down 10-9, then it’s not a kick. They’re calling it the Blair Walsh rule

When do you think GMBG offers Marco a new contract? Obviously the risk is the longer you wait and he stays at a PPG player, the price goes up and if you go short term and he blows up into a 70+ point player then you maybe can’t afford him in 3 years. Gotta think Anton Lundell’s deal (6 x $5) is the baseline if they want to go longer term? I think GMNG would be ecstatic if Marco took a similar deal.

kinda tricky guessing what kind of player he is in 2-3 years, does he stay around 40 points or blown up to 70+ player? I think he’s shown enough to warrant a longer term deal, the fact that he’s been so healthy puts to bed alot of talk regarding his size…

He tried harder for that eng than he has since his last playoff game…

I know they don’t ask how, they ask how many but I just don’t like that he’s going to beat the record like this. He’ll keep playing as long as he needs to just to break it with empty netters. Not a fan of that mentality personally.

I don’t think there is a need for an asterisk if Ovi makes it. He has played at a high level for so long. A couple of empty netters aren’t going to be the reason for his achievement.

Gretzky was the all time empty net goal leader until Ovi broke that record only 2 goals ago…so even the Great One never turned down a chance at an empty netter…Ovi wasn’t even on the ice when Philly pulled their goalie the 1st time and got scored on. Torts kept the goalie out again afterwards and then Ovi’s shift came up and he scored…

He has definitely started to show his age more, but he was really slow scoring the start of last season and everyone said he was done and then he went on a hot goal streak the 2nd half…I think he’ll get close this season and then break it for sure early next year…

Yes, they are for 2 weeks mid February

That’s garbage. So now the stanley cup finals will be in July instead.
