couple of telling things from last night…
1) Gus Nyquil is nowhere near the same player he was last time he was here, he might be serviceable as a 3rd or 4th line guy when we hopefully get everyone healthy, but that’s his ceiling nowadays…his speed and hockey brain have really slowed down..
2) The PK CANNOT let that full cross ice pass happen (resulting in the Kempe goal) that’s PK’ing 101 and yet we continue to let it happen all of the time (is was Nyquil who’s stick was lazy in the passing lane)
3) They played a clip of Hynes talking about injuries between one of the periods and he said Brodin is likely close to coming back as he’s skated consecutive days in a row now BUT more importantly he said Ek and Kirill are progressing well OFF the ice. I know its not on the ice yet, so they are still weeks away, but at least we now know they are physically working out off it and not shutdown due to a relapse, this was assumed but never confirmed…we’re really grasping for straws to get any update on Kirill…
4) Rossi, Boldy & Faber all looked like they had a little more pep in their step last night…
5) Foligno complaining about injuries to the press and then missing that nights game with an apparent last minute injury is par for the course this season…
big 2 points earned last night, it made up for the previous bad Penguins or Blues loss and Calgary lost last night so it pushed one of the teams battling for the last Wildcard spot a bit farther out…big games tonight with the Blues, Flames and Canucks all playing..
