No Rantanen to the Stars deal yet…turns out Carolina only gave Dallas permission to talk to Rantanen’s camp last night…

it will be very interesting to see who’s going to Carolina if they get a deal done today. Dallas has multiple big $ extension deals coming soon for Johnston, Stankhoven, Robertson and others, they can’t afford everybody…They would also want to re-sign Benn or Duchene next season as well…

This is fun, I hope Rantanen ends up rumored to somewhere else yet too. What teams loves Finns like Carolina and Dallas? Maybe Nashville

If it is Dallas, Robertson is the return that makes sense to me, $$$ and lineup spot match up

Shouldn’t you be getting your resume shined up for that Carolina GM job

I just hope Nelson is a rental there

lol, I don’t stand a chance knowing what the Canes owner looks for in Hockey IQ for who he hires… You should screenshot some of your gems from this thread and start a blog, odds are that’s where he’ll be looking…

I just can’t do it with the same level of unwavering confidence in myself that you do, Joe. I think we need to team up for the job. The Great hockey minds of IDO take over Raleigh

not a rental at that price paid… Lou did really well aided by tons of teams desperate for center help jacking up the price…

A Wild equivalent prospect would have been Yurov…

It just wouldn’t work out… you would be constantly asking to trade for guys like Middlestadt or Reaves that I would shoot down and my trade suggestions would never meet your strict analytic requirements or you would find a post I made 5 years ago where I said why we shouldn’t trade for that guy )

I fully expect the Carolina owner to be the first in pro sports to hire a ChatGPT AI bot to be his GM…

I’m thankful that the TSN/ESPN Trade Center shows will finally have some news to break this year…

Ripping on the Carolina when they’ve been in the mix at the top of the East for like 5 years now. Not to mention also in the mix for the Prospect Pool Cup every season too – that’s like your dream team, how are you so down on that?!?!

Reaves?? LOL now you’re going back years and just making stuff up? Must not be much there. Thankfully you provide us with an endless supply of content to rip on daily chased

If Rantanen to Dallas doesn’t go through they at least need to tell us who was getting traded from Dallas. Make it extra awkward in that locker room

That makes sense from a lineup spot as you said, but if Rantanen ends ups getting close to the $14 aav he wants it will almost double Robo’s AAV…Wyatt Johnston is rumored to be close to a $9aav x 8 year extension starting next year, Stankhoven the year after, Ottenger’s deal doubles next year and I’m guessing they’ll want Duchene and or Benn back at a aav’s…big Seguin still has 2 years left on his deal…it will be tight if not impossible to keep them all…still a good problem to have, one the Wild will likely be in 2-3 years down the road…

If the price is right, I could see Dallas just renting Rantanen for the playoffs…something I expected Vegas to try and do today…

That was all Don Waddell, i’m just ripping on the new “GM”

And Don Waddell left because he was just a puppet – it’s been Tulsky and the owner running the ship in Carolina for years. Tulsky just gets to wear the captain hat now

Robertson only has 1 season left on his cheap bridge deal and will be close to the Rantanen AAV after that. Not $14m but for sure over $10m if he goes long term. Will be interesting to see how close Rantanen gets to $14m in the end

The only multiple highlight video clip I could find of Brazeau, and it’s 1:13 long )

He kinda looks like a bigger Jason Allison in terms of slow gangly skating stride & arm movement (no i’m not saying he’ll be anything close to Jason Allison)

It doesn’t look like he’s much of a physical guy with only 16 penalty minutes on the season and 12 of those came at the very end of one game with a 2+10 minute misconduct…The Bruins tried him some on the PK this season, but it was the first time he’s played it since Juniors… he’ll fit right in…

Highlight reel of 3 goals but most importantly the first one is against Ryan Suter, so we like him.

Big, slow, and sneaky good hands makes me think the hopeful comparison is Pat Maroon. But yeah that doesn’t work since he doesn’t hit much, and apparently the guy has never fought?? Is that right?

IDK who Jason Allison is and I have never heard of this guy so I am definitely not putting my chair out yet for the parade route.

I think any NHL GM would leave when the Owner is crazy and listening to a Chemistry Scientist more than him…Maybe moneypuck will eventually work, only time will tell, but that’s 2 high end UFA’s they traded for with the intention of signing longterm that failed in a span of 12 months, one left for basically nothing, the other will likely fetch a good return because he’ll be in the playoffs, but odds are it won’t match what they paid a month ago…Doug Risebrough would be proud…

    What!?!
He was the poster child for Big, slow, and sneaky good hands… was a PPG player for 5+ seasons (late 90’s-early 2000’s) for the Bruins/Kings/Leafs and then just FELL OFF A CLIFF and disappeared from the NHL…Brazeau just looks like him on the ice from the few clips of him playing that exists… We’ll find out more tonight, the Wild told him to get on a plane to Vancouver asap…

Carolina has the best points percentage in the NHL over the last 5 seasons – you’re talking about them like they’re the Buffalo sabres

I’m not… I’m simply saying their new GM is in way over his head, the pieces for their success have been in place for many years already…

You’re claiming he’s secretly been the shadow GM and architect of their recent 5 year success?

I’m just regurgitating what the Friedmans of the league said when Waddell left last summer. It wasn’t a secret that Tulsky and the owner were the ones making decisions

Yeah I pulled his name out of thin air…he was one of the better players in the league for a 5 season stretch (485 points in 552 games) before injuries and the lockout year derailed his career..let’s just move on…

Watch this trade fall through. How would you feel if you were Rantanen? Traded twice, but one is contingent on signing and you quash that one and have to go back to the Canes? Not that it would be a major downgrade or anything, but they didnt want you or probably realized they couldnt get a deal done on an extension.

well, the Canes WANTED him so much that they traded for him without any guarantee they could sign him, but as we know the Canes don’t like to pay huge salaries and maybe thought they could leverage their regular season success as a reason to sign with them? They failed on that with Guentzel and now maybe with Rantanen…The TSN guys just said Dallas is holding firm on the $12aav offer and pushing the no state income tax benefit for why $12aav is more than enough…

I still think Vegas could pull a total Vegas move and swoop in last second and get him today (they’ll find a way to fit him under the cap this season (his caphit is pretty small) and i’ll never doubt their ability to figure out how to extend him…)

I haven’t paid attention if Nyquist has played PK since he got here, but if you’re GMBG, how do you not make a move today to help fix your PK?
