And if he stays they have a chance to win the cup. Only teams that have nothing to play for are going to sit a guy close to deadline.

Their GM knows he’ll get fired if they do anything BUT win the cup this year, so I guess all logic is out the window…

They hired him this summer. So now they’re gonna fire the gm after his first season for anything less than winning the cup?? You’re on a heater Joe, don’t stop, tell us more

Wasn’t Marat one of Judd the magician picks and prized prospect just a few years ago. That was going to be part of this young core. I am willing to bet this guy plays with GRIT. whistling

Carolina’s owner is a nutjob and he tried to recreate Moneyball bringing in a Chemstry scientist and former Flyers nutjob blogger to be his industry outsider puppet GM…

Maybe his GM decisions make sense on a nanoscale level, that’s where all of his experience is…

And Brock has officially told Lou for the last time. Thanks for the offer but I ain’t coming back.

Come on Joe I need some analysis of this Wild trade. Surely you have followed this guy since he was drafted, I mean a prospect, or er um since he battled his way through ECHL.

Per Russo, part of the reasoning they traded Lauko is because they are worried about his injuries moving forward…

Um…. isn’t that an issue with like 3/4 of our team?

So it’s two speedy 4th liners for one big boy 4th liner. Russo called the Marat trade when Billy said he was sent down for financial reasons.

    Anyone know anything about Brazeau?

Don’t forget about the valuable 6th rounder we gave up.

He is a right shot. Just what Joe was asking for. rotflol

There’s like a 90%+ chance we find out if you’re right about him getting fired.

We gained $12,500 in capspace with this deal, Billy’s gonna cook with that tomorrow )

Pronman just put out a trade grade recap, gave the Wild a B+, Bruin’s a B-, said Brazeau is the best player in the trade and has turned himself into a fulltime NHLer after being undrafted, called Lauko and Marat bubble NHLers…

He’s friggin huge and played in front of the net on Boston’s PP2 unit and apparently was effective, can’t say I ever noticed him once when we played them or even heard his name though…

Khustnitdinov was one of the poor blocked prospects who doesn’t get a chance because of all the vets taking his rightful lineup spot

It’s really Hartman and Freddy’s fault that he wasn’t good

no its not a direct quote Officer Pyle, Pronman was confident Brazeau had an NHL future after being undrafted, Lauko and Marat not so much, if you want the exact text get an Athletic subscription and go read the story…

Colorado paid the big package for Nelson. 1st, 3rd, real prospect, and a fringe NHLer. I remember real early in the season someone questioned if Nelson would get a 1st at the deadline rotflol

    Nelson to the Avs

I remember when Middlestadt was traded to the Avs and somebody said it was a great move and would solve their 2C needs… )

Shouldn’t you be getting your resume shined up for that Carolina GM job

I just hope Nelson is a rental there

Thanks bud got a subscription that’s why I said it. He said he is useful not full timer like you said. Bit of a difference. Considering he has yet to play a full season and is a 27 year old UFA.
You also thought Marat was useful. In fact said looked like one of the best players for a game or two and then disappear like 2 pages ago.
Pretty sure you won’t say Brazeau looks like one of their best players. Considering in the same artical it states he is one of the slowest players in the entire NHL.

Looks like your future prediction of Marat centering Beckman and Walker has finally officially fallen apart.

Don’t think Hartman will be playing wing anytime soon.

lol, I don’t stand a chance knowing what the Canes owner looks for in Hockey IQ for who he hires… You should screenshot some of your gems from this thread and start a blog, odds are that’s where he’ll be looking…

lol, you’re arguing about 4th liners trying to justify to yourself if you can put a couple marks next to your name on some imaginary scorecard you seem to be keeping?!?

What time are you expected back at the home? Say hi to Ray Finkle for me!

Beckman and Walker have left the Wild, its time for you to let them go, however hard that might be for you apparently…

I have a feeling the Wild will be one of the first team’s to strike a big trade, they need to get ahead of teams with more capspace and draft pick assets so they don’t get outbid and forced to dig too deep into their prospect pool to pay.

I think they make a trade sometime this weekend…I think Ohgren, Khusnutdinov, Heidt, Haight, Chisholm, Kumpelainen, Several of the Iowa defenseman and the 2026 2nd round draft pick are all part of GMBG’s currency to spend with… Some combination of those pieces should be enough to get pretty much any deal done, whomever they get will be looked at to re-sign after this season (no rental only players)

    Nailing it Kevin Weekes. rotflol

You boys need some sleep, best to hit the hay and dream about GMBG signing your boys to 5 year term contracts or better yet, maybe we claim Reaves off waivers so we can simultaneously have the worst skater in the league at the same time! (Hopefully I got that wording absolutely perfect!)

Well Thanks to Tom Dundon’s hockey version of moneyball we now get to deal with a red-hot Necas on the avs and an absolutely stacked Dallas forward group now with Rantanen. Basically Carolina just made the central division hell for us.

Are you looking for a “great job on the commentary” for things that have already happened? You’re somehow batting 1,000 there! Great job! How do you do it?

Yep. And for years to come since Rantanen will be signing an extension with the Stars as part of this trade. It will be interesting to see if he finds his game in Dallas. I tend to think he will fair better there than he was in Carolina since leaving Colorado.
