We had the sleds out this past weekend in Northern Minnesota on up to 10 inches of ice. There wasn’t a lot of snow on top either. A little slush exists where there was snow and a lot of slick spots otherwise. There is probably a foot of snow on land.

I was going to set up on the cabin lake this morning. But with only 7 inches of ice and with the rain overnight and being by myself not happening. Just don’t trust it

How far North is there that much snow?

Saw a small hard-sided wheel house out on Prior Lake on Saturday. A bunch of hubs out as well on Prior and Spring Lake.

Fished a small lake by Hudson and had about 4 to 6 inches of ice. Was about to get a few decent perch for a little fish fry.

I am seeing a few shelters out on the St Croix looking of the Hwy36 bridge.

There were trucks on White Bear Lake yesterday … pretty far on the west side of the lake.

Got on a bluegill bite on a local lake with 8-9″ of clear, solid ice. Was in about 10 FOW.

Anybody know what the rain and warm weather has done to the ice?

Bryon, it turned them in to skating rinks. Bring the cleats. I was gonna take the new wheeler today but haven’t got chains for it yet and pretty sure I’d get stuck on the wet skating rink of a lake. It didn’t do much to the ice thickness as far as I can tell. Might be good to error on the side of caution. If people just started taking trucks, might be good to take a wheeler instead. It was an easy drag to hoof it with cleats this mornin.

Saw videos of water going down holes. Never a good sign.

It’s a wet one today. 1/2 to a full inch of water on the low spots. Ice is still thick. Seems every one stayed home. No one within eye sight. Fish are biting.

Don’t need a lake name but how far north and/or west of the Twin Cities?

I’m west of the cities enough that we didn’t get any rain. most of the snow has melted and have water on the ice but the 12″ of ice is still solid. I did go out and moved my house to fresh ice. I think I will take it off tomorrow.

Thanks. Changing plans for Monday from Metro lake to further northwest. Waterproof gear sounds like a must, more so than usual.

One week of wet mush. Cold weather and better ice (albeit cleats will be necessary) should coincide nicely with the end of MN upland bird seasons.
