Who’s to say Mac Jones wouldn’t have done better here under a different system? So much about these young QBs is development and KOC is a quarterback-heavy coach. He used to be one and rode the bench behind the GOAT for a year or two. Obviously you cant say it was development for a guy who’s only been here 5 days, but it was definite O’Connell’s DIRECT coaching in Sunday’s game that lead us to the victory.

Pro football is all about developing a game plan based on film. There was no game film on Dobbs. The more they form a formal game plan the more opposing Defenses will be “prepared”.

It should be an entertaining remainder of the season. Injuries continue to build.

O’Connell never seems to ride players – even with his facial expressions for making a mistake. They coach the player making the mistake to minimize reoccurrence. Seems like the right way to approach most things.

Yeah I guess our definitions of a franchise QB could be different. Very simplistic I am talking about a guy the team can be excited about going forward. A guy to give legitimate hope and build around.

Will Levis certainly passed the eye test, albeit in only 2 games. Today the Titans announced he would be the starting quarterback going forward and Tannehill would be back up.

Dobbs had a remarkable game, that’s for sure. And I think he’ll be capable of stacking some wins especially in this weak part of our schedule. However, I’m most interested in the bigger picture and who is our QB going forward.

Maybe he’ll catch lightning in a bottle, I guess only time will tell.

    Yeah definitely different.
I look at Levi’s as a potential franchise QB. Good start no doubt but literally hundreds of potential QBs come and go with very little length of success.

Franchise QB in my mind is a guy with tens years of success with a team with playoff success of some sort.
Understanding that winning the Super Bowl is more than having a franchise QB.
No I don’t think Dobbs is that potential franchise guy either.

There are more Matt Flynn Jimmy Garrapolo type QBs than have a hot start and fizzle than franchise QBs.

You could say that about every QB who didn’t make it. I agree with you about KOC, and think that is the main reason they move on from Kirk for a rookie. If your HC can elevate any QB to serviceable or better, no sense tying up the salary and resign everyone else.

Well he played every game for the cardinals up to last week so there most certainly is film on him albeit not in a Vikings uniform.

I was going to say that too. There’s plenty of film on him just this season already.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but apparently Hall isn’t likely to be ready by Sunday, and Mullens isn’t either even though he’s coming off IR. So the backup to Dobbs is expected to be Sean Mannion. God help us if he has to come in. He honestly should never be off the practice squad.

Tanner Morgan was called back up and will likely be a backup

Might be an unpopular opinion but it actually excites me out Tanner gets to dress Sunday. A lot of us have commented on liking his character and I’m happy if he gets this chance. If we get to our 6th string QB I’m not worried too much about keeping a game close at that point.

I don’t wish Dobbs to get hurt. But I hope somehow Morgan gets in. Seriously

Tanner is signed to the practice squad. Not as the backup.
Only chance he has to see a play on Sunday is if both QB’s are out of the game. Dobbs and Mannion.
If Hall can clear protocol by Sunday Tanner won’t even be the emergency QB at that point.

Kind of crazy that the Vikes 3 Qb’s to start the season are all out at the same time.

I think the Saints D is going to come in charged up to show up Astro Dobbs. I think it’s going to be tough sledding for the Vikes this weekend. Saints 24- Vikes 13.

I love Dobbs as an individual, but I’m not a believer just yet. He is gonna have to slay some more dragons first.

This week’s game should be a competitive game with equally matched teams. Carr is just good enough to keep a team in most games but not carry a team single handedly. The Vikings offense has some weapons even without JJ but will rely on Dobbs for some play making ability in big spots again with a dismal running game.

The Vikings have a bit of momentum and legitimate Wildcard aspirations that should help their improving defense make plays. The Saints D has some savy veterans in key spots but hasn’t probably played quite up to their potential.

IF Minnesota can avoid turning it over more than once I think they escape with a narrow 23-20 victory. If they turn it over more than once, I’d likely flip that score the other way with a narrow Saints victory.

Both of these teams just scream 9-8 to me on paper. Solid, but not great.

Good lord why hasn’t Dobbs been successful at any of the other teams he’s played for? He’s looked damn good sofar for the Vikes…

He’s fun to watch not just standing in the pocket waiting to get hit. In the long term he isn’t Cousins but it is fun to watch receivers running wide open all over the place.

Lest we forget….just like last week this is a average team they are playing. Just another mediocre NFC South team.

I really like that he’s not a qb that panics in the pocket and immediately runs. He hangs in there and runs if he has too. Tough to defend that.

Dobbs lacks the cinder block shoes that Kirk has

Yes he does. However, in the long run, running QBs fail because their bodies simply cannot hold up and the NFL is a passing league.

Take what you can get, for now.

Dobbs also shows he can also step up in the pocket and deliver some strikes
He also has no JJ or KJ

It could be argued that this guy is a scrambling QB, not a running QB. His eyes are downfield. From the small sample size he looks more Steve Young than Mike Vick. whistling (yes that might have been a poop at the overly ambitious optimism of your average Vikings fan…)

The impressive play of the offensive line cannot be over looked either here. There is ample time to allow almost every play to develop.

It’s nice to be completely wrong. That Saints D was broken by the end of the first half.

Still, a half to go. I wonder if the Saints will show up or just pack it in.

    KOC needs to go.
Can’t believe they signed Hock for what they did.
    They should have tanked.
Should have not picked up Dobbs.
They had a top ten picked locked up what were they thinking. whistling
