tough break for Kirk. next man up tho.

i was a fan of Jaren Hall and was pleasantly surprised that they took him in the draft. hey at least they will see if they need to draft one next year or if this kid can play?

With Hall taking over the reigns, will the Vikes be sellers with trade deadline looming?

Well I was dead wrong about the Vikings and the last three games. Hard to believe with how miserable they started the season. Unfortunately with the QB news the result may end up being the same anyway. Such is the life of a Vikings fan…

I don’t trust Kwesi to pick the right QB in the draft but you are forced to do it now. I think you let Jaren Hall finish out the season and see what he can do, absolutely no reason to waste a draft pick to bring a mediocre QB in here for the rest of the season. Then see if you can sign Cousins for 2 more years for around $30 million per year, and draft his successor in the first round.

The guy was having a career year and the team was turning around in a big way. Absolutely horrible timing and really sucks.

The Jets want to get rid of Dalvin Cook. Bring him back here, teach him to throw, and put him in as QB. Every set of downs there could be a QB sneak with a tremendously capable runner, and if he can’t play QB, at least the Vikings will have another tool in the running arsenal. If that doesn’t work, at least we will get a decent draft pick to start next season, and could have Cook back in the lineup for a reasonable price.

I’m not kidding as much as you think. chased

Cook is washed. And it’s not because he’s on the Jets

Well the cousins haters will get their wish we will see how good or bad (likely) this team is without him. Really sucks. He’s been durable and had a great season going.

Houston has Case Keenum as a mostly non activated 3rd stringer.
But they will want a 4th or even 3rd for him.
Kevin O’Connell was his QB coach in Washington.

There are some free agent vets looking for a team, Matt Ryan said he would leave the broadcast booth for the right opportunity.
Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, Nick Foles.

Mullins is still two weeks out at the earliest on his IR.
Does this trigger the team to go into selling mode?
I know Danielle Hunter would be gone if so.

Cousins wasn’t hit. He incurred a non-contact injury.

Barr’s tackle on Rodgers was legal at the time. The Vikings went on to win the division that season. I don’t think Green Bay is going to use this as a springboard to win the division. They’re a train wreck right now. The Lions are still the favorite here.

There’s not a great “sell” movement in the NFL like there is in the MLB. It is a hard capped league where picks are so valuable due to their salary structure and relatively short careers for many positions.

I’d expect the Vikings to stand firm with their roster and see what happens moving forward. If the young guy can play, they have an asset or future option. If he’s not a NFL starter, their draft position will improve a bit and they can move on to figuring out JJs situation as well as Kirks in the offseason

There is absolutely no reason to waste picks on any of the available or tradable qbs. All that will do is make your draft pick for Cousins’ successor worse. Whether they plan on resigning him or not. It makes no sense to do that. See what you have in Hall, and hope for the highest pick you can get. They aren’t going to win the division or a playoff game with someone like Andy Dalton or Trey Lance.

Just terrible timing with this one, The team was just turning the corner I still think we have a much better team than last year. But who knows maybe Tom Brady wants to come out of retirement to play with Jefferson and Addison? A more likely scenario is trading for someone like Keenum or just starting Hall. The scenario here I feel is different than 2017 because this team is way more reliant on Kirk than they were on Bradford in 2017. Hopefully, Kirk can get whatever Rodgers is on and come back on a 2-year deal next year.

Should’ve known I needed to put Keenum on the list of “won’t work” Qb’s in my previous post with a certain group of Vikings fans……

I 100% agree with Mahto, the draft picks are too valuable to wast ANY on bringing in some washed up veteran, and even if they did bring someone in, they’re not going to pick right up where Kirk left off.

See what Hall has to offer and if he shows promise, great. If not, we have the potential of a top 5 pick in this coming draft.

    Interesting stat.

Daunte Culpepper — Injured in Week 8 of his 6th Season as a Starter for Vikings.

Never played for the team again.

Kirk Cousins — Injured in Week 8 of his 6th Season as a Starter for Vikings.

A top 5 pick would be a stretch. I read that if the draft was tomorrow, the Vikings would likely have the 17th pick. There are 9 teams currently with worse records than the Vikings in the NFC alone. That, coupled with some still real winnable games on the slate makes me think talk of them picking real early in the draft is a bit wild. I think their defense is headed the right direction even if it’s not overly talented as a whole. That Offensive Line has definitely improved. The big question mark is going to be whether or not they can run the ball enough to keep defenses honest with someone new under center.

I’ll take my 9-8 prediction from September and dial it back to 8-9 or 7-10 now.

Trades are rare in the NFL. Hall will start, Mannion to back up and Mullens is off IR week 10.

Back home against a garbage Atlanta team. It might be ugly but they will win.

I would rather have any of those 3 options over what GB is trotting out.

If KOC can somehow manage to keep the O afloat and score enough points to limp this squad into the playoffs he deserves to be Coach of the Year. The running game production will need to improve significantly. A mobile QB may be a big part of the answer to that problem. It will be interesting to see the brain trust’s problem-solving skills.

There is not a single NFL team trying to tank … ask the Giant’s coach (recently fired).

I don’t understand why some of you guys want the team to keep winning? I’m not saying they should TRY to tank, but they can easily get a top ten pick if they stand pat and let Hall and Mullens finish the season. They aren’t going to make the playoffs even if they bring in a veteran qb, all that are available I might add, are below average.

Ya there’s really no one out there to sign as the starter if you ask me. Colt McCoy might be the most logical option, as he’s worked with KOC for a couple seasons in Washington.

I say let the kid play and use the remaining games as a tryout to gauge what we have here. He’s obviously young and mobile so there will be an added dimension to his game that Cousins doesn’t really have.

Mullens won’t be available until week 10 at the earliest, so they will need to sign someone as a backup option.

The opening spread favors Atlanta by 3 points on Sunday over the Vikings.

I think they need to, and will, bring in a veteran FA like McCoy, Wentz or in a wildest dream scenario Tom Brady. I don’t hate trading a 5th or later for a backup that KOC likes either, those picks are not that valuable imo. Mullins and Mannion should not see the field, they suck but might be able to sneak enough W’s to get us out of a good draft position, if they don’t add anyone let the rookie run the wheels off the season. The sad irony of Kirk’s injury is this team might have been the best OL and Defense combo he’s ever has in his time as a Viking.

So you would rather try and barely make the playoffs than set the team up with a top ten pick and actually have a shot at getting Cousins’ successor? I know denial is one of the first stages of grief but the reality is this season means absolutely nothing now. There isn’t an available QB out there that can probably even get this team to the playoffs. Even Brady wouldn’t be able to. He’s more of a statue than Kirk. Flush this year down the toilet and play for next year whether it’s with Kirk, or a first round pick.

As for the D and Oline with Kirk, I would say it’s possibly the best he has had in his career because Washington was even worse than his time here especially with the defense. I really believe this season was turning into a career defining season for Kirk.

Unfortunately I don’t think will get in the top ten even with Hall at the helm.

I agree, but you can’t just have one healthy QB on the active roster. Right now Hall is the only one. Mullens is on IR until week 10. They will need to bring in someone at least to back up Hall.

If Hall gets hurt next week then CJ Hamm is back there in the wild cat. That’s not viable.

Playoffs would have been a challenge for Kirk-if you found someone as good as K. they would still not be in sych with the offense, don’t do something desperate, develope someone, wait or draft someone, if you loose a lot of games your pick is higher. See the big picture & be patient.
