Good luck gentlemen, I will be spending my weekend hanging out in Wisconsin in a tree. I scouted a area along the river not far from the house and it looks promising. Really hoping to see the racks running around and being on there feet. I know I’ll be working the grunt and starting to rattle.

Gonna be in a tree in Hugo for the next 4 days. Might venture out to shoot a rooster or duck but got bone on the brain. Good luck

Lot of pheasants this year in the area. We seen a bunch at the ladies parents place in hugo a few days ago.

2 Days this camera and mock scrape were staged and now I got him both nights. But it’s been 10pm and 2am. Should be a cold weekend sitting in a tree

Stars are aligning. First real cold snap. Between the weather switching and the rut starting a lot of bucks are going to die this week

Healthy amount around for sure, I can never tell if they are Wild Wing birds or Wild though. Picked up last years deer from the taxidermist today.

Nice deer gander! I’m set up in a favorite rut spot. Hoping some bucks will cruise the ridge past me!

I’m out getting rocked to sleep in a tree. The wind does seem to maybe be settling a bit. Down from 25 to 24….. jester

Not sure if I’d shoot a doe tonight or just a mature buck. I guess we’ll find out if one walks by!

2 does came out of the bedding, but went the wrong way. Hoping for some last hour magic.

Eventful last hour had a nice 8 cruise by at 25 but too much brush and then shot a doe at 20, but it doesn’t look good. Half arrow penetration and it broke. Might have been too far forward. Now I sit ponder if I track tonight or in the morning.

On a night this cool, I would let her be for the night. Especially if I had any question of a bad shot

    Ill second that opinion.

Exciting night in stand for me. 2 nice 10’s cruised through at 35, wasn’t comfortable with the shot. Just a circus of bucks running back and forth. Still gonna duck hunt in the morning and regret it by 9AM

I would love to but coyotes make me nervous and this a draw hunt and there will be tons of people in the morning.

It was forward so she is either dead now or will live.

Saw a couple on the walk out and again on the walk back in. But for in the stand I was skunked. Clearly wrong area of the woods. Cooled off quickly though. I even had ice crystals in my bottle of tea. And some flurries in the air.

Good luck Justin. I’d give her 4 hours or so from when you shot and atleast go pickup the blood trail and see how it looks.

It’s a chilly morning. Good luck guys. I’m drinking a cup of coffee about to leave the house. Hoping across the river works out. With the wind, I have to canoe In.

My 13 year old son Bennett and I are out. Definitely a little chilly. Truck said 19°. It was a good morning to bring a thermos of hot chocolate with! Had 2 deer come through in the dark. Nothing since. If we shot half the squirrels within 75 years, I don’t think we could carry them all!

Im back in the same stand as last night. So far this morning all I’ve seen is a little 6 following a doe and fawn around.

Glad I went in after her. Coyotes got to the ribs within 2 hours of the shot but no meat loss. Thankfully my wife’s rescue pitbull is a hound. He is now 3 for 3. Shot was a touch high but right in the lungs. No blood for 75 yards the it was 50 yards of good blood right to her.

Damn those coyotes found her fast.
I had one come by at 40 yards this morning but he was gone in a few seconds

Slow morning for me so I moved to a different ridge leading out to picked corn. Hopefully there will be a little more action tonight.

Set up on edge of swamp. Bunch of rubs and scrapes behind me with nice tails coming out of swamp. Nice evening out.

Got down to Ne on Friday evening.
Hunted by a bedding area in the morning. All I had was a fork come by the first morning.

Hunted a stand we call 100 yard dash for the evening sit. Not sure why the deer will gravitate towards this bend in the woods but they do.

Had a doe and a dawn come out of the neighbors trees. Lots of deer bed in his trees but wander onto the land we can hunt.
It took a while for the doe and fawn to work their way to me.
When the doe finally got to 40 yards it crossed my mind to shoot her. So I grabbed my bow. While I grabbing my bow I notice a large body deer popped out of the neighbors trees. Grab the binoculars and see it’s a buck.
So I decided not to shoot the doe and use her as bait.
Well the wind swirled a little and she caught wind of something. I had sprayed a bunch of nose jammer on the tree above me.
She milled around and stopped her foot for 5 minutes. She eventually gave up on it and wandered to the NE. Wind was blowing from the NNE.
The buck took his sweet time working his way to the north. He eventually got to 100 yards east of me. The fawn this whole time hung out at 35 yards south of me.
I have the buck 3 grunts and he turns and walks to me. When he cleared the Kim I let the arrow fly at 30 yards.

The stand I was in is the one to the lower left.

I was just thinking of how nice it would have been hunting in the stand this morning. Cool, crisp, minimal wind. Even the sun came out too.

    Nice buck Michael
