On and off for about the last 20 mins of shooting light I had the 11 point and young 8 fighting in the bean field. If they weren’t pushing each other around they were harassing the does and fawns. Closest they got was about 100 yards. It was a entertaining sit! Planning to head back out in the morning.

Just seeing that gets the blood pumping. I woke up to a kid throwing up so he has to skip this mornings hunt. I’m doing a run to savage again and bow hunting. Hope to go back and get him this afternoon if he feels better
October 21, 2023 at 7:54 am #2231400Nothing so far this morning and the farmer just fired up the combine so we’ll see how this goes. I may not sit real late this morning and instead shift a couple stands now that the corn is coming out.

October 21, 2023 at 8:09 am #2231402I have been having a good old school standoff with this young lady for 5 minutes. She busted me shifting ground spots at 20 yards.

October 21, 2023 at 2:24 pm #2231455I found a line of trees this size beat to hell. So I climbed up a tree near by.

October 21, 2023 at 8:49 pm #2231542Now off to Wisconsin. This guy didn’t make it 14 yards and collapsed. He presented to good of a opportunity to not take him. The kid will go in for Brutus on that same land.

October 21, 2023 at 8:51 pm #2231544Nice buck. Tag filled!
Is there 6 or 8 points on it? Can’t see if there are any brow tines.
Jimmy JonesPosts: 2896October 21, 2023 at 9:03 pm #2231549He’s a 8. I’ll get a better picture. I wish my son wasn’t sick. This should have been his. But we will get him a bigger one.

October 22, 2023 at 8:21 am #2231629Nice Bearcat! One nice 10 crossed the neighbors old food plot across the valley, and I bumped a nice one on the walk in this morning. It’s a nice morning but less movement than expected.

October 23, 2023 at 6:48 am #2231737Thanks guys. I appreciate the compliments. Felt great to connect with that boy. But man it’s saddening as well, I love the time in the woods. I am going to start putting in some time across the river in WI.
October 23, 2023 at 7:41 am #2231755Congratulations on a good buck Bearcat!
Your old bow is in good hands. I’m now going to hand it off to the kid and I’ll buy a new one. Thank you for selling me it. It has served me well.

StanleyPosts: 1100October 23, 2023 at 10:23 am #2231826Nice buck BC. Glad it worked out for you. I’m sure the land owner will be happy as well to see you get a nice deer.

Ben K.Posts: 124deertrackerPosts: 9249October 26, 2023 at 10:31 am #2232518I was working on my rifle stand on Monday. My truck was parked next to the stand and running. At about 2pm I turned around and there was a very big buck watching me at like 80 yards. Watched me for a couple minutes and walked off. I’m very picky on what bucks I shoot and this would have been an opening morning shooter for sure. Out past the ears and very heavy. If only I would have gotten out bow hunting this season. I haven’t purchased a single license yet for any species.
DTCaptainMuskyPosts: 23319October 26, 2023 at 10:49 am #2232525Funny how that works. Few years back a buddy of mine and myself were drinking beers shooting clay pigeons and cranking some toons. After probably 50-75 shots a big old bruiser walks out of the woods about 75 yards away right where the clay pigeons were landing and stands there and looks at us. around 1:30 in the afternoon.

Will be heading to Ne at noon tomorrow to start the 2 week bow hunting trip.
2 Ne tags, 1 SD tag and my Mn tag still in my pocket.Sweet November is almost here.
Good luck everyone!October 26, 2023 at 6:41 pm #2232652I have a conference call at 9 tomorrow, and then my week of vacation starts. Pulled a couple cameras this afternoon, and bucks are on their feet big time.
Good luck to all the hunters! I think a lot of deer are going to die over the next week with this cold front.
