Weird rack. Long main beams and short tines a ways apart.

Saw a spike buck and 2 doe today. If one of the doe had stopped from their full sprint across the hayfield, I would have shot one with my bonus tag.

Also saw 8 turkeys (all jakes) and a stray cat.

High of 70 today down here in Ne. Average high is upper 50’s this time of year.

Had an interesting day today. It started with a spike and a fork coming by this morning. Decided to get down at 11 and get sone laundry done. Just has I hit the top climbing stick a coyote strolls into 20 yards. No matter what I am hunting if I see a coyote it turns into a coyote hunt. This coyote was lucky. My bow was already on the ground.

Walked into my stand at 3 in a T shirt. As my feet hit the platform of my stand I feel my phone vibrating. I look and see I have 4 texts from Trevor. My taxidermist who also hunts the land I hunt.
First text 2 does came running in from east.
2nd text was hot die coming with big 9 behind her. 3rd text said I just shot a toad. 4th text said big 9 heading your way.
I never did see the doe or the big 9.
I ended up seeing 17 does and fawns and a huge body half racked fork. I am curious how old he is.

Trev’s deer. I posted a trail cam pic of him earlier in the thread.

Low of 44 tonight. High of 68 tomorrow.
SE wind 5 to 10 mph.
Going to hit my pinch next to the bedding area. Hopefully the doe brings the big 9 by or he starts looking for a new doe. Going to sit all day again.
Nov 7th is my all time best day I have for shooting big deer.

Deer movement has really improved today. Been horrible the last few days. Makes for long all day sits. Shot a nice doe about 1230 today. Excited for this evening to see what happens.

Saturday evening, long day of sitting no signs of life. 5:55 PM told myself 10 more minutes. No sooner did that thought clear my mind I spot a buck coming in from about 130 yards. Nose down, heading north towards me. He starts hooking east at about 100yd out, my buddy who is normally about 350 yds east of me is not there, so nobody to catch him if I let him walk. Used a doe bleat call as a hail mary, and it worked! he veered back due north right at me, nose in the ground set on finding that doe. Dropped him in my good shooting lane at about 60 yards with 1 federal truball 1oz slug.

This is where it gets fun. I let out a big sigh of relief because he dropped immediately and it was starting to get dark. My eyes are not great so tracking in the dark is… not fun for me. Well he heard me and with what life he had he jumped back up and started running due south again. I cursed and sent 3 more slugs at him, missing 2 of those shots. He dropped again about 20 yards later. Upon closer inspection the first shot killed him, but he didn’t know it until he tried to run. 1 lung was completely gone, nothing left at all. Retrieved the slug from his hide opposite that lung, kinda cool. Also retrieved a plastic ball from the 2nd slug while cleaning him. No idea where that one hit, I counted exactly one entrance wound and no exit wound. one slug took some skin off his back, and based on my entrance wound for the first slug I am sighted in a bit high at 60 yards. Lost about 3 inches off one of the back straps from that shot, oh well he had MASSIVE back straps, biggest I’ve ever pulled off a deer that size. Loads of fat on him too, he’s been eating good.

All in all nice 7 pointer (missing one brow tine) in the freezer. I’m historically a meat hunter and this is the biggest buck I’ve dropped. Also the 750 yard drag back was, well, quite a drag. Woods haven’t turned to fall all the way yet. His body was bigger than both the 8 and 9 my other buddy’s brought in that day, not quite as big as the 10 that came in. Cheers!

KPE is one side missing from the rack of that buck or is it just buried in the grass based on the angle of the photo?

Harvested a nice 8 pointer on opening morning. Was a great morning to be out in the woods as all the bucks had females on their mind, and were around my area chasing. This one came in after seeing several and it’s the one I chose to bring home.

This one came from my pistol kill. It must have been just under the hide on the far side.

One of the biggest on my trail cameras this year BC. And from what I can tell, I might not see another for the rest of the season.

Yesterday was a complete bust. Both my Father and I sat for 11 hours and neither one of us saw a deer. I’m back in there today. Kinda warm again, and some rain over night.

After sitting 4 full days in my stand, I switched it up this morning and sat in a different one.

Was a perfect windy day to go stalk the deer.

Had a buck grunting behind me in the marsh this morning for 1/2 hour but he never came out. I am assuming he bedded down. Trying a new spot for the last night of my mini 2 day vacation.

Well scouted in and found alot of sign, snuck as close to bedding as I could and there is a big fresh scrape at 15 yards. Fingers crossed they move on daylight.

It was just buried in the pic, hard to tell in pictures but the ground there has at least 10″ of leaves/ overgrowth/ debris. I realized that after I took my “nice” pic and started chopping him up LOL. Oh well better pics next time!

No deer seen on the hunt tonight, back work tomorrow and coaching hockey is going to put a dent in tree time.
