I’ve been fighting a nasty cold all week myself. It’s made me mis a few sits this week, but for the most part it’s been manageable with lots of cough drops and kleenex.

It’s been a great morning with 7 bucks going by all the size of the one in the pic or smaller accept one nice 10 I didn’t recognize from trail pics. He ended up taking a trail that only got him to about 60 yards

I am going to try and sneak out after work for a couple hours. The stand where I killed my doe last Friday has a cam by it has had day light photos of bucks everyday, but only one was a shooter. I don’t know if I messed up the area last weekend as I have not had one doe on cam since or if they trying to hide from the boys.

Had a handful of does come through out of range and passed on a decent 6 pointer that gave me a shot. Fairly good sit this AM.

Had a buck grunting in some tamarack by me, this was after 10. I have it a rattle and grunt back, it just ran away. Never got a good look at it, I’m telling myself it was a small one.

I only saw one deer today, 12 hours in my stand. It was a fork buck at 80 yards that I let walk. I did see about 25 pheasants, and a pair of raccoons. Stunning fall day to sit in the stand though.

My buddy could have had a shot at this one last night, but his young kids were arguing in the stand and he couldn’t get a shot. doah

Sat all day yesterday, didn’t see a thing.

Hunted a ridge top with scrapes nearby until 2, then moved close to a corn field.

There’s a few deer in the area, but not like hunting in Wisconsin lol

Last night had a 6 at 80 yards but could not get him to come any closer (archery in WI). Good practice setting up in a saddle with sticks. Pretty clunky. Going to take me a long time to set up efficiently.

Switched spots to fresh ground scrapes I found. There is 3 within 20 yards. Maybe something will pop out along this trail. It’s been a quiet weekend

11 more hours in my stand today, saw 2 doe and a spike buck. I also saw a nice 8 paint buck with a drop tine following a doe this morning. Unfortunately, when it turned to face me, I could see that half of one side had completely broke off, so I let it go. That was a major buzz kill, I was ready to shoot that buck until I saw that. I’ve never seen a buck with a drop tine before.

frown frown Let little guy walk Saturday at noon. Snapped picture and sent to both boys who went back to the house at 9am. Went out to folks farm tonight and had a nice buck come with 5 minutes of shooting time left acting like he was about to tear the place up tonight. Had to holler to stop him. Rushed the shot. Looked for blood for 1/2 hour in the dark. Found nothing. I heard crashing in the brush about 100 yards away, so I backed out. Will resume looking in the morning. Won’t get much sleep tonight…. frown

I have been trying to post all week but they won’t go through.
It’s been a grind of a week. Lots of does, fawns and little 1.5 year old bucks.
Had a really good buck come by me trailing a doe. Unfortunately she didn’t read the script. She brought him by on the trail at 70 yards instead of the one at 30 yards.
Decided go hunt a piece of public this morning. Broke a climbing stick while trying to get into a tree so I said screw it and sat on the ground. Well I had a decent buck come in behind me and caught me drawing at 20 yards.
Another week to go. It’s suppose to be in the upper 60’s for high the next few days. Thursday it cools down again.
Saturday is opening rifle season here. If I don’t have my 2nd buck down by then I will hunt opening day with my bow. The landowner where I hunt doesn’t allow any rifle hunting.
    Good luck everyone.

I seen a deer cruising by at 125 yards 4 days ago. Hit the horns together and here he comes. I grab my bow and get ready. When I realized it was this little guy I hung up the bow and grabbed the phone. Here he is at 20 yards.

Quite warm in the stand this morning. Only dropped to 50 degrees last night. And more wind.

42 degrees and no wind in SE Nebraska.

Passed on this buck during the Halloween snow event @5yds with the crossbow along with 3 others if similar size and age waiting for a bigger one.

Watched him make a rub at 30yds Saturday mid morning with shotgun in hand, came into 5 yds of me and couldn’t pass the opportunity. Sawed down the small tree he rubbed the bark off of to keep with the euro mount.

It’s a windy one this morning. The deer are moving around though, but awful nervous. They’ve been on the rise above me and in the valley below me. I’ll hang around until 10, then get out of the woods before the 60 degree craps sets in. Beautiful sunrise today.

Day 3: snowing pretty good this morning in NW MN. We still have decent snow on the ground but lost a lot yesterday with the rain. Had a decent 8 chasing does around at last light last night. A new buck showed up on camera as well last night.

Could only hunt Saturday am. Saw 1 deer about 100 yards away. Grunted twice and ran right to me. Decent 8 pointer for only morning I could go.

Nice one FBRM! We had a pretty full weekend on stand, and didn’t see a single deer between the 3 of us. Plenty of shooting around, but not many hunting on the public land nearby except one spot had 9 trucks, every other parking spot was 1 or none. Heading down to bluff country this weekend!
