Well this song sure has changed.

Rossi and Faber were too good… ruined Billy G’s 5-year plan for world domination

    care to elaborate?

So you knew Faber was going to turn into a future $8+ aav player this year? That’s a huge chunk of change I wasn’t thinking about spending internally vs Free Agency before this season started…

Now a trade rumor I can actually see not being total BS is that Fleury is reported to be attracting interest from basically everybody and their dog who has playoff ambitions and weak goaltending. With MAF being a UFA and even looking at retirement, I’d think there might be some attraction in him waving his no move clause to make one more run at the cup.

Hockey Wilderness laid out a list of possible teams who could or should be goaltender-shopping for the playoffs. Hurricanes, Pens, Kings, Leafs, Oilers, Avalanche.

He’s such a great team presence, I’d hate to see him go, but also I’m not sure what the chances are even if he stayed that he’d be resigning with the Wild for next season. Not sure what the Wild could reasonably get in return, but could it be surprisingly high if things in some playoff-desperate market like Edmonton or Toronto were to experience a slump in their already shaky goaltending situation toward the deadline?

The only place Flower is allowed to be traded is LA, where he can tandem with Cam Talbot jester

I can’t see how Flower wouldn’t want one last shot at a cup, he’s currently tied with Grant Fuhr for 3rd all time in playoff wins, so 1 more to move solely into 3rd…

He would likely be a backup, so odds would be tough to hit trade conditions unless the starter gets hurt or fails miserably and Flower comes in and they go on a run… My guess on trade return is probably a 4th round pick with the possibility to move up to a 3rd or 2nd based on playoff win conditions (probably 4 and 8 wins) Kinda depends on what other goalies are available as they are in high demand this season, the contenders could get desperate and jack up the return..

Colorado or Carolina makes the most sense imo…

The Oilers and Leafs should be the most desperate

Starting tonight the Wild have 20 games left until the March 8th trade deadline.

5 of those 20 are against Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim, St Louis and Buffalo, so winnable… the other 15 are mostly playoff teams or still battling for a Wildcard spot.

Here’s who we could trade and would likely get offers for:
    Fleury
    Duhaime
    Maroon
    Bogosain
    Dewar (RFA)

Flower will likely get the best return, it never hurts to give Judd more bullets to shoot with, but don’t expect any good picks, lots of 5th & 6th rounders, Maybe GMBG can get the Tampa GM drunk and get him to offer up a Jeannot package for Duhaime..:)
…I suspect the team wants to keep Dewar…

The Wild currently have 1st, 2nd, 4th, 2x5th, 6th round picks in the 2024 Draft. They have zero capspace so there will be no brokering deals this year.

If by chance their tiny, almost microscopic, captain (#46) gets season ending surgery, then they would have plenty of cap space in the LTIR pool. I’m not sure if they can dip into that to retain money in exchange for picks or not.

Wasn’t that long ago you were shopping/listing 1C free agents in 2025 because the Wild were going to have more money than every team in the league.

(insert Faber turned into a young star before our eyes here) (insert Rossi would only get a cheap bridge deal here)

So 1 Dman takes out the chance of a 1C.
    That don’t sound promising.
Sounds like they will be built the exact same way as before then.

yeah a 2 season ELC Defensive player likely getting $8+ doesn’t happen very often…also didn’t expect Hartman and Foligno extensions totaling $8 million, I figured they would get moved for younger players…

So BG basically did what every GM the Wild have done but strung it out with buyouts. Swell.
At least we have something to look forward to with the greatest prospect pool of all time. whistling

Man… hip surgery followed by back surgery 4 weeks later. Feel bad for him, that’s crappy.

Please don’t trade for that LTIR pool player… just let this season play out as-is…

    Tanev
    Walker
    Hannifin
    Dumba (lol)
    Lybushkin
    Seeler (LOL)

They’re picking someone up, and if they do it soon, they could always flip that player again before the deadline.

Poor Spurgeon. Even when he was on the ice, something looked off.

The last half of this season we might get a real good glimpse into both the owner and GM’s role in this franchise. And the future grit to do what’s needed to build a cup contending team.

it would sure be nice to see Rossi break out of his mini slump (0 points and -6 in his last 5 games) and have a multi-point game tonight, the kid has had chances but just can’t bury it lately…

The next 10 games are when Rossi and Faber need to push through the “rookie wall”

    Thatta boy Marco!

Gus deserved better. He has made a lot of great saves but our d zone and PK has sucked.
