Quick, get that phrase trademarked before Dan “The Common Man” Cole steals it.

Honestly, just getting into the Top 7 of this draft will fill a HUGE organizational need.
Celebrini – Top Prospect – Center
Eiserman – Greatest goal scorer in USNTDP History, a bigger Cole Caufied
Demidov – Young Kaprizov clone in the KHL (insert KHL worry here)
    Lindstrom – HUGE 6’4″ Center
    Dickenson – 6’3″ Offensive Defenseman
Catton – 5’11” Top Line Center
Silayev – 6’7″ Russian Physical Defenseman who can skate and handle the puck and has a bomb for a shot (Chara like)

So we’d either get elite offensive scoring help or skill with size on our defense help in this draft…both huge needs for the Wild…the funny thing is I think all of these players are left handed which is what 95% of our prospects are besides Stramel…

Left handed shots are better hockey players.

Wild fell to 6th worse in the league last night, only 3 points ahead of Columbus at 5th worse, although they have 1-2 games in hand on most teams…

only took 1 sim today! )

if this consistent losing keeps happening, GMBG needs to make a move now vs waiting until the trade deadline as a last ditch effort to try and shake the players out of their funk…Now we know his options are very limited, but why not try to move somebody like Duhaime right now vs at the deadline? His salary isn’t enough where other teams need to wait until the deadline to afford it even with most playoff teams having a tight salary cap (Wild could possibly even retain a small % to make it work if needed)
Moving Duhaime isn’t a ground shaking trade, but it’s one of only a few options GMBG has available to do, we have Iowa guys who could replace him vs moving Maroon or Bogo right now who have more cemented spots in the lineup right vs at the deadline…

Trading anyone at this point really does nothing to bolster the team in anyway. We have seen nothing from the Iowa guys to give them more time with the big club. The return BG would get for Duhaime would be next to nothing.

Unless we see a big turnaround from the guys in the next couple games, I don’t see a reason to try and stay competitive this season. We might as well cut our losses and sell at the deadline and try and move up the lottery.

Kaprizov’s success over the last couple years has really made rebuilding hard. Trying to build a team with 70 million in cap isn’t easy.

Not to mention trying to win with about $50M out of the lineup right now.

yeah, I said it’s not going to be much, but its something before they leave for nothing… I think a playoff team would love to have Duhaime on their 4th line, I think he could get a 4rd-5th round pick from a team that has multiples to burn and perhaps an intention of re-signing him afterwards…Maroon and Bogo will fetch the 5th-7th rounders, perhaps maybe Maroon could get a 4th in a bidding war from teams really wanting/needing his experience and cup cred… we’ve seen overpays before for Vets with cup cred…who knows…

just note, GMBG will ship off whomever he can if there’s no chance of re-signing them next year, Flower included if he wants 1 last cup shot…I think making a trade now at least gives him the excuse that he tried to do what he could to get some kind of spark…

I saw a twitter mention that after Kirill won it 3 years ago and Boldy was likely to win it had he stayed healthy, now the Wild will likely have serious Calder trophy contender this and the next few seasons with Rossi, Faber, Wallstedt and Yurov, I’m losing faith that Ohgren and Khusnutdinov will be nothing more than bottom 6 role players…That’s a solid Calder contender 5 of a 6 year span, so the rebuild appears pretty good considering we never picked higher than Rossi at #9 (yes we traded for Faber)

No need to post about them just being prospects and it means nothing until they play in the NHL, of course…

Any attempt to get back on the horse and push to try to drag @ss into the playoffs would be negligently stupid at this point and any GM that tries it with a team in the Wild’s current position should be fired.

As a GM, I don’t care how much of a “competitor” you think you are and how many “back in my playing days we fought to the bitter end” cliches you use. It’s all a load of crap. A team that has the issues the Wild have at a point even before the all-star break is doing absolutely nothing but robbing the team’s future by trying to make some kind of push. Even with all key players back on the ice at 100%, assuming the Wild could even get back in the playoff hunt (big assumption) at best, they would be first-round cannon fodder. Again.

Let’s look at the bright side of being out of contention. Beyond the obvious draft situation, look who’s coming to town for the second to last home game of the year. Well shut my mouth, it’s none other than the Winnipeg Jets. Hey Jets, let’s play a little word game. Complete the following sentence:

    Paybacks are a ______________.

But he already did that when he fired Dean. The injuries are what is the problem now. I just saw last night that NJ is going through the same thing too. Pretty unreal with that many injuries to high paid/key players. There is really nothing that could spark this team in a trade. All that we can hope is players come back soon and they play well, but we all know that when they come back they rarely produce at a high level right away.

Rossi and Faber look pretty damn good this year huh?

Ive been saying it pretty much the entire year that those two have been their best/most consistent players.

guys, i’m talking about trading guys we would just unload at the trade deadline anyways…typically contenders need to wait to reduce the salary cap hits they are absorbing, but the only guys we can move are already super cheap…so why not unload them now is my point…Maroon and Bogo will be desired by the contenders…

We know what you are saying Joe, it just doesnt seem like doing so is going to make an ounce of difference. We will get guys back and will start winning games again. Will likely miss the playoffs though considering where they are now.

    Couldn’t agree more!

Trying to mortgage anymore is dumb. Take the lumps this season and try to build the future vs just trying to get to the playoffs. This team ain’t a cup contender healthy. Let alone with the horrible start, the injuries and the cap he’ll.

Faber needs the C on his sweater sooner rather than later or it’s a travesty of justice!

Rossi is so much better, it’s great to see.

Get Flower his win at some point and enjoy watching history.

Figure out ways to somehow get some of the younger guys some nhl ice time.

Build for 3-5 years down the road.

    Get a 1st line center.

A full salary on the ice will be so nice at some point.

Maybe there was an arm tug at the beginning of Ek skating away but otherwise it was a great recovery by the Flyers player in OT… Wild blew it in the 3rd..

I agree, I did not think that was a penalty either.

When Zuccarello got that tripping penalty, it should have been 3 on 2. Not 4 on 3. jester
