Apparently Danila Yurov has NOT signed a KHL extension yet and has a deadline of midnight tonight to do so…

I’d love to know what is the attraction for any of these drafted Russians to stay in Russia? They could be a conscript private in the Russian army tomorrow and yet they’re not just signing khl deals but contemplating extensions?

Man I’ll bet it’s fun flying around Russia these days to get to games. Russian airlines are sourcing Chinese and North Korean knockoff parts to keep planes flying because they can’t get OEM parts. Yeah.

gotta think its just the desire to stay home at that young age and earn more $ than what their NHL ELC would pay them…

Some 20 year old have no problem leaving their home/country, others not so much…

Because you are treated like a god if you are a star in the KHL.

Russians don’t do AHL so maybe he’s waiting for Billy G to promise him an NHL roster spot. Yurov re-signing in the KHL makes a lot more sense to me now when he’s playing 17 minutes a night than last year when he was playing 2 minutes a night.

So Yurov officially didn’t sign today and apparently now he can’t sign until the season is over, when the Wild could also sign him.

if Jojo doesn’t turn his game around the rest of this season, the buyout option would free up a top 6 spot at a cheaper overall caphit if Yurov took it on his ELC… If he would be willing to sign with the Wild in April, it will most likely take burning the 1st year of his ELC.

Be nice if the Wild could bury a couple of these breakaways

What a bonehead penalty by Merrill, he’s gotta know he’s done when Spurg or Brodin get back…

Nice to see Jojo get going..

Imagine the game Rossi would have had he scored on his 2 breakaways…

I sure hope the Jets defense plays as soft & lazy on our guys the next 2 games as they did on Bedard last night…

Great to see the Wild stay calm and keep playing their own game when Detroit came back twice. Would have been nice to see Rossi score on those breakaways but just getting Jojo going again was awesome.

I just happened to tune in to the original broadcast of that and my first thought was this was some kind of inside joke that accidentally got broadcast.

    I think I’m still traumatized.

The Spittin Chicklets boys just put out another podcast with Wayne Gretzky as their guest. Its an awesome interview like any with Wayne are, but he told a couple of stories I never heard before.

    1) In the 2nd period intermission of game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals, he warned both McSorely and Robitalle that Montreal was probably going to check one of their sticks for an illegal curve in the 3rd, they both told him they would handle it, but did nothing…McSorely’s penalty lead to the last minute goal against and eventual loss…

    2) He snuck the Russian 5 along with coach Victor Tikanov and 2 KGB agents to his parents house for a BBQ during the Canada Cup series… he even snuck them beers in his basement!

Its a great listen if you’re a hockey fan.

The illegal curve strategy is something I grew up with. As far as I can tell, it ended with composite sticks. I miss the old days and the smell of burnt wood and fiberglass in the warming house.

watching Charlie Stramel and Wisconsin vs Air Force tonight, he’s playing 3rd line wing, no special teams… All he’s done with the puck is dump and chase… While he’s huge and physical, Other Badger players like Chaz Lucius are way more visible on the ice…

    Sure hope he’s a late bloomer…

I’ve been watching that too. I also noticed his dump and chase play. Definitely does not look like pro material right now.

He should have just scored. Glorious chance

What a find in the 6th round of the 2022 draft for Judd! He’ll be in Iowa next season…

Watching him play, you can see why scouts would perhaps over value him, that size and skating combo is a bit mesmerizing…
