Maybe 1 of the 3 goals Gus should have had, 2 deflected off of bodies… Wild D (specifically Middleton) just getting beaten to the scoring areas resulting in goals…

Wild offense is generating chances (specifically the Rossi line) just cant score on Quick…

3-2, can they keep the momentum going or is a cheap penalty and powerplay goal given up in our future?

How has no one corrected Lapanta and Walz how to pronounce Lafreniere?!?! Kid was a 1st overall pick and been in the league 3 years wtf

W here would be a big jumpstart to the season. Gus owes them all a steak dinner if they can pull it off

That hit on Kaprizov is going to get us into trouble. We’re gonna take a stupid penalty..

Hartman would have chopped his head off if he were out there

That power play with 5 forwards was sure fun to watch. Total chaos but better than whatever tf we used to do. Could certainly tell no one wanted to stay on the blue line.

Rossi is buzzing. The entire Rossi line really.

Vibes are trending up. Win or lose that was best 60 minutes of the year for everyone but the goalie

Faber Rossi and Boldy in OT was wild. Would not have thought a year ago we’d be comfortable with those three out there this early in the 2023-24 season already. The young guys are looking real.

OMG Flower’s last save… That’s about the perfect game to start a positive trend, we’ll see if they can build from it…

Kirill had 7 shots on goal, that’s typically an indicator he’s about to burst offensively… let’s hope

He was absolutely robbed by Quick twice tonight…

One thing I noticed last night was the building chemistry between Kaprizov and Rossi, there were several plays where they passed to empty space the other skated into, so they are anticipating each other, fun to watch, hope Deano sticks with it…

Jesper Wallstedt was the AHL player of the week… let him keep marinating in the minors…

I don’t get all of the online chatter calling Gustafson a bust and that he’s been playing absolutely terrible…2 of the 3 Ranger goals were deflections and the last goal was an absolute top corner snipe from the hash mark..no goalie in the world is going to stop that shot…

GusBus will be just fine once this team starts playing some friggin defense in front of him…

Didnt he have a 47 save shutout in the first game of the year? He won them that game for sure. He had some clunkers, but its hardly all his fault our D has been terrible.

yeah, after that game he’s given up alot of goals, but how many of those were deflections and PP goals? Then you factor in the poor defense and you get the crappy GAA he has…he’ll be fine..

NHL goalies are allowed to make hard saves and Gus hasn’t made many this season. You let in 3 of 4 shots to start a game then they’re all your fault. I don’t care if all 4 shots are 2 on 0 against Gretzky and Ovi you can’t let 3 of the first 4 in.

Fans love to ride the emotional rollercoaster, but calling him a bust over 7 games is just dumb. I’m also not sure how anyone can defend those 7 games, he’s been awful regardless of what’s happening in front of him. Lots of season left to find his game, roll with Flower for now and be patient.

Of the 52 goalies who’ve played 4 or more games, Gus is #52 (dead last) in goals saved above expected. That’s a stat that takes defense into account. Also dead last in GAA and 46th in Sv%. The D in front of him has been terrible but he’s fit in great with them by also being terrible.

    geeez…that’s rough…

He did stop 41/41 in the opener and then couldn’t maintain perfection as the team remained crap defensively, I agree there were 1 or 2 goals in each of his next 5 games he needs to stop, but the team was plagued with a ton of PP goals given up and the team defense actually got worse.

Gus took the brunt of that shoddy team play and his numbers paid for it, he’ll be just fine if/when the team improves its defensive play…The last 2 periods of the Rangers game was a step in the right direction as Flower only had a handful of saves to make…

It helps when your team puts up 10 every night. GLad to see he is back on track but this isnt sustainable I dont think. We will see.

Thats like a complete reversal of his same stats from last year. Rough start for sure.

I’m convinced he’ll sign here if he makes it to Free Agency (which he should) it lines up with Johanson’s deal ending opening a spot in the top 6…yes, I know Marat, Yurov and Ohgren will all need spots eventually too…

Just looking at the Roster/Cap roadmap, you can kind of see what GMBG’s vision might be, next year he hopes 1-3 Iowa defenseman make the jump replacing Addison, Goligoski and perhaps Merrill with ELC players, then have Yurov/Ohgren/Marat playing in Iowa next year (Marat could make the roster depending on what is done with Dewar) then battling for bottom 6 roles for the Wild 2 years from now, then battling for top6 spots in 3 years when Zuccy is gone and Hartman the following year…

I really hope they can lock Dewar into a Freddy like $2aav extension, I would even go 8 years with him, he’s such an under the radar player for the Wild…Marat is a mirror like replacement (with more offense) if they don’t though…

Wallstedt AHL player of the week. Looks like he’s had a couple rough games but other than that he’s been pretty darn good. Can’t imagine there’s a ton of good D being played right now in Iowa either…..

Their early games were the majority of their D core’s professional debuts…it took them a month to start to get comfortable…They are playing much better now…
