Other NHL news you guys see that guy from Ottawa get suspended for 41 games for sports gambling when he wasnt even gambling on NHL? Thats the only thing mentioned in the CBA about being banned. I find it ironic that their helmet sponsor of Ottawa is a sports betting site LOL

So we just play guys who are hurt and ineffective for 2 weeks? Awesome idea… and if you don’t think GM’s manipulate/take advantage of Injuries & LTIR rules to their team’s benefit (especially when they are as cap strapped as the Wild) your last name must be Daly…

I don’t think they need to take a look at a call up like JJ Kahira. Pretty sure they know what he is. He has played over 300 NHL games.

No I don’t think they would sit a guy they just signed to a long term contract because he has not played great in his first six games of the season. Especially a Dean favorite like Freddy

My tinfoil thought is he was hurt in game 2 of the season has been trying to fight through it. It may be why he hasn’t look great maybe not. They now have a better understanding of Spurgs timeline so they can put him on IR, make a call up and let Freddie’s injury heal fully during this road trip so it doesn’t linger any longer.

yeah, I agree is unlikely, but all the timing is awfully suspect imo…I personally don’t think they would knowingly play a hurt player for 4 games and keep him at the same minutes per game, if he’s indeed hurt, that’s on Freddy and the Training staff then…or Maybe Deano thinks he’s invincible and nobody can hurt his Freddy…Long term contract doesn’t mean much at a $2 caphit, but I agree being Deano’s golden boy does… but a crappy start of the season (imo he’s looked completely lost on the ice and its seems like its mental more than physical) can easily warrant a quick reboot of your head & game, benchings have been happening all over the league in the first few weeks, even on teams not coached by Torts…

This is just a really weird conspiracy theory but just to make sure I’m following… you’re insinuating they told Freddy to stay home for the 3 game road trip because he’s been playing poorly? And they’re disguising it as an injury because the coach likes him?

It’s hockey. They have multiple guys playing a good chunk of the season hurt or banged up every year. Happens on every team at every level.

Never mind. I am going with Joes take.
    It’s a lot more fun.
Maybe if Kahira plays well they will keep him up and look to ship Freddie out at the deadline. rotflol

The lesson here is they should have hired Babcock in Ottawa. He would have stopped the gambling when he was scrolling through Pinto’s phone.

derp, I thought it was just a quick 2 game back to back east coast trip with Philly and Caps, then the Devils game was at home…so yeah benching 3 games makes zero sense…I’ve got too much Mite Hockey stuff going on right now )

They really had no choice but to play Freddie with a nagging injury.
Until they put Spurgeon on LTIR they had no capsule to bring anyone up.
Now with Spurgeon on ltir they have money to spend on call ups.

You know I enjoyed the days where I could push previous channel and watch the other game I wanted but I guess that’s too much to ask.

The defensive issues that plagued this team to start last year are occurring again. They’ve given up far too many goals and quite often they get heavily out shot too.

They’ve given up at least 5 goals in 5 of the 7 games so far and the opener against Florida was lopsided except for the magnificent play of Gus.

Not having Spurgeon is obviously an issue but they need to focus more on better defensively play overall as a 5 man unit. It’s pretty hard to win games when you’re giving up 6 goals every night.

They just can’t stop getting scored on right now. Team D is down bad but the goalies are far from innocent.

yeah, it’s a culmination of multiple issues right now

    * Our Star Players aren’t our best players right now (I’d argue Rossi has been our best player all season)
    * EVERYBODY is passing up good shots to try and make a cute pass
    * Defensive mindset has gone out the door (Kirill turnover at the blueline last night is a perfect example, Yes it was a bad turnover, but why did BOTH Wild defenseman leave the blueline going towards the net? leading to a breakaway the other way)
    * Our Defense pairings are all out of whack, Faber and Brodin are trying to overcompensate leading to uncharacteristic mistakes…Merrill shouldn’t be an NHLer anymore….
    * Goalies are letting in early soft goals deflating team confidence

The good thing is that we’ve seen spurts of the Wild playing dominating hockey, so they have it in them, Deano just needs to figure out how to make them play that way all the time…

I like the aggressiveness of our D when we are full strength with all our guys healthy and not being so bad defensively, but NOW is not the time for it.

Would be a miracle since he didnt play, but everyone was scoring for the BADgers.
