Lol, NHL will fine Bedard for not wearing a helmet in warmups…

I am always surprised it’s not mandatory whenever I go to a game and watch warmups. Mainly because of the ricochet factor.

Some teams mandated it, and the league recently mandated it for all players who entered the league after the 2019-2020 season…so it will eventually phase out…I’m surprised it was never some sort of player injury insurance requirement…

The Wild season starts in 2 days.

Do you guys feel the Wild will be better than last year? If so, how?

If they stay completely healthy yes. Big If.
Otherwise I don’t see them better or worse than last year.

I see them about the same as last year hopefully with less injuries. Not a good start with Spurgeon already out, but hopefully the guys like Boldy, KK, Ek, Foligno and Hartman dont get hurt because then this team is really going to struggle.

They can be as good or better. I think the key is Gus, if he’s as good as last year they’ll be right there again. If they get that and big contributions from the young guys then they’ll be even better.

Health is big too and they’ve been one of the healthier teams the last couple years so potential for regression there for sure.

Barry Melrose is stepping down from his duties at ESPN. Recently said he is battling Parkinson’s.

Some pretty cool old pics and videos of him being posted by NHLers and and reporters on Twitter right now. Sad news. Guy was hockey in its hay day on ESPN.

That’s a brutal disease but treatments are improving so I hope for the best for Barry Melrose and his family. It was painfully obvious he was battling something these last 2 years on ESPN but cool he got to cover the NHL again before retirement. Personally never cared for him as a broadcaster but no question he was the face of hockey on ESPN for a generation and will be a legend of the game.

Yeah its definitely painful to watch someone go through that. Hoping for the best for him. Like T said, he wasnt my favorite, but if it wasnt for him they wouldnt have even talked about hockey on the 4 letter network.

Their marketing is great. They are a joy to work with as well. Best in the business IMO.

Agree best one yet. Beginning is above average and then when Middelton pops on with tarp off and the heart rate monitor I lost it. rotflol

Actually it’s 41 goals ….and then TNT had the gall to put up a Bedard 1 / Gretzky 894 chart…

Chicago is definately giving him EVERY opportunity to succeed, he’s leading the Hawks in icetime by a ton and plays in all situations…He also is using his main weapon by having 11 shots on goal in 2 games… Boston was very physical with him last night (of course Marchand tried to throw him off his game with his antics) we’ll see how the physicality plays out the next few weeks…

How can Edmonton be a favorite to come out of the west with there goaltending issues? I know its one game but to give up 8 in Vancouver.

He’s leading their forwards in TOI and also pretty much every other category. Yeah how dare Chicago play him over all their other stud centers… Notable players like Jason Dickinson, Cole Guttman, Lukas Reichel, and wild legend Ryan Donato.

So the logic is he’ll put up numbers only because all their forwards are bad so he gets the best opportunity?? Weird how that narrative is completely different when it comes to Kaprizov.

Because they have 2 top 5 players and their D and depth scoring are getting a lot better.

Oh it also helps the last 2 goalies to win the cup weren’t much better.

I agree with you that I don’t think they should be cup favorites, just pointing out why everyone is picking them. If they win the cup it will be because the refs call a million penalties in the playoffs. Something they’ve been doing more of the last 2 playoffs and the exact reason why Edmonton has been winning in the playoffs the last 2 years.

good lord what a rant, triggered much?…. i’m just saying you’d typically see any rookie (let alone a recently turned 18 year old) slowly brought upto speed starting the league, but Chicago is doing the absolute opposite…I’ve been more impressed with 19 year old Kevin Korchinski’s play….

It was 4 sentences, Joe – no one is triggered or ranting. Just trying to track the movement on the goalposts here.

Thought that was hilarious, they’re just trolling the Bedard hype machine. If anything they missed a massive opportunity with the graphic to be…

To put my Bedard thinking to rest, I think he’ll get 30 goals and 65 points for the season (60% of those points come on the PP) based on how much Chicago has shown they will use him and how many shot attempts he’ll likely take (I think that’s a little higher than whatever my initial projection was when I was thinking they’d bring him along slower?) only 2 games worth so take that into account, maybe they/he changes things up…

Those stats should make him Chicago’s pick for the allstar game. Those are my goal posts…

Started: career fringe all-star, top line player

Ended: likely all-star as 18 year old, when most kids his age are in their senior year of high school

That’s some good movement, tough to track. Would make for a dam good starting pitcher

go do your thread investigation, I said since day 1 he would be Chicago’s allstar rep because they won’t have any other choice for many years, so he would be it by default…but say whatever to fit your narrative…lot of that going around in the world nowadays…
