I’m still in disbelief Buium is actually available. 100% take him is he’s there
Still loving the Mcgroarty trade idea too
Buium and Faber for the next decade… unreal we got him, I never thought he’d get past the top 5…
Reaction to Buium pick from Bryon Bader

If your an older NHL hockey fan and can remember how Scott Niedermier would just make playing defense look so easy and could pretty much do whatever he wanted on the ice because he could “Out-skate”and “out-think” everyone else, thats what Zeev Buium does…
He’ll play 1 more season at Denver, probably captain team USA at the World Juniors and focus on getting stronger and heavier and then pencil him in the Wild top 4 for the next 10+ years…

I guess I qualify as an older NHL fan …
Buium highlights from last season, remember he started the season as an 17 year old playing for Denver (who never plays young kids, let alone let them basically run the team as a 1st pair defenseman and run the power play)
The kid just clowned the NCAA as a freshman…
IF the Wild can snag a playoff spot next season, getting Yurov and Buium to sign in early April and be playoff eligible could be a huge boost!
Buium is a good pick. I remember watching him late last season against St Cloud and Omaha in the NCHC tourney at the X and then again a couple weeks later taking down both Bostons to win the natty at the X. He’s solid no doubt.
Would love to know why he fell so far
Maybe because at his size he’ll never survive the playoffs ??
Now this better be the last time I’m excited during the draft for about 20 years. Hopefully Judd’s work is done here. After tomorrow they can trade him for a #1C
Woke up this morning and had to check my phone to make sure Buium to the Wild really happened…
I’ve never been more confident in a Wild draft pick who will turn into a star, kudos to GMBG not f’ing around and pouncing (spending a 2025 3rd round pick) to make sure we got our guy…
His ELC will end when Spurgeon comes off the books, so that’s nice from a future cap management perspective…
Looks like the Wild will get a good player with pick #45 too due to some big reaches the back half of the 1st round…
My last Buium post, couple of nuggets I found on him that were interesting…
1) He was the second youngest player in NCAA Hockey last season only behind Celibrini…
2) He did the most pull ups out of ALL prospects at the Draft combine testing (typically one of the harder combine tests, Casey Middlestadt famously did 0 his draft year)
3) in the last year and a half he won the World Under 18 Championship , World Under 20 Championship, NCHC Championship, NCAA Championship
4) He officially measured at 6’0 186 pounds at the draft combine
Wild take Ryder Ritchie in the 2nd round, he was the WHL Rookie of the Year, most scouts had him as a 1st rounder…

It really sounds like GMBG is interested in McGroarty (he’s usually pretty coy about his interest in players)
I just dont see the Jets wanting to trade within the division and to a border rival unless they clearly win the trade…
Sounds like McGroarty for 13 was a done deal if Buium didn’t fall in their lap – good choice imo.
Now McGroarty for Rossi is the exact type of trade you’ve been pumping Joe. Who says no?
Really like the Ritchie pick… follows their template of high skill high ceiling forwards in the 2nd round, like Hate and Hite
Tampa and Utah with some fireworks to start day 2. Cool to see Utah come out swinging
Now McGroarty for Rossi is the exact type of trade you’ve been pumping Joe. Who says no?
I think the Jets really dont want to trade to a division/border rival and are waiting to see if they’ll get a comparable offer from another team before circling back to the Wild.
I wouldn’t offer more than a straight up swap Rossi for McGroarty trade…
Lots of trade action today so if its gonna happen, it probably does in the next few hours…
I still dont like the idea of trading Rossi, but I can understand it IF they think Yurov or Heidt can replace him…
The other thing to think about if trading for McGroarty is do we have roster spots for all these kids without pigeonholing some of them on the 4th line with limited minutes? Buium, Yurov, Ohgren, Khusnutdinov and potentially McGroarty…
if you trade for McGroarty, you’re committing to sign him at the end of next season (his junior college season) and burning the first year of his ELC, same with Buium and Yurov…
so what was the +/- draft pick result of Tampa Bay’s failed Tanner Jeannot experiment?
Net loss of 1st 3rd 5th and a prospect for like 1 season of healthy scratching him in the playoffs
I thought the reason for trading Rossi was not having room for him and now they don’t have room for the guy they’re trading him for lol wtf?
Not trading because it’s in the same division is a coward move but agree GMs don’t like to do it… because they are cowards
