He just had a coaching change and did worse sooo…

exactly, the only positive this time around is I believe the Michigan State coach also coached him at the USNTDP/WJC where he played his best hockey and got him in the 1st round pick discussion? Hastings follows the KHL philosophy of playing older players over younger ones and Charlie was one of the younger players in college hockey…

I watched about 4 or 5 Wisconsin games this season and he didn’t stand out in any of them…I think his ceiling is that of a 4th line NHL checking center…he was always good at faceoffs, so that might be his saving grace….

Don’t forget about the MN North Stars.

If you want to include “former” teams that never won, you’re still missing a few others. I am pretty sure he meant current teams though.

I thought about putting them on there…I did not since they technically have not even played a game yet.

Wasn’t younger Lucious their leading scorer? He’s like 6 months older than Stramel and was also a sophomore

Yes. He’s transferred to Arizona State for next season.

yes, I wouldn’t expect somebody who’s producing (whatever their age) to not get icetime… That definitely wasn’t Charlie…

Sounds like Joe Pavelski is hanging up the skates for good, not a bad career for a 7th round draft pick! He was a Wild killer over his career….

I really thought with Hastings coming in to see Stramel have a better season but that didnt happen. Very disappointing. Hastings usually gets the most out of his guys so if Stramel couldnt do it with him then I am really wondering whether or not there is anything there to get.

Pavelski had a great career. If this is the end nothing for him to hang his head about. Would have loved to see him in a Wild sweater at one point.

Meh, I just wanted to point out the Stars. Because MN is by far the most debunked sports state of all time.

Fenton chose Zuccy + an extra year of term over Pavelski (to be fair, Pavelski is almost 3 years older)…its funny that they both had disastrous 1st years with the Wild and Stars and there was alot of talk if they had lost their game and were bad FA acquisitions…but then they both turned it around and had their best NHL scoring seasons playing with younger phenoms…

Zuccy was at least injured (recovering from a broken arm I think) I dont think Pavelski was when he was with the stars.

More like Pavelski chose Dallas and Zuccy was the consolation prize. Pavelski and Kessel, both Wisconsin guys around Suter’s age, turned down the Wild that summer.

Pavelski was at least a stud in the playoffs year 1 for Dallas

Didn’t he want 4 years from us and Fenton said no at his age, he then signed with Dallas and no big names were left so Fenton caved to Zuccy with the 4th year as a last minute panic sign?

Other than his first season, he was a steal for Dallas, he was stud every year in the playoffs for them except this one where he just fell off a cliff…mimics Zuccy’s Wild run (minus the playoff success)

Salary cap increased more than expected for next season (5.39%) and will likely get max increases the next 3-4 years as well… this is why you see teams take big risks on good young players with a max deal vs bridge deal… Jack Hughes is the poster boy, he’ll end up being like only 6-7% of their cap in a few years…

I don’t suppose TNT will be getting any finals games. Bummer

Hoping this series goes 7. If FLA stays out of the box, they’ll take the series.

I’d like to see Canada win a cup again!!

Apparently the heat index in south Florida was 112 today. Wonder how that affects the ice.

Florida just physically bullying the Oilers…

The Oilers were totally exposed last night. 2 goals against on 5 SOG and all while Florida looked like they were hung over from a wild party the night before and played about half of a game. Except, of course, for Bobrovsky. And still they were totally manhandling the Oilers.

Bobrovsky was just stellar. He’s now living rent free in the Oilers heads for the rest of the series.

It feels to me like the Oilers are already in a must win position in G2.

Poor Canada. Florida is going to steam roll the oilers if they don’t figure out the B-man.

So the Oilers dominate for 50 minutes but the notoriously hot and cold goalie steals game 1… and the reaction is “oh sh!t Edmonton’s in trouble” ????

Did I watch a different game?

CapFriendly was bought by the Capitals and is going dark on July 1… big loss for the spreadsheet nerds like myself! Big opportunity for someone to step in and replace it. PuckPedia is already pretty good so I’m guessing that’ll be the new go to.

I wonder why the capitals would buy that? Seems like an odd thing for a team to buy.

WTF! I wonder if they just hired the guys that run it into their Analytics team and they just won’t have time to do it anymore? Its all public data, so its not like they have any exclusivity to anything…

    Somebody will duplicate its functionality

Every team has their cap guru right. (well except the Wild I guess) Maybe this is their version of a really expensive cap guru? Maybe it was just because the name CapsFriendly works so perfect, who knows!

all it does is buy the Caps some time having exclusivity to CapFriendlys logic, queries and webtools, most of which are probably already being done in-house with customization by most NHL teams (I agree, GMBG was probably using CF as a lifeline)

Yeah it just seems odd to me that a team would buy it. WHy not just use it for well FREE! I suppose having exclusivity has advantages but I hardly think its worth it.

They get the skillsets of the owners ) I’m sure they have some cool ideas but lacked the funding to implement them…now they have a bigger budget…

I’m sure the Capitals just look at it as a way to improve their team outside of the normal salary constrained channels, perhaps it gives them an edge somewhere…
