They have their 1C their top line finished in the top 5 this year. EE isn’t the issue.
Their second line was awful 5 on 5 and goal tending was well below average.
Not much offense coming from middle six.

Well, neither does the league so don’t feel alone.

This is their largest problem. Freddy and JoJo better have a good year next year. Dont have to pot 30, but sheesh do something out there.

I think injecting Ohgren and Khusnutdinov will help…Next year is Jojo’s last chance to get another decent contract in the league, so he’ll be motivated…as much as I dislike him, Freddy is a proud player and will do whatever is needed to get better, hopefully this allows GMBG to find somebody to unload his contract on…Next season is all about prepping the kids (Ohgren, Khusnutdinov, Lambos, Hunt, Wallstedt, Heidt?) to be ready to take over roster spots the following year…Next season’s success or failure will all rest on Kirill’s health, if he stays healthy, they’ll likely get a playoff spot, if he gets hurt, we’re looking at another lottery draft…

Imagine that, another Chicago Blackhawks employee files a lawsuit claiming sexual harassment among other things and claimed she filed the incidents with the Blackhawks awhile ago and nothing was ever done…

saw this on a hockey trade rumor website so take it for what its worth, but it said GMBG is interested in adding Martin Necas from the Hurricanes… He’s still an RFA with arbitration rights and Carolina has ALOT of players to decide to sign this offseason and Necas could be a cap casualty…The Wild would want confirmation he’d sign long term with them before making a trade…He’s probably in the $7aav range…

He’s 6’2″ can play center or wing (mostly wing) and is a RH shot…He’s the type of player who likely hasn’t hit his ceiling yet buried on a great top 6 in Carolina, I’d be all for it…

Blackhawks “said” there was an outside firm hired and there was no supporting evidence. They also said those implicated were never employed by the Blackhawks. Fire them to the sun.

I guarantee you that Hieskanen goal was on a set PP breakout play, worked perfectly!

Nice to see Wild D prospect David Spacek playing so well for Chechia at the Worlds…of all the D kids at Iowa, I think he’ll be one of the few that actually has an NHL career…

The Chechia goalie they signed is also playing really well! had a shutout his last game…

I saw a few more stories on this trading for Necas idea, one speculated a Rossi and Spurgeon (to make the capspace work) for Necas trade… This would then allow the Wild to sign Necas to a $7 x 8 contract extension. Spurgeon’s full NMC changes to a limited NMC starting next season (15 team no trade list) I doubt Carolina would be on that list… Obviously this will leave a hole in the Wild’s top 4 defenseman, it would likely force them to draft a D with pick #13, maybe they sign a cheap veteran UFA as a 1 year stopgap and then look for a better option after next season when $13 million in buyout cap opens up? This would help Carolina in that Rossi still has 1 year left on his ELC and Spurgeon’s $7.5 x 3 would be more doable for a solid veteran D vs re-signing somebody like Brady Skjei for 7-8 years…

This would give the Wild a potential Yurov – Necas – Ohgren/Heidt 2nd line of the future to help with secondary scoring…Of course the Wild won’t be the only team interested in Necas, so we’ll see what happens…

Necas would check an awful lot of boxes for the Wild…

Elliot Friedman reporting that the Canes will NOT extend Martin Necas and will instead focus their capspace on Jack Guentzel and other UFA/RFA’s they have…Sounds like they are open to a sign & trade allowing the extension to be 8 years instead of 7…

let the trade speculation begin! I’d absolutely give up Rossi for a trade involving Necas, the question is what else goes with Rossi…

It would have to be someone with a big contract or multiple pieces. The wild guys at worlds are sure playing well!

Absolute insanity. This would be the kind of deal Fecktard Fenton would do.

How would the Wild possibly come out ahead by moving Rossi AND a top 2 defender for a 24 goal/53 point guy? Rossi will EASILY beat that goal and most probably point tally next season so Spurgeon would be given away for zero gain.

The only Rossi package deal where the wild actually gain would have to involve packaging an underachiever player that wild want to dump anyway. Break even trades don’t do the wild any good. We have to have a trade that actually gets us something more than we have or it makes no sense.

Why would other teams want to trade away a loss in a trade. Just like the wild who can not afford to lose in a trade.

IDK if its insanity. Yes, I would love to keep Rossi because I really like him and he had a breakout year, but we have many other pieces of need to shore up the top 6. Next year might be a rough year anyway but its the end of the major cap penalties and they will have money after that to address center or hope one of their drafted players step up.

They won’t have that much money most will go to KK, but if he doesn’t resign then yes they will have all sorts of money but likely a new GM as well.

They will have 35M in cap space after next season, then 53M after the following season. There is money. Granted they will have to sign other pieces but that is a lot to work with.

That 53 is with 8 players signed neither of which are Brock and KK.
Not saying they will be money strapped but without moving pieces I doubt they are signing a 12 million 1C if one were even available.

I already said they will have to move pieces multiple times already.

Necas is bigger, right shot and averaging 3/4 points per game over his career, but I agree with Grouse.
    Not worth what the cost.

I agree Tom. The only upside of potentially coming out on the downside of the trade would be dumping salary to make room for younger players but that in itself doesn’t make the team better for sure.

So Matvie Mitchkov can just void his KHL contract and come over to the NHL?

Yeah its been done before. Money under the table from the NHL team. Cant remember who it was before but it has been done. Russo talked about it when we were dealing with KK..

I understand the player has to want to leave (not sure if that was the case for Kirill) but there’s zero chance the Wild wasn’t willing to pay to get Kirill over here earlier…It’s certainly possible Bill Daly and Gary Bettman turn a blind eye to money under the table rules in order to get a superstar in a major market….

Every team I wanted to win in the 2nd round has lost so far, I’m retiring from the 2024 playoffs if the Oilers lose tonight.

That would also mean all 4 division winners in the conference finals. I can’t imagine that has happened before, at least not since there’s been more than like 20 teams.
