Yeah, their record against good teams has been atrocious this year. Especially those in the CEntral. Sheesh it was bad.

Really enjoyable watching KK do the bank shot off of Talbot as well as the classic hip check on Fiala. KK almost had another goal that Talbot nearly kicked in as well.

Poor Gologoski, missed that chance after getting out of the box, but he had to shoot high to get away from the defender’s stick, it wasn’t the “empty net” chance the homer LA announcers were saying it was.

Good luck to LA in the playoffs, they won’t be there for long, but I suppose Fiala is just getting ready to put it in beast mode and once again become a playoff goalscoring machine as he’s done so often in the past. It’s like the guy has another gear, there’s Playoff Overdrive, and then Fiala Playoff Over-overdrive.

Reminder of game 82 last season:

Goose lead the way with 24+ minutes TOI
Connor Dewar lead the forwards with 20+ minutes
Reavo played what has to be a career high 18+ minutes including 1:05 on the PP
Damien Giroux and Nick Swaney played their only NHL games

Last and also very much least… The team announced during warmups that Freddy Hockey signed a 5 year contract extension, and then Freddy went out and scored what I believe were the final 2 goals of his career (don’t check my math on that one)

weren’t we just saving our main guys for the playoffs?

for hockey fans who didn’t catch the Red Wings vs Canadians last night, do yourself a favor and watch the recap (although it doesn’t come close to capturing the drama) for some perspective, if the Wings lose, their small playoff chances are over…

The jumping keep in by Ghost with less than a minute left was one of the best “hockey plays” i’ve ever seen, just ridiculous…

Yep, he’s just building up steam. He’s playoff dynamite.

So you’re saying Kings in how many games then?

I have not gotten to watch many games the last few weeks but I did catch the hip check and the goal. The hip check was great and even better with it being on Fiala.

Nope only saying you singled out a guy who had 6 points in 3 playoff games last year, while injured

Even better they had iso cam Kirill laughing on the bench after lol

The Capitals, Red Wings, Penguins, and Flyers are all vying for one playoff spot with 1 game remaining. The tie breaking scenarios are pretty mind boggling too.

    Tonight
    Red Wings at Canadiens
    Capitals at Flyers

    Tomorrow
    Penguins at Islanders

Who do we think is going to fill this final playoff spot? I had the Penguins left for dead a month ago. They’ve been on a tear.

I would put zero money on the Pens but I’m 100% rooting for them to get in. They’ve faced by far the toughest schedule the last 6 games but they’re still hanging around. Will the Islanders rest players? I guess none of that matters if the Caps or Wings win. So my heart says Penguins, my logical brain says Wings, and absolutely no way can it be the Capitals. So it’ll probably be the Capitals jester

Gim you (correctly) had the Penguins dead back in like November! I’ve (incorrectly) been a loyal believer in them that last 2 seasons plus that playoff series against the rangers, and even I had them as cooked after those losses following the trade deadline.

I want the Caps in…that team was gutted and yet they still control their playoff destiny…Ovi was counted out all season and yet he’s over 30 goals again…

Interesting tidbit about the Flyers vs Capitals game tonight, if the game is tied in the 3rd period, the Flyers will be forced to pull their goalie to try and get the regulation win, that could equate to an easy empty net goal for the Caps to wrap up the final playoff spot…

I want the Penguins to lose so it hopefully forces Dubois to move Crosby out so he doesn’t rot away on an aging team for the rest of his career…

I definitely had them dead at more than one point this season. Same with the Capitals. wave

I also definitely didn’t have the Devils being this bad either.

Good point, for this reason alone the Caps probably have the best shot. I forgot they own the tiebreaker over Detroit and are the one team that’s win and in.

With the way that race has gone I feel there’s a good chance all 4 teams lose too! Caps losing in OT but still getting in would be the fairy-tale ending to that race rotflol

yes, I’m considering a Flyers OT win a loss

it’s possible projected top 10 players like Cole Eiserman or Zeev Buium could slide, but unlikely…

Central Scouting lists dropped today and Eiserman is all the way down to 12 on the NA list, so roughly 15-20 overall. Crazy considering a year or two ago it was Celebrini/Eiserman 1/2. The kid just scores goals, lots of goals. Also one of the youngest in the draft

How about the Red Wings vs Montreal in back to back home/away games with so much on the line for Detroit…especially after Detroit’s HUGE comeback last night… I have Detroit carrying the momentum and winning tonight

I think Washington beats the Flyers (wrapping up the final East Wildcard spot)

I think the Penguins will beat a rested Islanders team in a no drama game 82 Wednesday night…

yeah, I’m a HUGE Cole Eiserman fan…one could argue his drop in production is just due to all of the stud USNTDP players that left last year…he was on pace to break all USNTDP scoring records…

I soured on Eiserman after he de-commited and kept falling down draft lists. But now I just read The Athletic’s puff piece and I’m 100% all-in on him at 10-15 jester

Jack Edwards is retiring after this season… he was hard to listen to before he had health problems, afterwards it was inevitable…

Think he’ll get in a 1-1 with Pat Maroon before he goes?

Jack Edwards was an all time great pure and unfiltered Homer. Just a shell of himself doing pxp the last couple years, I hope he gets his health issues figured out.

Will they be able to fit 17,000+ fans in the Utah Jazz arena? Or will they build a brand new arena for the team?

My understanding is that initially they will be playing in same arena as the Jazz.

Beyond that, there is at least somewhat of a plan to build a new hockey-specific arena.

I do not see how a hockey team will be successful in Utah. My opinion.

I also think it would be a bad move to have Winnipeg go back to Atlanta.
