I sure hope the Wild are able to draft Zeev Buium, the kid is just electric with the puck on his stick…

That was dirty. Drew over 2 BC defenders and then made a nice pass to Lorenz who shelfed it. BC cannot generate much offense.

Reiger Lorenz is turning into the type of player the Wild hoped for when they drafted him, he should be a force next year for Denver and then the Wild will sign him…

Its so painful watching Gabe Perrault’s wizardy in this National Championship game knowing we could have picked him…

I don’t think it’s possible to lose to the sharks, this was always a calendar W

Wild will most likely pick #12 now with like a 5% chance of getting the #2 pick… The lotto luck has to hit sometime though, why not now…

Didnt see a lick of the game live, but just watched the recap. Wallstedt would likely want the second goal back, but the first one he had no chance since it deflected of the defenders rear end right in front of him. Sounds like Ohgren and Pi$$ missile had good games. Marat was sure battling in front of the net on the eventual goal by Ohgren.

it was more of the kids playing well than anything else, of course Kirill’s line dominated too…San Jose is just godawful…

Wild can’t get any lower than 12th pick now (before lottery) but they could bump up to 15th if they win their next two games and the few teams ahead of them lose…

I thought if they lost out they could still get to 11, but I may have looked at it wrong. Certainly not out of the realm of possibilities that they would lose out, they certainly arent winning out.

We’re currently and can get no lower than 12th and then we need to see what Washington, Detroit, Philly and Pittsburg do their final 1-2 games to see who of that group makes the last Wildcard spot and who slots in the 12, 13, 14, 15 picks, the Blues will likely have the 16th pick…We would own the tiebreaker with most/all of them (regulation wins) thus any teams we’re tied with would get the lower pick…it’s likely going to come down to the final game and we’ll likely beat Seattle at home….

The players expected to get picked in the 12th slot are the HUGE 6’7″ Russian defender Anton Silayev, Jerome’s son Wing Tij Iginla, Koivu clone Konsta Helenius, Defender Adam Jurisic…

it’s possible projected top 10 players like Cole Eiserman or Zeev Buium could slide, but unlikely…

Danila Yurov’s team won their semi-final game 7 today and will be playing for the KHL Cup.. Yurov scored the 2nd goal of the game, he has 6 goals so far this KHL playoffs…
Still holding out a shred of hope he’ll want to come over next season if his KHL team wins the Cup this year..

Considering how Jerome Iginla used to own the Wild, might be nice to have his kid on the roster.

agreed! we could use the good karma… but of course he’s left handed…we could really use a RH shooter in the system…I still think D should be our focus if the pick lines up, but we shouldn’t reach for a need like we did with Stramel..

Official tank commander Freddy Hockey returns tonight, so you can take that pick #12 straight to the bank. I think Boldy was pick #12. Or maybe they get real lucky and there’s a big center available with 4th line potential. Just take the best dam player available, period.

Boldy was indeed #12 in one of the best draft classes in history and I just saw a stat that said sofar he has the 2nd most points scored in his NHL career (Jack Hughes is 1st by a mile)

I agree that 1st rounders just need to be the best player available other than if it’s a tough choice between 2 players and one is a position of organizational need, its probably better to take that kid…Wild went way off the board last year when they took Stramel for need and sofar it looks like an absolute disaster vs taking BPA Gabe Perrault (but while Charlie is still young, the Wild likely has only 1 more year to make a decision to keep him or not…)

If we cannot get into the top 11 then just take whoever falls to us. A tree of a defenseman certainly wouldnt suck.

it would be interesting to see if the Wild could find a trade partner a few picks ahead of them and include (in addition to maybe our 4th round pick) one of our Iowa defenseman as a trade kicker and then grab one of the top 10 D prospects with skill and size…odds are the kid they draft wouldn’t be ready for Iowa in 2 years anyways and we currently have a logjam of same aged D prospects and only so much playing time to give them all…

Odds of trading up into the top 10 of the 1st round is very rare, but we moved up two picks to #20 for Wallstedt and it only cost us a 3rd rounder…

If they draft a Russian at 12 we all know he will be stuck there for several years most likely.

yeah, it seems to be either 2 or 4 years they stay in the KHL…either works as we’ll likely widdle down the 6 x 21year old defenders we currently have in Iowa over the next few years, 4 years aligns with Spurgeon and Brodin likely done with the Wild…

Not all Russians are the same, contract wise. Some are under KHL contract for 5 years like Michkov, most year to year in MHL/KHL, and some are already playing in North America at time of their draft. The 2 Russians drafted before Yurov in 2021 both played in the NHL this season.

Sounds like Demidov is coming over 25/26, Silayev is under contract through 25/26, Chernyshov contract is up after next season, and Leshunov (Belarus) is already at Michigan State.

The Athletic had Boldy pegged at #7 and #8 in 2019 so there’s always the sure top 10 guy or two that falls a bit. Reading back their 2019 prospect rankings a couple lines really stick out…

His combination of puck skills and hockey IQ are among the best in the draft. His hand-eye coordination is off the charts. Pucks stick to him.

However, he had stretches this season where he didn’t impact games, and sometimes they were long stretches.

Today I gained respect for Corey Pronman, he really nailed it there shock

yeah, the Washington kid had an existing KHL contract they were somehow able to get him out of (they’ve done that before, can’t hurt having Ovi making calls)…This draft class is also the first for the proposed new “Russian model” where they have vowed to retain their under 21 year old players in the KHL and not let them come over to the NHL until they are deemed “Ready” They listed Demidov as being one of the first players they are focusing on for it… what that will truly look like nobody knows yet…

Russian’s will always be draft wildcards, the good thing for the Wild is that they’ve built a good reputation over the years with Kirill, Marat and hopefully Danila…

They’ll get a good prospect this draft, it would just be so much nicer picking at 12 vs 15 which is what 2 meaningless wins will get them…

I saw the third period and OT. Highly entertaining.

Four teams vying for one playoff spot out east and it’s gonna come down to game 82.

Well I certainly didnt see them winning that game last night, but you just cannot stop KK97. Now they will likely win their last game too and screw everything up Joe! You jinxed them.

yeah it sucks… at least we’re getting a glimpse of what the Wild future could look like with the kids playing so well…there’s no chance they lose on Thursday now, that means we’ll likely pick 14 or 15th overall…

Reminder of game 82 last season:

Goose lead the way with 24+ minutes TOI
Connor Dewar lead the forwards with 20+ minutes
Reavo played what has to be a career high 18+ minutes including 1:05 on the PP
Damien Giroux and Nick Swaney played their only NHL games

Last and also very much least… The team announced during warmups that Freddy Hockey signed a 5 year contract extension, and then Freddy went out and scored what I believe were the final 2 goals of his career (don’t check my math on that one)

Last night was the first regulation win against a playoff team since they beat the Oilers on February 23rd, 24 games ago – almost 2 months. The only other win against a playoff team in that span was the OT goalie pull win against Nashville.

Oh now we are doing satire on this site?

LOL 99% of that was true… just the weirdest game ever
