I want it on record that he will not stay 2 years and will sign with the blues next year. I think he may feel he has more to prove in college and that’s pretty normal. The chance of winning a national championship vs languishing in the ahl is very appealing.

yeah, I agree with that as well… I just said its rare for a college player to turn down an ELC offering an immediate spot in the NHL and burning a year off the ELC, typically its the NHL team telling the player they aren’t ready vs telling them they believe they are… turning down signing the ELC adds some risk from an on/off ice injury perspective…

I’m a fan of Jimmy and was pissed we passed on him at #19 and then the Blues took him right before us at #22 (its been hinted that Judd would have taken him at #23 instead of Yurov) He’s be lethal on our PP taking 1 timers..

Great Rangers vs Devils game tonight, 6 fights and 8 ejections in the 1st period! Opening faceoff all 10 players square off!

“The odds are very low” lol your first comments were hope he has a big insurance policy and what a huge risk to take.

Name one example with a prospect of Snug’s level and pedigree playing out like you’re suggesting. Bonus points for being in the last 20 years

what does “Level or Pedigree” have to do with it? Anybody can get hurt at any level (NHL-CHL) ELC values (outside of bonuses) are pretty comparable with small jumps per round…

Lol seriously?? Because anything short of losing a leg and they’re still signing Jimmy Snuggerud to his ELC. Obviously that’s different for a lesser prospect.

Name an example. Tell us why he why he needs that big insurance policy. You’re confusing this with college football.

Fight night in New York. Dumb that 8 of the 10 get kicked out for a game opening line brawl. Did that happen the last time these teams did this when Carter and Stu Bickel were going at it?

There’s the plus minus disciple coming back out. Scared of the big bad analytics monster so better make fun of it.

Great deflection but we’re all still waiting to hear about all these top tier “no doubt NHL ready” 1st round pick college players with career ending injuries costing them millions sleeping

FFS this my 3rd attempt to post this response, this site sucks posting from a phone…

I’ll find examples and post later, it can be catastrophic injuries or just life issues like a health diagnosis that ends early careers, this is my point on the risk of not signing, you dont know the future and we live day to day.

    BUT

If he signed his ELC, its fully guaranteed no matter what happens except if any off ice injury is deemed at the negligent fault of ones self and the team can then void it (it’s worded differently in contracts, but you get the point)

You want it in record or he does. He flat out said he is signing after next year.

BTW Ek Boldy KK line is the best line per 60 this year. At least that was the stat on TV.

Not sure what it is about the Dallas Stars (its not the North Stars connection) but I just can’t stand them…

Feels like they’ve been under the radar all season with everyone in awe of the Avs… They are going to be tough to beat…

I had a few minutes on the couch this morning waiting for my kids to get ready for school, here’s a 2017 Penguins 2nd round draft pick (51st overall) Zach Lauzon who was the QMJHL Defenseman of the year his draft year who developed concussion issues after he was drafted but unfortunately didnt sign his ELC yet…he was forced to quit hockey a few years later and the Penguins relinquished his draft rights after never signing him…All he has to show for his Pro Hockey Career is an NHL draft certificate…

Curious to hear your theory on how 28 earlier draft pick slots or “pedigree” would stop this from happening to a player? Yes its rare, but it can and does happen, hence the risk not signing…

    QMJHL Defenseman of the year

    rotflol lol read it again

Joe I’m sorry for taking you away from KHL junior highlight reels, but that situation is not even close to Snuggerud. Yes there’s a massive difference between 23rd pick and 51st puck. Plus Snug has 2 full seasons and 2 WJC tournaments in since his draft. That Lauzon kid played 25 career games after his draft, never even close to the NHL. He was never offered an NHL contract that he turned down, and that is the whole point here. Kids who turn down NHL contracts and then never end up making it… doesn’t happen.

Hey at least I learned that Jeremy Lauzon has a brother

That fight to start the Rangers Devils game was just dumb. That REmpe kid I dont think is going to last long in the league. He will have CTE in 3 years.

Old time hockey. Last full line brawl I can remember was I think Flames and Canucks, had to be 10+ years ago. What I want to know is in previous line brawls have all “2nd Fight” players been given game misconducts like that? That is the dumb part

I thought Big Mac’s comments about having a lot of respect for Rempe were pretty silly after a couple weeks ago saying he has no respect for Rempe

I honestly have no idea if/when an ELC was offered, the story didn’t go into that (typically CHL early round picks sign within 1 year of being drafted, some even earlier, some later) but the point is if you don’t sign your ELC, you are guaranteed NOTHING other than a signed draft certificate.
IF Snuggy were to get destroyed in an open ice hit to his head next season and has lingering concussion symptoms that forces him to quit hockey (like the story you just read) all he’ll have is a signed NHL draft certificate as well…that’s the entire basis for my comment on the risk involved in not signing his ELC…

I even collected your bonus points! score!

yep, earlier I mentioned he should and most likely does…

no idea what those cost, likely depends on what you value your future earnings would be/what you’re comfortable with should the unthinkable happen…I remember football player Willis McGahee took out like a $2.5 million policy before his final bowl game in college and absolutely destroyed his knee in the 4th quarter, he ultimately declined collecting it so he could stay eligible for the Draft where he slipped to pick #23 when he was a projected high pick before the injury costing him alot of money…it would be interesting to know what that policy cost him?

The google machine says it is generally “$18,000 to $25,000” per YEAR! So its hefty.

Yeah obviously this situation is a whole different ball game in football and evident based on how many players sit out bowl games and don’t finish seasons. 2 completely different worlds. Big differences are hockey players are already drafted, and their rookie contract is not tied directly to their draft position.
