i’m thinking the Avs will go after Elias Lindholm…then Vancouver can go after Guentzel but they’ll need the Avs 2024 1st rounder to do it….

    Good for him. Good dude.
    That’s a hell of a raise.

I can guarantee Torts won’t be their for the end of that contract.

My favorite Wild memory of Seeler is the ridiculous off-season training video of him boxing and then doing some massive 2-hander chop workout with a medicine ball.

Mittlestedt’s game just screams playoff grit…lol…I think Freddy or Jojo could take him….I’m not saying Wenneberg is a tough guy either, but Mittlestedt’s a creampuff

Wennberg was penciled in by pretty much everybody to be going to the Avs, so I was surprised he didn’t…I still think the Avs will get a center nobody thought was available…

Wennberg got a 2nd, Mittelstadt got Bo Byram whistling

Lots of risk in taking Byram, he’s skilled for sure, but he’s also another concussion away from turning into a Pierre Marc Bouchard…I have no stake in Wennberg, just saying he was penciled into the Avs by everyone…

as mention, Buffalo already has 2-3 better players than Byram with the same skillsets, so it’s likely they move him for a need piece later on…

I shouldn’t have to say this I thought it would be obvious, but….

Bo Byram >>>>>> Late 2nd round pick

wow, I guess they didn’t want to pay for Wennberg

The league could fix this LTIR issue as easily as saying if you’re on LTIR at the trade deadline then you can’t be in the playoffs.

They could fix it numerous ways, but until they do teams are going to use it when they can.

Or just keep the same salary cap you enforced for 82 games in the playoffs…

GMs had their chance to change LTIR rules last offseason and voted not to. I just laugh at Vegas’s boldness with it, but as mentioned, all teams CAN do it too if they wanted…

They just put Alec Martinez on LTIR…Which lead to this gold twitter response by an NHL fan:

even if you don’t like Vegas (I don’t) you have to respect their front office for doing EVERYTHING they can to make their team better whenever possible…

The negotiation of the condition on the 2024 1st round pick to Calgary that it rolls to a 2025 1st rounder IF Vegas uses it in another trade by the end of this deadline? Never heard of that one before…big balls to ask for that and get it….

They don’t negotiate that unless they have a pretty good idea they will be burning it today or tomorrow…watch them get Guentzel now…

Vegas. It’s a destination team for any player. But you have zero security once you get there. That front office has no loyalty to anyone at any time. They operate differently than any other team in the league and it has worked. To get the Cup after six years in existence? Compare that to the way BG operates. You gotta love Vegas nobody does it bigger or better.

Very true, it will be interesting to see how it plays out long term…They are definitely a case study in building a successful team via Buying & Trading vs building a prospect pool…

Vegas has changed the game a bit, they started a pseudo “MoneyPuck” type of change in how an NHL organization’s thinking process works…They’ve decided it’s better to trade their 18-20 year old still unknown prospects for 23+ year old established NHL players and sprinkle in some high dollar stars around them…Will it spark other teams to change course and do the same? we’ll see….

They all want to change the LTIR rules, but they want the changes to only apply to the other teams. Since they can’t have that, they leave them alone in the hopes that their team will be the one to take gain a big advantage by using them.

Man. wouldn’t it be great for the Wild to be back in contention and actually looking to make some deals to get ready for a deep run? If only. Just so much fun here in the Land of 10,000 no trade clauses.

At least Marat is coming and that’ll be something to watch the rest of the season.

No lie. As unlucky as MN is in sports, you have to look at Edmonton and just shake your head. It’s like the Bambino Curse, if nobody’s talking about the Gretzky Curse in Edmonton, well, they should be. I know they won 1 more, but still you have to wonder…

Yeah the Oilers are cursed more than we are at this point and the Leafs are right there too, but at least they got out of the first round last year. Seems like the oilers cant even win a couple games. I have a feeling this year will be different though.

Those guys would have been moved with or without NTC. Very few guys are moved with term unless you are getting term and money back.

Edmonton has won 3 series the last 2 years and lost to the cup winners both times, they’re miles ahead of the Leafs

LTIR gets more of the best players into the playoffs and personally I’m a fan of that. I’m sure the league is too
