Bogosian extended 2 year x $1.25m and it does not include any trade protection

    I dig it.

Now get Merril off the books and it will look that much cleaner. Don’t think it happens this week and may need to determine Spurge’s health moving forward this off season.
Otherwise Merril becomes the next Goose.

Vancouver possibly flipping recently aquired Elias Lindholm for Jake Guentzel is pretty crazy…

I mean they do have another Elias Petterson who could be included jester

Bogosian was already a replacement for Addison. He fills a need for this team and has been punching above his weight since they got him

Yeah I know I just want to to see some young guys play if there is an injury depth piece needed vs Merril. Although I don’t think it’s a guarantee Chisholm plays full time next year either.

They can always stash Merrill in Iowa just need one of the young guys to step up and take a job like Duhaime Dewar and Shaw did. Last NHL level D to come outta Iowa is Soucy.

    Agree on Chisholm

Really strange that Bogosian didn’t get trade protection in his extension…he fits the narrative for the type of player who typically gets one (veteran player with kids who has no interest in moving again)

is this a new way of doing business for GMBG? or perhaps the extra year of term was the bargaining chip for not including a NMC/NTC?

Maybe got an extra $100k for lack of a clause, who knows. Is a partial NTC really that bad on these short term deals for cheap bottom of the lineup players? I think no, Vegas and Tampa hand out NTCs to everyone and never have a problem getting rid of guys when they need to. I mean Maroon had a 15-team and Bogo had a 21-team no trade list when they got traded here. Kulikov had one when they dumped him to Anaheim, who then dumped him to Pitt. Dubnyk and Staal both had partial NTC’s when they were traded.

It’s the NMC’s (like Goose) that are killer – there’s a huge difference.

Tarasenko to Florida with 50% salary retained for basically nothing in return.

For a 4th and a 3rd. 4th turns into a third if Florida wins the cup.

Terasenko is a shadow of the superstar player he used to be, but he can still score PP goals…that return makes sense imo…

curious to see if the chips start to fall quickly with other teams/players….was it two years ago when pretty much all of the trades were done by Wednesday/Thursday?

Bout the same as the Jojo trade last year and Tarasenko still a lot better player. He was good for NYR last year and scored a million goals in the previous playoffs against the Wild. Has a full no-trade so maybe he picked his landing spot

It’s the salary retention that has me scratching my head not the 2 picks.

What’s the question? A 3rd for Tarasenko and a 4th (could become a 3rd) for the salary retention

I guess I don’t know what he makes now but figured it was a lot so retaining 50% seems excessive to me.

50% is what always gets retained at the deadline. He’s UFA

Oh I guess if I look at it that way it makes sense. It’s the remaining salary not entire year.

Mini blockbuster Middlestadt to Colorado for Bowen Byram

I dont really understand CO doing this trade. they have been high on Byram. Probably worried they wont be able to afford him?

They’ve been looking for a 2C since Kadri left and must think Casey can fill that. Byram would always be buried with Makar and Girard as puck moving D there. Seems like he’s buried in Buffalo though too with Dahlin and Power ??

Philly waiving Johansen is gold rotflol

wow, I guess they didn’t want to pay for Wennberg, really curious to see what Edmonton paid for Adam Henrique?

    Ducks get a 1st and a conditional 5th…

Colorado clearing capspace for something big…I don’t think Mittlestedt is their solution for 2C…

How the F is Tampa allowed to be a cap broker? They’ve been living in LTIR for years…

Hold up are you saying they didn’t want to pay up for Alexander Wenneberg… as in the price would be more than Bo Byram? For Alexander Wenneberg? Like we’re thinking of the same guy here? Mittelstadt is a much better pick up for now and the future.

Mittlestedt’s game just screams playoff grit…lol…I think Freddy or Jojo could take him….I’m not saying Wenneberg is a tough guy either, but Mittlestedt’s a creampuff

Wennberg was penciled in by pretty much everybody to be going to the Avs, so I was surprised he didn’t…I still think the Avs will get a center nobody thought was available…
