So I’m guessing/hoping the Zuccy – Freddy – Jojo experiment gets erased from the whiteboard?

Yea I don’t know what they were thinking. 3 guys who only want to pass the puck. They need to be with shooters.

All the criticism of that Freddy line in a game where the top line made the mistake that cost them? Not saying their line was good by any means, but they didn’t really do much at all good or bad and yet everyone is focussed on them like they cost the game. I’m hoping we see Shaw get a game here before the injured guys are back, Looch likely comes out but Freddy certainly could too.

It seems like Hynes is cultivating a culture where it’s the #1 top line and then the other 9 forwards are interchangeable and fighting for ice time every night. The lines are changing by the 3rd period almost every game, depending on who’s going that night. Yet every day when Russo tweets out new combos it’s ‘omg Rossi on the 4th line’ ‘omg Freddy on the 2nd line’ ‘omg Hartman is on every line’. It’s not that serious, as long as the guys who deserve the ice time are getting it – and they are – who cares where they are on the line chart. Coaches preach that stuff starting in squirts

I thought Rossi sprained his knee for sure on that “penalty”, it didn’t look good. Was very surprised and even more so relieved to see him right back out without missing a shift.

You can and should juggle players in/out of your bottom 6 but not your second line…

You need them to produce as they are more expected to score against the 2nd D pairing…If they shuffle next game I think the second line should be Zuccy – Rossi – Letteiri or Hartman (yes I’m vouching for Hartman here, but look who the other options are….) as those are the players who are actually producing at some rate lately…I know he doesn’t fit the bill from a production standpoint, but I think Letteiri’s speed and tenacity could work well with Zuccy and Rossi…Hartman more from the tenacity standpoint…

This then poses the issue of Jojo playing bottom 6 where his game just doesn’t align well (he’s super soft and doesn’t forecheck hard) but that doesn’t give him the golden ticket to take top 6 minutes and not produce…

It was a good game against a tough team and the winning goal went off a dudes face, so yes, the sky isn’t falling, I do think we got a glimpse of what the 1st line will be up against in the playoffs as Carolina made a point to shut them down, thankfully we got 2 goals from the 4th line which looked really good last night…Maybe Lou is on Leopold’s plane right now to pick up Marat, it feels like the bottom 9 could use an infusion of new talent because it’s got pretty stale…

Not the last time it will be said this season, but the Nashville game kinda feels like a must win…funny that we are playing them on the road while they have a 6 game winning streak again, hopefully we get the same result as last time…

Here’s the even strength time on ice last night. Who is the 2nd line? Right now this team has a 1st line and a bottom 9. Been that way for a few games now. I get that it’s fun to gripe over the lines that Russo posts before each game but watch the ice time at the end of each game and it looks about like this every time, only with 38 usually getting more minutes.

You can and should juggle players in/out of your bottom 6 but not your second line…

Has Billy G called you yet? I mean someone better let Hynes know he’s doing it wrong.

    Tell that to Nino.

    That’s the joke hah

Apparently #pissmissile and the Wild are breaking that rule though

PWHL has some good rule changes they implemented that the NHL should look into:

The 1st being the “If you score a SH goal, it eliminates your penalty”

The 2nd being, Assign the first pick in the PWHL Draft to the non-playoff team that accrues the most points following its elimination from playoff contention – assuring that the teams’ remaining games will be competitively meaningful.

Per Russo, Marat is signed to the max ELC contract…this should make Yurov’s decision a little easier as he can see the Wild will likely offer the max they can under ELC rules…so it’s not about the money if he does/doesn’t want to come over…

it would be really cool to have Kirill be the translator for Marat’s first few interviews…as far as I know, he can’t speak a word of English (I’ve never heard him speak it in any interview or video clip)

Next two games against Nashville and St Louis will be pivotal in determining if this team can stay in the playoff hunt. These are two teams they are directly competing against for that 8 hole.

Every single prospect with any NHL potential gets the max ELC salary and signing bonus, and Khusnutdinov got that. Salary of $925k which includes max 10% signing bonus. Performance bonuses are the wild card, and he’s not getting any this year. Russo says there is some included next year but exact amount not known. The max is $3.5m for ELC performance bonuses and my guess is he’ll get around $500k.

Edit: Just saw it posted that he got $850k in p. bonuses next season

So the Devils just used LTIR space to broker 25% of Tanev’s caphit in the Calgary/Dallas trade, so I guess its allowed… The Wild should use the LTIR capspace Spurgeon gave them if they dont buy at the deadline…

Really excited to have Marat signed and hopefully getting ice time soon. Talking about the prospect pool only feeds the bulldog for so long when the team is in again out again in again when it comes to the playoff picture.

Also, I feel like whatever the mental issues somebody in the Wild front office had with drafting and then dealing with Russian players, we are now past it.

I think the whole idea around drafting Russians is overblown IF you’re willing to accept not getting them until they are 21-22 years old and not having much input on how they develop…I can’t think of any TOP prospect who didn’t eventually make it over to their NHL team and instead chose to stay in Russia? Of course there are a few examples like Firstov, but I don’t think he would be considered a top prospect…

Mid-level prospects probably just feel playing in the KHL is better or isn’t any different than in the AHL, so why go…

no surprise that the Buffalo Sabres had the #1 prospect pool, they are just stacked with top talent…

Chances GMBG moves GusBus if he gets a good offer at the deadline?

It would allow them to bring up Wallstedt for the rest of the season and GMBG has quite the track record finding under the radar goalies to replace him next year if Flower retires, he’d probably even save some capspace…

Hypothetical – Devils offer Alexander Holtz and a mid-round future pick for GusBus… I’d be all over that trade…Holtz is finally playing like a #7 overall pick but he’s likely relegated to their bottom 6 due to the long term contracts they’ve already signed, he’d fill a huge gap the Wild has in terms of RH Wing Shooter/scorer…I think he’s poised to take off if given the opportunity…

I realize the Devils are fighting for a Wildcard spot, but that team has alot of pressure to make the playoffs and I think would be willing to buy at the deadline…

I think if a couple goalies (Markstrom/Gibson) don’t end up moving for whatever reasons, then the market would get tight and overpays could happen…
