it’s likely just the unofficial guaranteed NHL roster spot agreement that’s holding up him signing with the Wild, that’s really all that’s available to negotiate with…The ELC money is what it is…Wild would ecstatic to pay out any performance bonuses he reaches…

Him staying in the KHL another year makes no hockey sense, what else is there for him to prove/do in that league? getting better at playing center and taking faceoffs? He’s not lacking confidence, he’s about the break the 20 year old scoring record…

Maybe he doesn’t feel he can beat out mojo. whistling
Wonder if BG wishes he had his contract negotiate guy around and maybe it wouldn’t be so “confusing.”

The money part is actually the easy part, the ELC is already predefined by the NHL Collective Bargaining agreement, it’s just the signing bonus and performance bonuses that are negotiable, and those are capped by the NHL. Kinda surprised the max signing bonus and performance bonuses aren’t part of every 1st rounder’s ELC, you’re happy to pay them out if the player hits them…

I can’t remember if Yurov is represented by an American agent/agency or a Russian one? If Russia, that’s likely where I’d guess the confusion is…i’m sure there’s some “Wild” things suggested in those negotiations based on how corrupt everything is in Russia…

Then why is it so confusing for him?

    He said it not me…
Does he need better Russian communication skills? Maybe Grit doesn’t translate well in Russian.

I only saw GMBG quoted as saying it was “complicated” but due to the NHL’s ELC rules, the contract can’t be complicated because it’s already set, so maybe that has to do with Mettelburg repeatedly upping their offers recently? Maybe SKA is getting involved with an offer?

GMBG can/probably already has presented Yurov with the contract, with the signing bonus and performances bonuses maxed out to the NHL limit, nothing else can be negotiated on it…

Maybe Yurov wants the handshake agreement that he won’t be sent down to Iowa? Maybe his agent wants a gym bag of cash to miraculously appear on his parents doorstep? who knows with Russians?

as mentioned, he apparently really wants to play in the NHL, well here’s his chance….

All you have to do is keep a good stock of solid Russian vodka on hand and he’ll sign…….That’s pretty standard for Russians.

This does not look promising. Canucks have 2 goals on 2 shots.

Quin Hughes is so fun to watch play hockey, he’s so unconventional for a defenseman… They need to dedicate a camera to just stay on his skates, its ridiculous the angle changes he makes…
