    it’s 3 friggin games…

That’s not even remotely true, it’s 145 minutes.

wtf did they do in the x number of minutes they must have been on the ice together before the last 3 game stretch they were put together on the 1st line?

IDK man it’s literally just comparing their full season stats to every other forward line in the league and that happens to be 145 minutes worth of time for that trio. You keep bringing up 3 games here or 2 games there but no one is cherry picking good/bad games, it’s the full season worth of their time together.

i’m just saying I can’t remember a time when those 3 played together, unless they start the “played with whom” stopwatch the second a PP/PK is over and those guys remain on the ice together?

Either way, there must not have been any success together otherwise the fanbase would have been up in arms on why they didn’t stay together…

You couldn’t remember when Kaprizov-Rossi-Boldy played together either but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen for 5 consecutive games. Every stat you don’t like needs to be discredited though right

Agree everyone gets way to bent out of shape over line combos. Hynes has mixed lines around a lot since being here, Deano was more this year than ever before too. Injuries playing a big role in that but previous years I think Dean stuck to the same lines way too much. Right now the 97-14-12 line is rolling and if they have a stale game or two then I’m all for switching it up. But now they’ve built some chemistry and it’s a weapon they can come back to and have confidence with it. Same for other combos getting some experience and chemistry together, like I think Jojo has played his best when paired with Rossi. Rossi and (oddly) Foligno have played well together. Rossi-Kaprizov-Zuccy have had spurts. Now when there’s injuries or they need to switch it up in a 7 game series, they can fall back on combos that already have some confidence and chemistry from playing well together previously this season.

When Deano tried to switch up lines in the playoffs (too late) it was a disaster because they played with the same guys the entire season and never built chemistry with anyone else. Line blender makes the team a hell of a lot harder to scout too.

I feel like you guys argue to just to argue lol

Team looks like they finally woke up. I remember someone crying on here about this certain string of games and now we magically won some! Crazy how that works.

The team is now sitting 3 points out of a wild card spot. Before yesterday’s win we had a projected 18.2% to end up in the ploffs. There’s certainly going to be a battle for the final 1/3 of the season, but if we keep playing anywhere near the level we’re currently playing at, I think we can sneak into the postseason.

Wishful thinking but if we get WC2, we end up playing Vancouver, who I don’t think is going to last long in the playoffs. We probably won’t be the ones to knock them out, but it’s nice to have a what-if scenario right?

Did you have them winning these games? I said the schedule this month is tough and it is… a week ago this team looked like it was ready for the golf season…

No points for Yurov today, I think he has 5 games left to break Terasenko’s record…

I don’t know, what is this their 3rd or 4th time this season where they play a spurt of good games and everybody says they turned it around and then they turn into Mr Hyde again and disappear for weeks??

They will hit a losing skid again I am sure, but now that they are mostly healthy I dont think they are going to lose a ton in a row again.

Chisholm will get his debut but they’re sitting Mermis?

As expected. Remember who is on the 1-way contract. Chisholm is a Mermis/Hunt replacement and Merrill is (unfortunately) still above both on the depth chart. Hope Chisholm never comes out of the lineup.

Sounds like Chisholm is running PP2

its strange that the Wild are so concerned that Merrill will get plucked off of waivers with an extra year on his deal…

That is exactly why I was thinking this was perplexing. They would be better off without him.

lol, I thought the same but remembered that alot gets lost in translation of these interviews…I think we’ll find out in 10 days with Marat possibly signing if there’s a MN perception issue or not…

Kinda surprised Kirill hasn’t texted him at all regarding him breaking Terasenko’s record…

No point throwing Merrill away until they’re forced to. Maybe a chance he gets claimed, he’s a 6’3″ defenseman and never been waived in his career. Mermis on the other hand been through waivers many many times and never been claimed.

Well considering he has been terrible and has another year on his contract Id be fine taking the chance.

Now we pay attention to size? )

You can find vet defenseman cheaper, Bogo is only $850k, Merrill is a creampuff 6’3″ giraffe…if he gets claimed you potentially save $300+k next season replacing him with a cheap Vet or an Iowa callup like Hunt…

I’m not professing my love for Jon Merrill, cripes. I’m just saying there’s no point throwing him away right now. If they’re ever up against the cap then yeah do it. But right now they gain nothing.

Now we pay attention to size?

Have I ever said NHL GMs don’t? They make the waiver claim, not me.

What do you mean no point right now? He has been terrible and they claimed this new guy they clearly dont need him.

I mean they’re not against the cap, they have plenty of space. So there’s no gain getting rid of him for nothing right now. I’m not saying they gain anything by keeping him, but they definitely gain nothing by getting rid of him right now. So why do it? Who knows, maybe in 3 weeks someone offers a 5th for Merrill, who knows.

It’s just like last week when you said get rid of Beckman because he got scratched. Why? Wild gain nothing getting rid of these guys.

I stated that for different reasons though because he deserves a shot. Not the same as Merrill.

I laugh that we are worried about Mermis a 30 year old AHL 7th d man.

Yup different reasons for throwing them away. And they gain nothing from getting rid of either. So why do it?

It’s the armchair GM thing where if they actually got rid of a guy every time a fan said “this guy sucks, get rid of him” they’d have no one on the team by the all-star break.

Im not at all worried about Mermis but he has been playing well. The other guy, not so much.
