once you get past the first line in Iowa, you’re scraping the barrel of talent…this was supposed to be the year to develop the young Defense core (O’Rourke, Hunt, Lambos, Spacek, Masters) that all started their pro careers together in the last 2 years and then the offensive guys would be coming next 2 seasons (Marat K, Ohgren, Haight) next year and then the following year (Heidt, Kumpelianen, Stramel)…I think most Wild brass would agree this year in Iowa has been a train wreck (mostly due to Wild injury callups depleting the Iowa lineup so much, so often) but the young D have struggled quite a bit…hopefully its just growing pains…
With Hunt looking like a capable part of a Wild 3rd D pair next year and Lambos the only other D prospect with a likely NHL future, it kind of points to having more of a Defense focus this draft…Need to find guys who can be ready when Spurgeon and Brodin are done…
