This looks legitimately fun to watch. Also helps they had legends like Jagr vs. Brodeur, and Lindros and Selanne vs. Hasek. FFWD to 2024 and we’ll get Boone Jenner vs. Cam Talbot and Frank Vatrano vs. Alexander Georgiev

Oh man I missed a whole page and a half.

You didn’t miss much. Basically two people arguing with each other. smash

There’s no games right now so something has to fill the void. Neck guards are old news already.

The Athletic polled nearly 200 NHL players anonymously to get their answers to some questions around the league.
    Poll Result Winners:
    • Best Player — Connor McDavid
    • Best Goalie – Andrei Vasilevskiy
    • Most Underrated Player — Aleksander Barkov
    • Most Overrated Player – Trevor Zegras
    • Most Punchable Face – Nick Cousins
    • Best Ref – Wes McCauley
    • Worst Ref — Justin St Pierre
    • Best Jerseys — Chicago Blackhawks
    • Favorite Road City to Play in – Las Vegas
    • Least Favorite Road City to Play in – Winnipeg

I wonder if Ek was top 5 in punchable face?

Shrooms probably helped just to get through it… what a gongshow the NHL is… just give all creative responsibilities to TNT to promote the game and players…

Monahan to the Jets for a 1st and conditional 3rd… Jets get a sniff and go all in on a rental who can never stay healthy…I expect the Jets to come back to earth the last 30+ games and just make it into the playoffs…

I hate the NHL and Gary for using the Olympics as leverage against the players, such BS. Agree Russia needs to be allowed in, but there’s no chance it happens.

Centers are in massive demand, Hartman would have fetched a 1st+ for sure. Personally, I’m glad they extended him instead. Downside here is the Habs and Flames are both chasing the Wild for a top 5 pick.

I think most hockey fans would like to see NHL players in the Olympics, me included. What I do not care for is halting the NHL season for a month while its going, which extends the season into May, and the playoffs to July. The percentage of players that need to leave the NHL to compete in the Olympics is very small; therefore 95% of them are still there. Keep the league going and call up players if you need to.

Russia will not be participating as “Russia.” Their players might be there, but they will not be known as Team Russia. I think their official name is currently ROC – Russian Olympic Committee.

Yeah that would be fair. (Sarcasm) I am sure the fans from a team like Edmonton would be thrilled having their team play meaningful games without McDavid and King Leon. Or Colorado playing without McKinnon Rantenan and Makar.

No chance owners would want their teams to play shorthanded.

I wasn’t being sarcastic. Delaying games by a month is bush league. We don’t need playoff hockey in July again. Keep the games as scheduled and keep players on the NHL roster, or adjust properly. One or two players (or none) from an NHL roster is not worth halting the entire schedule. Its not like anyone is going to be missing half their roster for the Olympics.

And yet the owners are OK having a star player participate in the Olympics which risks a season ending injury? Ya, that makes total sense too (sarcasm).

I dont think they are “ok” with it, but its good for the game and rarely does anyone get hurt in the olympics. Yes, it has happened, I forget who the last one was which sucks, but they could just as easily get hurt in regular season games or heck even preseason which are meaningless.

No just their top 2-3 scorers no big deal. Colorado would be missing over one third of their points produced.

Yeah, the Wild would likely be out Ek, KK, Brodin, Faber and possibly Wallstedt. Not going to happen.

But they aren’t going anywhere with the Wild, so that’s irrelevant. rotflol

The olympic break will be 2-3 weeks, not a month. This all star break is 10 days. So for Olympics vs. ASG it’s a whopping 1 extra week. Why do you hate fun so much?
