Here is a Ne buck standing right in front of the tree I will hang my sticks and alone wolf on Sept 1st. Just need a southerly wind to hunt it now.

August 25, 2022 at 11:32 am #2143523I don’t think he’s that old, maybe 4 1/2 but I’m terrible at guessing age.
I’m pretty sure if I saw it, I’m shootin!
Good luck!August 25, 2022 at 11:36 am #2143525Anybody on here good at aging deer on the hoof? I have a good one who keeps showing up every few days but still don’t know if he is mature. 3 1/2 or 4 1/2, what do you think? He could be a freak next year..
I’m not an expert either, but I think you are correct 3.5 or 4.5 years old and probably would be ridiculous next year…but I’d have a hard time passing on him this year!
August 25, 2022 at 11:51 am #2143529Nice but not huge. Nice to see at 1 o’clock in the afternoon

I would agree with this 100%
Michael BestPosts: 1235August 30, 2022 at 7:17 am #2144294I have a harder time judging in the summer. Have seen mature deer that look pretty skinny in the summer.
Look for a sway back, legs appear to be short for the body and a shorter face. Those are all signs of a mature deer that is 5.5 plus in age.
My guess is that deer is 4.5.
August 31, 2022 at 2:05 pm #2144644Saw a buck this morning shedding its velvet. It was small and nowhere near my house, so no pic (Jeremy ).

If it was small I dont need to know.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23371August 31, 2022 at 3:15 pm #2144675This little guy keeps showing up.
Needs another year…but then he will be the same size as when you google’d him this year!

First hard horn showed up last night and I’m guessing the rest won’t be too far behind!

I’m thinking you are right. Wife says if he walks by her, she is sticking him. I think I’m giving him a pass this year. He was still in velvet 2 nights ago but starting to peel. Can’t wait to get in the tree again!
September 28, 2022 at 1:05 pm #2149201Everyone must be keeping their big deer quiet this year or not getting any pics.
Here is one of the better deer I have roaming around.Attachments:
September 28, 2022 at 1:40 pm #2149209All my big deer and pretty much everything else vanished. All ive seen lately when i go to check my cameras is very large foot prints of the human variety. They seem to avoid my camera very well gonna put up a different angle one tomorrow to figure out what the heck is going on.
