Anyone catch the ref physically pulling the holder away so the kicker couldn’t get a practice kick when the Chargers called a TO to do the proverbial overplayed “ice the kicker?” WTF was that BS? I’ve NEVER seen a ref try so hard and get physically involved in that situation.
I saw that and said something to the wife about it. Was akward for sure.
The Ref crew in the Jags/Chargers game just weren’t very good. The only bright side is that they blew calls on both sides pretty equally. Bosa getting ejected for letting his emotions get the best of him two times when the Officials missed penalties is especially brutal. For the second one watching in real-time, it was apparent to me that there was movement before the snap. I just wasn’t sure who initiated it. On replay, the tackle clearly shifted his foot causing Bosa to react just as the ball was being snapped.
Mr Irrelevant is anything but . . IF the Vikings win they have no chance against SF! NONE!
Yes, that’s correct. As I stated a month ago, they could win a home game in the wild card round, but beyond that is where their season will end against a vastly superior opponent on the road.
Nice win for the Jags. Think they are a team on the rise, but they will not beat KC at Arrowhead.

well,,,,,i sure hope we are both wrong!!!!!!!

I agree. Honestly if its a competitive game, that would probably be a moral victory. Gotta beat the G men first though.
Purdy looks legit. San Fran will have a QB decision (or two) on their hands next year.
Yeah what a strange situation in SF. The 3 best playoff performances in 9ers history go Joe Montana, Joe Montana, then Brock Purdy. How many times does a team have a decent starting QB and 2 more you could get something for in a trade?
I thought the Bills may be the team to beat. After watching the game against Miami I am beginning to wonder. Miami QB play was not good at all. If they had Tua I think it would have been a different outcome. Maybe just a bad game from the Bills. Time will tell.
Bengals/Bills 2.0 next weekend.
The NFL has also announced that if the Chiefs beat the Jags, the AFC Championship will be held in Atlanta. Initially they wanted to play it in Indianapolis, but there is another conflict there already.
McCarthy, Barr, and Rhodes move on. Good! They are the team I am rooting for now in the NFC. I always thought McCarthy was a solid coach and got done dirty by the Pack and their crap fan base that doesn’t recognize a good thing when they’ve got it. I am equally loyal to Zimmer; screw the haters. Yesterday’s D performance was a true disgrace. A healthy D-fence that doesn’t hit? Zim wouldn’t stand for it. It is one thing to get beat. It is a whole other thing to get beat because you are soft. Unless Kwesi is a genius, I expect a short coaching run for KOC.

McCarthy is not a good coach, and single handedly gave the Seahawks the epic meltdown game with his terrible decisions, along with wasting a majority of A-Rodg’s prime. And while I liked Zimmer, go look at his defenses at the end of his career here, especially with the draft capital that was spent on the secondary. His time had come.
That Dallas team playing last night looked like the one that destroyed the Vikes earlier. A beast of a defense and a multi-faceted offense that is tough to defend on every level. They were also aided by the zebras quite a bit too, probably wouldn’t have made a difference but there were about 5 obvious calls that all went against the Bucs.
I dont know if Dallas is going to get past the Niners. That defense is ridiculously good. I agree on Zimmer’s defense at the end of his tenure here. The first years were great, but really fell off. They always had tons of penalties too.

I agree, they seem to either play a bit of a dud or they look like they can compete for a super bowl. If they play like they did last night, they can beat the 49ers. The 49ers have not played a team as good as the Cowboys on paper in over 2 months. The last high quality team they played was KC, and they got beat badly. That was with Garrapolo at QB.

McCarthy isn’t terrible, but they shouldn’t be building statues of him either. He’s the perfect guy for Dallas as he has experience managing talented teams but is also a built-in scapegoat if things go bad in the playoffs and is expendable for Jerry Jones. Jones doesn’t want a hard-nosed no BS type guy in that position. It has to be someone who he can indirectly threaten to take their job from week to week. That model has made for some very talented, flashy regular season teams that seemingly falter when the going gets tough. It will be interesting to see if history repeats itself.
Over the last 20 years if Dallas had a Mike Tomlin, Harbaugh, Andy Reid, or McDermott type coach who was too big or accomplished to always be looking over their shoulder…I think there would be more banners.
The Buc’s really crapped the bed last night. I really thought they would play a good game. Sad to see Brady go out this way if it’s his last game. I really don’t think his skill level fell off much this season. Just way to many other issues going on around him. The Dallas team we saw last night and the against the Vikings is scary. I just don’t think they can put together enough good games in a row to win this years SB. They are a little like the Viking in you never know what team is going to show up. The only difference is that they don’t have a Horrible Def.
Unless Kwesi is a genius, I expect a short coaching run for KOC.
You expect that a head coach who went 13-4 in his first year, has the players respect and had good locker room, unlocked some of the best Cousins and Jefferson had, and had a first competitive playoff game to have a short coaching run?!?
Sorry I don’t see your logic there. KOC inherited a crap defense.

Yeah, I dont see the logic in that either. Offensively this team was very good overall. Defensively they were very bad. Hard to overcome that.

Its really not any different than the past few years of the Zimmer era though. The only difference is that this season they were able to win an historic amount of close games (until Sunday). The defense had been atrocious for several years under the Zimmer regime, and the offense has been very good during that same span.
I don’t foresee Thielen returning at 19 million. Osborne can replace him. Other than that, having Cousins, Cook, JJ, and Hockenson is a pretty potent offense in itself, assuming the O line is still viable.

Thielen is definitely a cut candidate if he won’t rework his contract. Kendricks and Harrison Smith are as well. Kendricks is still solid, but counts 9.5 million against the cap. Harrison Smith is still good, but clearly is not having the wholesale impact he used to. They could save about 7.5 million by sending him packing.
Bradbury is a free agent, and has not ever been an anchor in the middle…but has started since Day 1. I think he’s likely gone as well considering the Vikings are projected to be in a hard spot with the salary cap. Irv Smith should not be offered much of a contract either regardless of being a high draft pick.
It will be interesting to see what they can do with the tough cap situation AND limited draft capital compared to other years. I’d expect their offense to run back almost the exact same unit minus Thielen, Bradbury. The defense could (and should) look completely different.
I think Thielen may be back with a largely reduced pay. Harrison Smith will be back as I don’t think they can afford to pay him $11M not to play here…Bradbury and Irv are both gone imo, and Cook likely too.

You know how many little decisions go into all these games? Coaching was a big reason we won all those close games this year. Zimmer had a knack of relying on a crappy defense and playing not-to-lose which usually lost the game.

I agree, I also think the players really didn’t want to play for the Zimmer regime anymore. Clearly him and Cousins seemed to always clash too.

I’ll gladly eat my words if I’m wrong. The outcome of the playoff game cemented my conviction that firing Zim, coming off two injury-plagued seasons, was a mistake. Those who said to blow up the team last year when the season ended were clueless. All the team needed was a slightly more stout defense. I believe Zim would have delivered that; instead, the D got worse except in turnovers. The competition the team faced in Zimmer’s final year was heads and shoulders above this year’s season of cupcakes, with the exception of the Bills; That win was an impressive mirage. KOC is the true Coach Smoke and Mirrors. The Playoffs are the Final Exam, and KOC’s coaching earned him an F in my classroom. He flat-out got outcoached. That is worrisome. “Competitive” umm, no. Vikes got put in their place quickly with the strategic blunder of passing to Cousins on third and short. That play ended the Viking’s chances. The Giants from then on had the advantage and played it until we were defeated. Other coaches now have a year of tape, and we have a 1st Place schedule next year. Kwesi has his work cut out for him, that is for sure.
The only thing I agree with in your whole post is Kwesi has his work cut out for him.
You don’t really believe all that do you?

Yes, he does. He also stated that the Seahawks would be competitive in SF, and they were for about 17 minutes. Hasn’t said a word about it since.
He is accurate when he says the defense really did not improve though. The only statistical category was turnovers. Overall, they were ranked at or near the bottom the past 2-3 seasons under Zimmer. This year they were ranked 31st overall, out of 32 teams. I do think the team clearly responded better to a coach like KOC though, rather than the fear-based old school style of the Zimmer era the past couple seasons.
Average ticket prices for the Cowobys-49ers game on Sunday are almost 1500 bucks.
By comparison, the average ticket price for the Jags/Chiefs are 145 dollars, and the average ticket price for the Bengals/Bills are 165.
I realize that the Bay Area is an expensive place to live, but even that seems ridiculous. Maybe the large contingent of Dallas fans are driving it up too.
