Well, well, well. Fiala makes it interesting at 4-6.
Was just about to post, has anyone seen Kevin?
Stands looked empty after the 2nd.
Wild we’re awful the rest of it was awesome. I didn’t like the unis when I first saw them when they unveiled them but tonight they looked awesome.
First base side wind blown side was definitely emptying quickly.
Lots of blues fans there.
Not playing a game for 13 days and 3 key guys out. It showed.
I’m finally thawed out after 5+ hours outside at the Classic. Awesome event! Awesome atmosphere!
Now for the game, the Wild looked like a team thats only been skating at 50% effort in practice the past 10+ days… they couldn’t make a simple breakout pass the 1st two periods… other than Kaprizov (who was electric), Dumba and Duhaime everyone else was in slow motion…Our defense was terrible all night, turnover after turnover… thankfully Brodin should be back next game…
They need to figure this out. Five games in a row of being out hustled is not what this team looked like they were. Last night was tough because of the cold but the blues sure didn’t get slowed down by it.
I think once they get back to a little bit of schedule normalcy they’ll get back to how they were playing before the losing streak.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see a Rossi callup this week, perhaps he can inject some life into the offense besides the Kaprizov line which is on fire right now.
The other thing in last nights game that was very obvious is that Freddy Goudrea has no business being on the top 3 lines, he’s a borderline 4th liner, wouldn’t surprise me to see him watch a game in the pressbox soon (although Evason seems to think he can do no wrong)
Brodin & Spurgeon are the keys to this team’s success, they can get by if one of them are out, but not both…
Russo Brought up a good point about how ridiculous it was that goudreau being on the pp instead of someone like pitlick and the fact that addison wasnt on it either…..also maybe Kappo can keep playing fairly strong in Talbots absence.
What was the deal with the outside of the boards? Looked like OSB. Was that intentional to make it look like a backyard rink?
They did everything right except those boards. Looked horrible to me. Pretty tacky..
Though Talbot hasn’t been playing the best lately it won’t be ideal if he’s out long. The defense was horrid all night.

As long as there is Covid and Canada there will be no normalcy to the schedule. It’s going to be steady by jerks going forward. I wasn’t expecting the Wild to keep the pace they were at but I didn’t expect this hard of a crash either. With the injuries it may be difficult to turn things around to quickly. KK is getting dinged up. He looked pretty shaken up after that awkward hit into the boards.
All things considered I don’t see how BG can keep Rossi and Boldy buried in the AHL. Be interesting to see how BG will handle it if Rossi performs up here like he is currently in the AHL. That’s probably the exact situation BG wants to avoid.

It 100% is what he wants to avoid. I think they will give him a few games soon with Ek out, but really doubt he is going to burn that first year. He is going to need it bad going forward.
One thing i’ve noticed with Kaprizov is that he’s kind of a drama queen when he gets hit, he’ll act like he’s terribly hurt, but he’ll always be back out for the next shift…
“Russian strong! Built like Tank”
Hammond called up, Addison sent back down. He will likely be back with the injuries likely just sent down to get Iowa games. I think all these postponements are actually going to help the Wild. Sheesh, the wheels fell off quick after that great run. And now Greenway in Covid protocol.

Go to the 8:05 mark, turn up the volume to hear Russo’s question, and then enjoy Deano’s guilty, giddy, sheepish grin… Fans may be getting their wish soon.
Not surprised, it was always in the plans to bring Boldy up this year, but he kept getting hurt, Rossi was always going to get his 9 games, it just makes more sense now with Ek out and they then have the excuse of “He now knows what he has to work on for his NHL future” when they send him back to Iowa after game 9. It also removes any drama of him playing at the end of the year and then removed from the team right before the playoffs…
Something to keep an eye on towards the end of the season is what the Wild do with Boston College Senior Jack McBain or more appropriatly what Jack McBain does…The Wild drafted him many years ago but never signed him, so he will have the opportunity to decline signing with the Wild and become a UFA when his season is done at BC.
He’s 6’4″ 220 lb Center (he’s huge!) who can skate and is finally showing his offensive potential this season with 13 goals, 24 points in only 18 games sofar, that puts him in top10 scoring in the nation with far fewer games played…So he looks like a late bloomer that could look awesome playing 3rd/4th line center for the Wild next year…Will GMBG be able to convince him to sign with the Wild vs see what offers come from 31 other teams? Could he be a much cheaper replacement for Nico Sturm? GMBG likely talked to him about it when he went to watch a BC weekend series a few weeks ago…
Stay tuned!
Deano just CONFIRMED BOTH Rossi and Boldy have been called up to the Wild, expect them to suit up Thursday against the Bruins! Exciting times to get a glimpse of the future…

Agreed he would be a great replacement for Nico Sturn since I doubt we will be able to resign him without other players swapping out.

Im not going to be able to sleep! I hope Rossi’s parents can get to Boston to see him.
Why not put both Boldy and Rossi with Fiala? (i’m sure Deano and group will want to break them in slowly) but putting them on the 3rd or 4th line doesn’t make much sense since we already have guys for those roles…
Kaprizov – Hartman – Zuc
Boldy – Rossi – Fiala
Foligno – Sturm/Gudreau – Duhaime
Rask/Pitlick – Gudreau/Sturm – Bjugstad

I think it makes the most sense to put Boldy and Rossi with Fiala. I wouldnt touch the Kaprizov line. Theyve been producing consistently. Fiala must think its Christmas morning if he gets boldy and Rossi! Id like to sit both Gaudreau and Rask but we cant.

Of course! I’m heading for Devils Lake Thursday but will be there before puck drop. Don’t know if the house we are staying in has cable or if they get ESPN. Proz’s sports bar will have the game for sure so I have options at least!
I’m not expecting either of these two to be lighting it up Thursday night. I’m sure they will have the jitters and playing with players they are unfamiliar with not to mention the Wild themselves are rusty having not played for five days again. Boston on the other hand will have played three games in five days before they play the Wild having won two of those already I’m guessing they will be sharper come Thursday.
i’m lowering my expectations as well, for all we know they could both be put on the 4th line and get like 6-8 minutes of icetime..
Biggest question – Do the BOTH get solo laps around the ice for warmups?
Super happy for Marco! a little more than a year to the day he found out he had myocarditis!

They have Rossi with Moose and Fiala. I dont mind that. Having Boldy instead of Moose would be fun, but its probably safer at least on the road to put Moose there. I doubt they shelter these guys. They really want to see what they can do. Boldy set up a Pitlick breakaway in the simulated game they are doing now which he of course scored on.
But is it really a “solo” lap if there’s two rookies out there? Ha it actually already happened this year, Dewar shared his solo lap with that Iowa defenseman from Grand Forks who’s name I already forgot.
Rossi is centering Fiala and Moose.
Boldy with some combination of Freddy/Duhaime/Pitlick

Call it a duel!
Rossi on PP 1. Working the point whoa nelly!
