Totally agree. The Canadian teams are not coming south until according to the league after Christmas at least. Can’t see the Winnipeg game happening.

After the winter classic who knows.

Kaapo should start the 2nd period. Cam looks very off tonight, even on the saves he made. Team is playing good enough to win, don’t let the goalie lose it for them.

Edit: this reverse jinx better work.

Jordie Benn just stopped Jamie Benn from fighting Foligno. I hope he’s scratched the rest of the season.

FYI…protecting winter classic. Lots of money invested.

This team needs the break really badly. Defense looks as bad as it has all year. Cam is off again, people hurt…just an awful game.

Hearing Olympics are out the February break will be used to make up Covid games. Only thing that makes sense really.

Not me I was reaching for the remote with a minute left. Please tell me Gigi didn’t try to sing! doah Don’t sound good for Ek. My guess is a dislocated shoulder. Hopefully not a fractured collarbone. I agree with Walz I didn’t see anything malicious about the play. It was a awkward hit for Ek.

At least the goals are starting to come for Fiala. Crossbar away from a hat trick last night. Talbot. Ugh.

The other issue is that they were going to pause the NHL schedule for 3 weeks during the Olympics, which was going to extend the regular season and playoffs into July, originally. Now with games being postponed, they weren’t sure when the season would end (sometime in the middle of summer), leaving a short window of off-season before next September and the start of the 2022-2023 season. I would prefer to see NHL players in the Olympics, but not at the cost of playing NHL hockey until August 1 this summer.

Nope! It was Audra making cats scream and Gigi tickling the ivories!!!! Incredible entertainment! I’m starting to wonder what dirt they have on the Bally execs with all the things they are letting them do…….

Why did they do that? I still had the TV on but wasn’t paying attention and all the sudden Audra Martin is singing Christmas music with Gigi on the keyboard. They weren’t bad at all, it was more just like WTF is this happening.

Cam’s been great lately, really really good the last 10 or so games. But he lost them that game last night – was reminiscent of the bad Dubnyk years where he just killed every bit of momentum with soft goals.

Thoughts on Deano pulling the goalie with half the 3rd period left to play… I love it. whistling

Exactly, it wasn’t terrible, it was just so random I couldn’t stop laughing.

Audra is a very talented singer. She has actually sung the National Anthem at Twins games before. She has the chops for sure. I missed the whole thing, but have it DVRd. Completely missed the Ek injury, but everything Ive read is it doesnt look good and with Spurgeon already out two of our most consistent players out longer term. It would suck to see them miss the Winter Classic for how much they mean to this team.

Wish I would have watched those two, switched over to the Queens instead at my kids’ insistence. Not a great Wild game but Cam was off. I love Deano’s approach. 9 minutes left – why the hell not?!

The good thing about any injury right now is there’s a large chunk of downtime to heal up without missing alot of games. Fiala’s recent scoring & Eks injury might speed up a move to get a center, this also sets up a perfect time to give Rossi his 9 NHL games while Ek is out… I agree the Ek hit wasn’t dirty at all, just awkward with alot of weight pushing him into the boards…my guess is either a separated shoulder or broken collar bone…Cam needs to be alot better though, that was probably his worst game of the year…

From ESPN. There is only one player who is not vaccinated in the NHL. More than 15% of the league’s players were in virus protocols as of Monday night.

The one player is Tyler Bertuzzi, who did get infected a month or so ago…The next important stat is to find out the % of NHL players/staff that are boosted, the science points to hardly any protection from INFECTION after 6+ months of your 2nd shot (especially for J&J which I know alot of NHLers got due to the 1 shot convienance)..The Wild recently released that most, if not all players and staff got their booster over a month ago, this is likely why they are not having the positive infections everyone else is right now…

It would also be nice to know the % of positive cases that are Delta or Omicron variant, if Delta infections, then it’s likely waning immunity from older vaccinations or there’s just something with the sport of hockey that makes it more condusive to getting infected. If Omicron cases, then it’s a combo of not being boosted & Omicon just being so much more contagous…it sux either way, I would just like to know as I find the science of all of this mess so interesting…

I’d be interested in knowing how many of these players are symptomatic enough that it would prevent them from playing? Are we locking the league because of a positive test which could be a false positive or exposure to a positive test person? I still feel they should go the way the NFL has and not test asymptomatic players. If they have symptoms sure test them.

I don’t want to sideline this thread on hockey, but the CDC reported that 73% of the confirmed infections during the past 7 days are omicron. Just last week, only 3% were omicron. In just one week, omicron has completely taken over delta. I have to think that the pro leagues that are all dealing with large numbers of positives are almost all omicron, just like the rest of the general public.

I agree, just interesting I haven’t heard Omicron mentioned once by any of the NHL clubs? You would think the NHL would fit the bill to have the genome sequencing done early on right?

    He’s not snakebit. He’s a late starter.

Freaking dumpster fire of a game. Only thing good about it was no Gigi in the booth.

I agree and would also say it was nice the see Kaprizov’s line get going again…they had a few games where they looked lost…hopefully they heal up during the break and we get a great Winter Classic!

The way its going I hope they at least have it. Man that would really suck to miss 2 years. They have some really cool things planned I guess it would be a real shame if they couldnt do it.

My guess is the NHL cancels the Winnipeg game on the 27th in an effort to do WHAT THEY CAN to ensure the Wild are healthy to play, obviously what happens when the players go home is upto them… The Blues have 2 games on 12/27 & 12/29 but at least they are home games so they won’t be traveling…

The NHL is spending millions of dollars to get the rink and everything else ready, so to postpone a few games is a cheap insurance, again, they will do what they can control, the rest is upto the players…

I completely agree with what the NFL is doing. Stop testing professional athletes who aren’t sick.

But unfortunately for the NHL there’s a 5,000 mile long road block in the way of that plan… the US-Canada Border.

So the NHL has officially pulled the plug on the Olympics.

I really feel bad for the players, and not just the small percentage of players who would be going. The NHLPA gave up a ton of leverage in the CBA negotiations in order to go to the Olympics and now they got the rug pulled right out from under them.

I understand why owners don’t want NHL players in the Olympics but I also think they’re ruthless a-holes for using it so heavily against them in CBA negotiations. Seriously, how many employers world wide have a clause that says their employees can’t participate in the freaking Olympics?

I hope they do NOT cancel the Winnipeg game, That is the only game the Wild would play between now and the winter classic. They came out flat after a few extra off days, it would suck for them to do it on the biggest game to be played outside of the playoffs.
