Just found out my buddy’s son AND daughter will be playing for Team USA in the upcoming WJC (mens in Canada, womens in Sweden). What an honor for those two. Wyatt on the U20 and Maddie on U18. Will be fun to watch them.

Is that who manages the PP? It is really frustrating. They move it slow enough for my wife to keep up with – just playing catch at that speed does NOTJHING.

No, it’s Brett Mclean. Agree the PP isn’t great, but they’ve been scoring lately and we don’t ask how, we ask how many. Law of averages says the fluky goals or jam it home EK goals make up for all the times Fiala hits the post or a goalie robs someone else. Just seems like a weird thing to complain about when their 5v5 defense has fallen off a cliff. Even the end of the winning streak, they were giving up chances like crazy but Cam’s been playing outstanding.

Very cool, maybe they can be the next Kessel Family
The conference standings have surely tightened up. We knew they would as teams caught up in games played, but the lead is down to 3 pts. The Preds have come out of nowhere.

But wait, it gets worse. She “retired” from the women’s Olympic team as well. I’m not sure if that’s really a thing, is it that she didn’t make the team or does one really “retire”?
Anyway, this is bad on two fronts. First, there’s no chance of a merciful break from GigiBabble in the month or so before the Olympics when, presumably, she’d be with the team full time.
And secondly, there’s no chance that the Chinese would somehow be so enamored with Her Babbleness that they’d keep her.
Keep your fingers firmly on the mute button.

Blues are right there with the Preds and Colorado one point behind them. There are going to be ups and downs with all the teams throughout the season. The Wild just happen to hit a stumbling block while the other teams are on the upswing. Unfortunately this season is going to be a lot like playing the roll of the Covid dice. Which players are out when you play what teams added in amongst routine injuries. This can decimate some teams for a string of games while others go virtually unscathed. Yes all teams are dealing with it but it’s still a random imbalance.
I wonder how Winnipeg will respond to Maurice resigning. Usually a team gets a boost from a new coach but this is a little different considering their coach straight up quit on them mid-season. I see them battling with Dallas and Nashville for the Wild Card slots. And if the Ducks continue their out of body experience there may only be one Wild Card team outta the Central this year.
I’m sure coach Quenneville stands ready to take the helm of the Jets. Or is Bettman going to make him stand in the corner a little longer?
Blues and Wild players better live in a bubble until after the Winter Classic!

Also sounds like Spurge may not be healthy if the game is played. What a disaster this is coming to with all the Covid and nearly every single player vaccinated. What is there one or two in the NHL that isnt? Bertuzzi and that prick DeAngelo?

I thought it was four players in total that didn’t get the jab. Have any of them tested positive? As long as they keep testing totally asympotomatic and otherwise perfectly healthy players this will continue. Sucks Spurgeon will miss the Winter Classic I’m sure that was pretty important to him.

Could have been 4, but those two are the only ones I have heard about. I dont know how it makes sense to test these guys if they are asymptomatic. By all accounts if you are asymptomatic the chance of you spreading it are very very low from what I have seen. The problem with testing them as well as there is a good chance you are going to get a number of false positives.

Can’t see why Bettman would. It’s clear he doesn’t think Quinville (or the Blackhawks management for that matter) did anything wrong.
Russo tweeting tomorrows game is cancelled
Just got a text from the Wild as I had tickets for the game. The game is postponed, not canceled, however. Or so they say.
They just shut the Panthers and the Avalanche down through the holiday break.
Bertuzzi is the only active player and he was recently on the covid protocol list, maybe still is IDK. Deangelo is vaxed, has been all season as he played in MTL 3rd game of the season. Brainerd alum Josh Archibald wasn’t but he’s out for the season with myocarditus. Mackenzie Blackwood wasn’t to start the season but I believe he got it with hopes of playing in the Olympics. Not sure about E-Kane with the whole falsified card, but he must be since he’s playing home games in the AHL now.
Crazy how everything really blew up this week!
Friggin RObot crap…….

Not complaining about our boys – been on their bandwagon all season, THey are good., they are fun, they paly as a team. PK is great PP not so great and how can they improve?
Fiala will come around. It’s a long season, our peaks were someone else’s valleys and vice versa. Stay out of the box, stay healthy and we’ll be playing long into the postseason. Cam has been PHENOMENAL.. GO WILD!!!

Kane did get vaccinated. Well at least presented paperwork that said he did.
E Kane tried to pass off a fake vax card? I must have missed that!
Yeah he’s played his last NHL game!
Interesting Tweet by Russo.
There is no backup plan for the Winter Classic and neither the Wild or Blues will be subject to any quarantines to make certain event gets off w/o a hitch other than "both (teams) will be subject to enhanced protocols once they are issued” to all NHL teams soon.

So the Wild or Blues will not be subject to any quarantines to make certain the game actually happens? But will be subject to “enhanced” protocols when they are issued to all teams soon. Don’t know how much tighter these protocols can be. Sounds like they are going to lock players in a closet except for hockey related activities. Fun times!
I find it hard to believe the NHL is going to spend the millions of dollars putting a rink in Target field (it’s being built right now) and not put some assurances in place that the game will take place. My guess is word got back to the Wild and Blues to do what they can to ensure players stay safe, either through official or unofficial channels, maybe look the other way on transaction rules and have 3-5 AHL guys on stand by in Minneapolis ready to replace anybody who fails a test a day or two before…I read somewhere that Foligno make a plea to the players to stay as safe as they can as the Winter Classic is a once in a lifetime event they don’t want to miss…
I got tickets, so I’m crossing fingers!
Anybody else worried about the fourth line? I know it’s a “first world problem” to be “worried” about the fourth line but it seems like Sturm and Duhaime haven’t been noticeble lately with bjugstad getting a point here and there. Seemed like they were getting points each game or every other early in the season.
Should be a fun game to be at Joe hope it works out for you! Yeah Foligno did appeal to the team to take as many precautions as possible over the Holidays up to and including having family members and guests get tested before visiting for the Holidays. But it would seem all the precautions, vaccinations aren’t preventing players from still testing positive. Does the AHL follow the same protocols as the NHL? I guess I haven’t heard of any AHL games being cancelled but it seems every NHL team has a reserve of AHL players that are Covid free on call up.
Going to be interesting to see what the “enhanced” protocols will be. If they go back to last year of players being locked in their hotel rooms and no going out to restaurants for dinner etc. I don’t think that is going to be well accepted by the players. I’d love to be a fly on the wall in some of these owners and executives office. Interesting discussions behind closed doors I’m sure.
I heard the new protocols are very similar to last year, mostly for road games in terms of they must stay in their hotel rooms..

sadly yes, Iowa Wild’s game today was just canceled…
Well the NFL is seemingly showing a spark of common sense. Only the unvaxxed and players showing symptoms will be tested. Apparently cancelling three games was enough for them. The NHL needs to follow suit on this.

Now Thursdays game is postponed. I hope the put the Blues and the Wild is some chamber so we can have the Winter Classic. THings are escalating quickly. Sounds like the NHL Players are opting out of the Olympics. Not surprising.
yeah, they should honestly just shut the entire league down until the Winter Classic kicks off the season return..test everyone after the break…
I just read today that the Olympics for NHL players is running into a snag now too. Its unlikely that NHL players will be participating and they have until Jan 10 do decide if they want to avoid financial issues.
