In years past this was the kind of game the Wild would lose. Beat the Stanley Cup champs and then lose to the worse team in the league two nights later. The first period looked like it might be that game. Good two points.
Exactly what I was thinking last night.
I was at the game vs the Jets and when the Wild went up 2-0, you could just tell the fans were on edge waiting for the old Wild to appear and to try to glide it in and end up giving up the next 3 goals. Didn’t happen. Definitely a different mindset with this team.
I LOVE this team’s ability to keep their foot on the gas no matter what is happening. Down by 2, up by 6, down by 1, doesn’t matter, foot on the gas.
The depth scoring is awesome as well. When your 4th line is this dangerous, it really grinds down the opponent, there’s just no way to get a break when all 4 lines are scoring like this. Sure, you’re going to match your #1 D pair with the top line, but then what?
No idea what it’s going to take to get Fiala going. How many Grade-A chances can one player have and not even accidentally put the puck in that space behind the goaltender a few times? Yes, yes, we all know he’s a “late starter”. So maybe in the 22-23 season, then.
Terrific game against Nosalarycappa Bay. Of course, they had injured players, but then again don’t they always? At least until the playoffs.
