Fell asleep before the 3rd, but overall the Kraken were about what I was expecting. Four third lines… high energy, hard forechecking, and throw stuff at the net.

Connor “The Bulldog” Dewar looked great (relative to my expectations)… much more noticeable than he was in preseason. He was like a better version of Kyle Rau actually, and should be a nice bottom 6 depth call-up. I can definitely see him playing full time in the next few years, so long as he keeps getting better.

Jon Lizotte better have played his last game with the NHL Wild… he was horrible and looked so out of place.

Same here I went to bed after the second it was obvious how this game was trending. Evason did not attempt to soft pedal on Fiala or Kaprizov. Said something about hoping they are not playing for personal points. Well if that’s the case it sure as heck ain’t working!

If Kaprizov is that dinged up (which I don’t think he is) in order for him to play as poorly as he is they are foolish for putting him on the ice.

You guys lasted longer than I did. I went to bed after the first. Sounds like the wheels came off after that. First period wasnt too bad, but Kraken sure do work hard out there.

The 2nd period was brutal… just a barrage of shots but Talbot managed to keep them in it. Started the period with a really good 4 minute PK but then got throttled after that. It’s the first time all season they’ve gotten out played at 5v5 for any length of time.

Based on highlights it looks like the 3rd was a lot better and they almost tied it a couple times but didn’t get the bounces.

If Kaprizov is that dinged up (which I don’t think he is) in order for him to play as poorly as he is they are foolish for putting him on the ice.

I thought he was a lot better last night than the 3 terrible games before that. But we’re still yet to see him control the O-zone like he did so often last season. Fiala and Kaprizov both had breakaways, and JEEK didn’t convert on a couple PP rebounds. Those plays were the difference in a game where their goalie kept them in it until the end. Talbot was really solid overall.

It wasn’t that bad a game by the Wild, I agree Lezotte had his sip of coffee in the NHL and that’s probably it… Merrill playing top4 minutes was not a good thing… Kirill looked a little better but is still hampered a bit by something… Talbot was stellar, so thats a positive. Ek missed an open net to tie it with a few minutes left..

Addison has been called up and Lizotte sent down. They likely called Lizotte up as the 7th D and then the Goli injury came outta nowhere so Lizotte got thrust into the lineup. Lesson learned hopefully.

    Beckman called up for Greenway

If Beckman picks up where he left off might be a long time before we see Greenway again.

Doubtful..let’s be clear he was brought up because greenway was sent to IR. Several guys that can be replaced before Greenway…mostly a third line wing. whistling
Boys need to ride the next couple weeks out at 500 and should be good. Time for KK and Fiala to step up…Team game is hard to play when 4-5 guys out.
Addison might be around for a while. Man our D is going to be small. Not so bad in regular season compared to the playoffs.

Good of news on BG that you could here for that situation.

Rask and Pitlick and maybe even Bjugstad would all be scratched before Greenway. He may get scratched a game or 2 as a wake up call but he will not be the 13th forward on this Wild team.

Addison and Goligoski are the same size, right? But yeah, either way they are one of the smallest D groups in the league.

And exactly why would that be.
From what I have seen Greenway only plays well if he is with EEK and Foligno.

Because the 3 guys I listed have all been healthy scratched a lot the last few seasons, and Greenway hasn’t. I’m not saying what I think they should do, but what I think they actually will do. There’s no way Rask and Pitlick are playing regularly over Greenway when all healthy… coaching staff isn’t go I do that.

Not a poorly played game by the Wild last night considering the line up but lack luster by Kaprizov and ultra lack luster by Fiala. Kaprizov’s new haircut didn’t shake the monkey of his back.

Reading Russo’s post game assessment on the Athletic today he’s trying to hold back somewhat on criticizing Kaprizov and Fiala’s lack of production. Comparing Mackinnon and Landeskog to Kaprizov and Fiala he’s using language like Colorado’s true superstars and the Wilds supposed superstars.

Going back to last years playoffs that’s 15 games in a row with very little production from these two. Yes it’s early and one or both of these guys can catch fire at anytime but I bet every game that goes by without a goal and continued turnovers by Kaprizov gets the Wild front office squirming in their chairs just a little more.

I guess I meant more if Addison stays if AG returns. I don’t think they have many large options in Iowa.

Sign me up as president of the Calen Addison fan club. He was awesome, and I thought it was Jon Merril’s best game too (aside from getting undressed by Mackinnon). So not sure if Addison made Merril look good or the other way around or what… but they were really good together, probably a hair/stache connection thing.

Duhaime will be lucky to get away with no suspension. Obviously not malicious or intent to inure, but that was ugly. Mackinnon didn’t realize who he was challenging. What a joke that they didn’t give out fighting majors for that.

What’s it going to take to wake up Fiala and Kaprizov. Depth scoring isn’t going to last forever, so hopefully the stars’ slumps don’t either. I’d love to see Addison on the PP1 – they could use a shakeup.

    Duhaime not facing any discipline.
Have no idea how that wasn’t considered a fight.

What an annoying schedule this must be for the players this week (and next). Home Tuesday, in Pittsburgh Saturday, then home again Sunday. Maybe it doesn’t bother them because they get paid to do it, but off 3 days then back to back and not in the same region? Then they’re out west again next week. It just seems to me that we always get a crappy schedule.

The schedule is annoying for sure but it may actually really help the wild get healthy. Sounds like a couple of the coaches are off the Covid protocol list. Greenway, Goligoski still dinged up. Goli practiced today, but not sure if he will be able to go.

I assume that’s a “what a steal!” good lord? Seems like a fair contract to me.

He’s a stud that just won the Norris and would get way more on the UFA market. But he’s also a hometown boy that already forced his way to New York so they know he wants to be there. Plus Makar and McAvoy just set the market for elite RFA defensemen.

Look at the Rangers cap situation in the future, yikes! How are they going to be able to afford Kakko, LaFreinier and Miller in 1-2 years?

That Trouba contract looks bad, but those 3 guys arent exactly lighting the world on fire so I dont expect their contracts to be too big. Unless something happens this year at least.

Yeah they have some bad contacts, but the Fox extension is not one of them. Fox is in the best defenseman in the league category and the contract is for his prime years. It’s going to be a steal.

Barclay Goodrow, Trouba, and Kreider contracts are going to cost them a good young player at some point.

I agree the kid is a stud unless he gets hurt.
The hapless Hawks won finally last night against the almost equally hapless Senators.

Interesting line combinations in today’s practice. Not sure I like them, but we will see if they stay that way for the game and for how long.
Fiala with Ek and Foligno. Kaprizov with Gaudreau and Hartman.

Given the Sens poor defense it would be a good time to start looking like you belong. Him or Fiala need to get it going. The Sens gave up five to the lowly Blackhawks last night so they will be looking to tighten it up tonight. The Wild can’t have a slow start tonight.
