I don’t think he actually shot the GWG… Kaprizov just banked it off his stick.

Ive watched that video over and over again and that looks to be exactly what happened. Russo said like half the fans left after the open net goal, but then immediately started filtering back in to almost capacity again. A ton of fan videos on twitter from the stands and the X lived up to its name as the Energy Center and was electric!

Definitely a great game to be at. I think the only game I’ve attended that overshadowed this one was when they were down 1-5 to Chicago during their cup run years to win 6-5 in OT. Great to see Foligno’s Superman punch. The lower bowl looked like a B-52s concert when the tying goal was scored.

The Wild have never been to the Stanley Cup Finals or won it. I think you are confusing that with another team. I don’t think they have ever beaten Chicago in a playoff series either. Maybe you are thinking of Colorado.

Chicago cup run years. They came back and beat the hawks in an 8 round shootout down 5-1 in third.
I knew what you meant Teg. I remember that game as well.

unfourtunatley I have no idea what a B52 concert looks like.😂

He meant the Wild came back from behind to beat the hawks when the hawks were in their cup run years. We dont need to relive the savage beatings they have given us over the years through the playoffs.

Last regular season game I remember being even close to this exciting was also against the Jets. I think it was the first game against the Jets after they dummied the Wild in the playoffs. Lots of rough stuff… I think Foligno, Greenway, and Psycho Seeler ended up in the Jets bench at one point. Wild were down 2-0 in the 3rd period and came back to win with a late GWG. No one else remember that?

It’s obviously way to early to know, but this team just feels completely different than any other wild team. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a Wild team play with passion. AT ALL. This is thrives on it and stands up for every single player on the roster. We’ve never seen that from the Wild. It won’t be this year but this core feels like a championship core. The way the act and play. It’s really refreshing from the previous Wild clubs.

I knew I had seen that Superman punch before in Hockey, Kevin Bieksa was the originator…Moose must have been doing some serious film work on techniques…

There chemistry seams really strong. I think it’s a little unfair to say that no other wild team has ever had any passion. That’s probably a reach.
The biggest difference I see vs previous teams is the team speed. They are a much faster team which makes for a more exciting style of play. They have some depth now and speed throughout the line up. They have a couple guys that feel like if the team is not playing their best can go and make it happen and score a big goal.

Yeah first thing I thought when he did that punch was Bieksa. He used that move really well to get on the offensive side of some fights.

I know this topic has been talked about a ton on this thread but I think another reason on the Suter Buyout is his play just doesnt fit this teams style. I could be wrong but I was just thinking that last night while watching them. Evason has really changed this team style of play and I think Suter just didnt fit in it.

Also Moose is my new all time favorite Wild player!

Foligno mentioned Bieksa in the post game presser when asked about the superman punch.

At this point I think the Foligno extension has been Billy G’s best move as GM. I thought it was too much money at the time

Funny interview from Nick Foligno on his brother’s super man punch:

“I asked him ‘what the hel1 was that’ – He said ‘I don’t know, I blacked out'”
“The one thing about Marcus is when he snaps, he snaps”

Suter didn’t like a fast pace of play, I think that’s ONE reason why this team is playing so much faster (Suter played almost 1/2 the game, so he had a huge impact on how we played)

I think Kaprizov has had another huge impact by having his “Russian way of playing” rub off on the entire team. The Russian way is always being in constant movement with/without the puck, if you watch old Wild tape from even a few years ago, we never did that…This team also has some LEGIT swagger now, they believe no deficit is insurmountable for them anymore, it’s sure fun to watch!

Since the beginning of the team they have been passive, non aggressive, and didn’t play with an edge. That is no heart or passion in my book. Maybe the old teams with Brunette, Gabby, and Walz. But it’s been since the early 2000s.

All this “NEVER in the history of the Wild” talk is a big hyperbolic, no? Last night’s game was incredible, but that doesn’t have to mean the entire history of the franchise was stagnant and boring up to this point.

This is from 2018, Wild scored 4 goals in the 3rd to come from behind and win that game. Lot’s a passion in that game too.

Agree. Hockey is my first and most passionate about sport. I have played a lot coached a lot and watched more wild hockey and just hockey in general in my life that I even care to admit. lol
Is this team fun to watch. Hell yeah
Is this group of guys fun to root for. Hell yeah
Is this the only style of play that leads to winning. NO
More than one way to skin a cat so to speak.
I think there is obviously going to be some over reaction to last nights game. I mean I jumped out of my chair multiple times. Not every good player is an emotional scream and shout type guy. I mean look at Brodin. Did anyone even notice him last night. Have you ever seen him do more than stick one arm in the air, but he is a hell of a defensemen.
Take the islanders. They have been to the conference finals the last two years and they may be one of the most boring teams to watch, but they win.

Brodin doesnt get much recognition, but IMO he may be our best defenseman. Dumba is our most offensive threat, Spurg is right there with Brodin too, but Brodin is just so smooth in his skating. He does have a great shot too which I wish he would use more.
Over the next few years its going to be fun to watch these guys grow and some more youth injected, but at this point I am excited to see what this team can do.
    82-0 baby!

I think we all are CM. toast

As we have discussed ad nauseum navigating those big buyout years will be interesting. We will cross that bridge when we get there.
I am planning my Cup Parade location as we speak.

How good would Nick look at wing on the third line with Gaudreau and Fiala. whistling

More Jets tested positive. Let’s hope it didn’t spread to Wild players like it did last year. That’s one way to knock the hype train off the rails.

Dang! I was hoping the Wheeler thing was a false positive but I guess he has symptoms. Yeah, lets hope its contained. Remember the mumps issue a few years back? That was a disaster.

Just read Mike Bossy is dealing with lung cancer. I hope he can beat it. He and those Islander teams were something to watch. Best of luck to him and his family.

That tribute to TK last night was fantastic! Best of luck to Bossy. I wasnt the biggest hockey fan back then as I was young and just starting to play, but I definitely know how good he and the Islanders were.
