2022 MN WILD/NHL THREAD

Where was that pic taken? During the Duluth bonding trip? I have several sets of Frogg Toggs!

The Athletic came out with their NHL season predictions.

In the overall prediction, the Wild are forecast to be at:

97 points
42% chance of making the playoffs
23% chance of not making playoffs (no it doesn’t make sense to me either, why does not making % + Making % not = 100%? Is there a third option?)
19% chance of making div final
8% chance of making conf final
4% chance of making the final
3% chance of winning the cup

Now there is a separate divisional prediction that makes no sense to me, that prediction has the wild with a 77% chance of making the playoffs, so no idea why the discrepancy.

Colorado appears to be everyone’s darling to win the cup.

Interesting to see the teams that are behind the Wild by quite a large margin in the overall prediction, but I wouldn’t want to be anywhere in the East this year, talk about tough neighborhoods.

Yeah that thing makes zero sense. It has Colorado with a 24 percent chance to make the playoffs. Wild have the third highest chance. These analytic folks need someone with hockey sense to help them with their analytics. Just glad I am not a sabres fan reading this.😂

Grouse: “Making the Playoffs” = losing in the first round. All the percentages you listed add up to 99%, probably a rounding mishap in there that it’s not exactly 100%.

I honestly didn’t look that close was being lazy. I see how it reads now.
I don’t read to much into things like these.

I never pay attention to preseason predictions, MacKinnon blows his knee in month 1 and it all goes out the door for Colorado….

I had no idea what to expect from Chicago with all the off season changes, but they were terrible last night. And the new guys lead the charge with Seth Jones and Tyler Johnson being exceptionally terrible. Flower got a wake up call last night. I hope that’s how the season plays out for them.

I was really pleased with the TNT coverage last night. Barkley was his signature self. I wonder if he will be on there regularly or was like a one time thing?
That is a big contract for Brady IMO. Get it while you can I guess.

That’s the problem, teams like the Senators have cash and IMO that is a huge overpay and now they set the market for RFA comparables. This is going to be bad for a lot of teams I think.

I agree, I really liked TNT’s program, excited for better hockey coverage!

I think the TNT coverage was exactly what fans were hoping for. Casual and entertaining. Biz had me cracking up a couple times.

What I can make out here and after a quick trip to Cesar’s Sportsbook is that Colorado and Vegas are the top two picks out west while Tampa and Toronto are the top two picks out east.

Apparently Detroit and Buffalo are the clear two worst teams in the entire league. lol

I enjoy seeing Chicago struggle. My brother is a Blackhawks fan and he thumped his chest for several years like King Kong. He’s been awful quiet recently though.

Yeah sorry screen shotted it quick from my phone. I am sure most were a sleep by then but caught the post game. They were almost sleep drunk it was pretty funny.
Can Gretzky actually turn his neck from side to side. I would worry about him crossing a busy street.

I think tonight’s game will be high scoring with little defense played by both teams…6-3 Wild win…I think Kap gets at least 2 goals and 2 assists, Powerplay will go 50%

I will say they make the playoffs as a 3 seed.

I would like to add that I am not a fan of the current playoff format they are using. I’d rather have them go back to simply placing the top 8 teams in each conference as the playoff seeds instead. 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc.

Totally agree.

I got the wild for 104 points, taking the 2 or 3 seed, and beating the Jets in the first round.

Loving this ESPN+ thing so far. Got to watch absolute pandemonium in Detroit lase night. When Tampa scored the 4th goal with absolutely no celly, you just knew they were going to win that game.

ESPN+ has exceeded my expectations sofar, I also found out last night that if you view it through an Apple TV box, you can quad split screen 4 separate games at one time!

I flipped it on just in time to see Jordan Shroeder tie it up with 35 seconds left in the 3rd.
